North Park is a neighborhood in San Diego, California, United States, as well as a larger "community" as defined by the City of San Diego for planning purposes. The neighborhood is bounded: on the northwest by Park Boulevard and University Heights on the west by Florida Canyon and both University Heights and Hillcrest on the southwest by Balboa Park on the south by Switzer Canyon and the South Park neighborhood on the east by Interstate 805 and City HeightsThe pre-Interstate 805 boundary of North Park was widely considered to be 35th Street, which is now part of City Heights. It includes the sub-neighborhoods of Burlingame, Altadena, and the Morley Field area (site of the Dryden Historic District). North Park is part of the 53rd congressional district, and San Diego City Council District 3. The "community" of North Park as defined for planning purposes includes University Heights on the north and Juniper Canyon as the southern boundary, thus including as far southeast as Cedar Ridge Park in the officially defined community.The North Park sign can be seen at 30th Street and University Avenue, and this intersection is considered to be the heart of the neighborhood.

The Linkery was a farm-to-table restaurant in North Park, San Diego, California that specialized in natural meat, local food, fine wines, craft beer, and cask ale. The restaurant's name referred to its daily-changing offerings of house-made sausages.The Linkery was founded in 2005 by Jay Porter, a former engineer and consultant for consumer electronics companies with no prior restaurant experience. Porter was responsible for the restaurant's strict fixed-tipping policy, which angered other nearby establishments.The Linkery's philosophy was based in part on the premise that "eating is an agricultural act," proposed by Wendell Berry in The Pleasures of Eating.As of July 15, 2013, The Linkery closed and the location was re-sold to another company.

The Ray Street Arts District is an arts district in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego, California.

The San Diego Velodrome is a 333m outdoor bicycle racing track located in the Morley Field Sports Complex in San Diego, California. Constructed in 1975 and resurfaced in 2010, it is owned by San Diego Parks and Recreation. Currently operated by the San Diego Velodrome Association, the track hosts regular races sanctioned by Cycling USA and training nights. In 2007, the track hosted the USA Cycling Collegiate Track National Championships.

Switzer Canyon is a canyon in San Diego, California. It is situated to the east of Balboa Park and serves as the boundary between the neighborhoods of North Park and South Park in Central San Diego. Switzer Canyon remains an oasis of natural vegetation between some of the city's most urban neighborhoods and is a prime example of San Diego county's unique canyon-laced topography.

The Georgia Street Bridge in San Diego, California was constructed in 1907 to carry traffic, after a streetcar line was cut through a ridge where Georgia Street stood. In 1914, a Romanesque Spandrel Arch with Mission Revival styling made of reinforced concrete and designed by J.R. Comly was built there. It was designed to complement the Panama-California Exposition at nearby Balboa Park. Between 1914 and 1948, the San Diego Electric Railway's East San Diego Trolley Line traveled under the bridge along University Avenue. Upon application by the University Heights Historical Society, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.The bridge was restored in 2016, uncovering several artefacts including old trolley tracks and an old spoon.

The Lafayette Hotel, Swim Club & Bungalows is a hotel in San Diego, California, United States that opened July 1, 1946. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 31, 2012.The Lafayette's original name was Imig Manor, owned by local entrepreneur Larry Imig. The Lafayette was originally built at a cost of $2 million on El Cajon Boulevard. When Imig Manor opened in 1946, its first guest was Bob Hope; other celebrities followed. “The buildings and the pool are steeped in the history of Hollywood’s heyday, the 1940s and ’50s,” according to the developer.By 1960, Interstate 8 replaced El Cajon Boulevard as the main east-west connector of San Diego, and hotel operations ceased due to the loss of through traffic on El Cajon Boulevard. The building was passed through several owners, until Hampstead Lafayette Partners purchased 2.6 acres (11,000 m2) in North Park, including the Lafayette Hotel, for $11.5 million in March 2004. Hampstead Partners is restoring the Lafayette as a boutique hotel. In 2010 a year-long, $4 million facelift was announced, aided by a $2.4 million loan from the city's Redevelopment Agency. District 3 City Councilmember Todd Gloria called the revitalization a return to the hotel's “glamour and opulence.”The hotel has a swimming pool designed by Johnny Weissmuller, a ballroom, and 131 guest suites, each named for a great name in film history.

Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) Flight 182 was a Boeing 727-214 commercial airliner, registration N533PS, that collided with a private Cessna 172 light aircraft, registration N7711G, over San Diego, California, at 9:01 am on Monday, September 25, 1978. It was Pacific Southwest Airlines' first fatal accident, and the deadliest air disaster in California history. Both aircraft crashed into North Park, a San Diego neighborhood. Flight 182 impacted just north of the intersection of Dwight and Nile streets, killing all 135 people aboard the aircraft and seven people on the ground in houses, including two children. The Cessna impacted Polk Avenue between 32nd and Iowa streets, killing the two on board. Nine others on the ground were injured and twenty-two homes were destroyed or damaged by the impact and debris.

Burlingame is a neighborhood in San Diego, California, bordered by North Park to the north and east, and by South Park to the south, and is located within the boundaries of the Greater North Park Community Planning Area.Burlingame is a historic district recognized by the City of San Diego for its Craftsman Bungalow, Tudor Revival, Mission Revival, Spanish Colonial Revival, Prairie School, Art Deco and California Ranch architectural styles as well as properties that are hybrids of several styles.

St. Augustine High School is a private Catholic high school for young men under the direction of the Order of Saint Augustine located in the North Park district of San Diego, California and founded in 1922. It is located in the Diocese of San Diego, and is a member of the Augustinian Secondary Education Association. Named after Saint Augustine of Hippo, an early Christian theologian, St. Augustine teaches young men within the framework of the Catholic faith and in the Augustinian tradition. This culturally diverse school serves the communities of San Diego County and Tijuana, Mexico. The school also publicly states, "We open our doors to all boys we believe will benefit from our academic program."

Balboa Park Gardens are cultivated areas of Balboa Park in San Diego, California.

Balboa Park is a 1,200-acre (4.9 km2) historic urban cultural park in San Diego, California, United States. In addition to open space areas, natural vegetation zones, green belts, gardens, and walking paths, it contains museums, several theaters, and the San Diego Zoo. There are also many recreational facilities and several gift shops and restaurants within the boundaries of the park. Placed in reserve in 1835, the park's site is one of the oldest in the United States dedicated to public recreational use. Balboa Park is managed and maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of San Diego. Balboa Park hosted the 1915–16 Panama–California Exposition and 1935–36 California Pacific International Exposition, both of which left architectural landmarks. The park and its historic Exposition buildings were declared a National Historic Landmark and National Historic Landmark District in 1977, and placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
