Lipetz House is a house in Los Angeles designed by Raphael Soriano, and built in 1936. The building was Soriano's first residential commission, and arose from his knowledge and passion for both language and music. The main feature of the house was to be a music room with excellent acoustic properties that could accommodate Mrs. Lipetz’s Bechstein Grand piano and up to twenty guests. Soriano designed the north end of this 15-foot (4.6 m) x 32-foot (9.8 m) room as a semi circle with continuous windows, creating a real-life backdrop of the vast San Gabriel Mountain Range, for Lipetz's performances. The site itself is on the pinnacle of a hill overlooking Silver Lake. Several hundred music albums were accommodated in shelves placed under built-in seating areas, and much of the other furniture in the house was also built-in. The music room comprised nearly one third of the total 2,300-square-foot (210 m2) area of the two-bedroom house. The design is in the International Style, built with traditional wood stud construction, similar to Richard Neutra’s frame, but with one innovate technological detail - steel beams supported the ground floor. The building was chosen as one of four U.S.A. buildings for the 1937 International Architecture Exhibition in Paris, and with it Soriano won the prestigious Prix de Rome. The house is in good condition with slight alterations.

The Lyric Hyperion Theatre & Cafe is a longstanding mixed-use business in Silverlake, Los Angeles. It is a cafe by day and a theatre by night.

Silver Lake is a residential and commercial neighborhood in the east-central region of Los Angeles, California. Originally home to a small community called Ivanhoe in honor of Sir Walter Scott. In 1907, the Los Angeles Water Department would build the Silver Lake Reservoir, named for LA Water Commissioner Herman Silver, giving the neighborhood its current name. The area is now known for its architecturally significant homes, independently owned businesses, diverse restaurants, painted staircases, and a creative environment. The neighborhood is also home to several highly rated public and private schools.

Spaceland was an alternative rock/indie rock nightclub in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, that existed between 1995 and 2011. The club was formerly a gay disco called Dreams of LA. Spaceland's owner announced the end of the venue in late 2010, with the space continuing to operate under the new name The Satellite.

Club Fuck! (also known as Club FUCK!) was a nightclub that officially began the summer of 1989 and was hosted by Miguel Beristain, Cliff Diller, and James Stone.The weekly party was located at Basgo's Disco in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. It later moved to Dragonfly Bar in West Hollywood and lasted until 1993, when it was raided by the Los Angeles Police Department's Vice Division. Fuck! constituted a gritty liminal space oppositional to both the neighborhood's largely men-only leather bars as well as the clean-cut bars of West Hollywood. At Fuck! the modified, pierced, and tattooed body was front and center. Scarring, mummification, and piercing were staples at Fuck!, confronting fears of contagion while revealing the temporality of the body during the height of the AIDS crisis. Performances at Fuck! were both transgressive and theatrical, pushing the limits of what the performer's body (and audience) could endure with a spirit of play. Notable performers at Fuck! included Bob Flanagan, Sheree Rose, Buck Angel, Ron Athey, Vaginal Davis, Daphne Von Rey, Jenny Shimizu, Durk Dehner, Catherine Opie, Michele Mills. In an April 1991 article in the LA Weekly, Fuck! was described as not simply “an existential exercise in bad attitudes,” but rather “a celebration of the primal life force amped up to overload,” with an “S&M/sexual subtext” that makes it “sociologically fascinating.”On August 5, 2009, Antebellum Hollywood presented Club Fuck! 20 year reunion, featuring photography, artworks, posters, and memorabilia from the people who created the once-in-a-lifetime club. Curated by Rick Castro, the event featuring live performance by Club Fuck original Linda Lesabre, original playlist from DJ John Mark, artwork and contributions from James Stone, Michelle Carr, Catherine Opie, Sheree Rose, Jenny Shimizu and many more. Club Fuck was the subject of the exhibition entitled "FUCK! Loss, desire and pleasure" curated by Lucia Fabio and Toro Castaño at USC's ONE Archives.

The Black Cat Tavern is an LGBT historic site located in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. In 1967, it was the site of one of the first demonstrations in the United States protesting police brutality against LGBT people, preceding the Stonewall riots by over two years.

The Micheltorena Steps is an outdoor staircase in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, in the U.S. state of California. It is one of 52 historic public stairways in Silver Lake. The staircase has 204 steps. It connects Sunset Boulevard to Micheltorena Street. The iconic heart on the stairs vertical part was painted in 2013 by Corinne Carrey. In 2015, with artists Carla O’Brien and Mandon Bossi, Carrey painted the stairs in bright colors, and unofficially renamed it Stair Candy. The stairs were approved as a public arts project by the city in 2019. In April 2022, the stairs were painted over with white paint. The artists and the city were not involved in this act, leaving only vandalism to explain the act. The following month, the stairs' painting was restored. Anti-graffiti coating was applied to prevent future acts of vandalism.

Junc Gallery exhibited contemporary art influenced by illustration and related genres. As such it showed work by artists early in their exhibition history including: Ben Jones (Paper Rad), Eddie Martinez, Futurefarmers, Justin Wood, Brendan Monroe. Junc Gallery existed from 2004 to 2009 at 4017 Sunset Blvd, (Sunset Junction) in the neighborhood of Los Angeles known as Silver Lake exhibiting an emerging culture of artists influenced by cartoons, illustration, comics, zines and related aesthetics. The rapid emergence of this vernacular into contemporary art galleries during this period has also been called "Post Illustration" by Art Critic Shana Nys Dambrot in a review of the artist Brendan Monroe, an early exhibitor at Junc. Whatever name the art canon ultimately settles on Junc Gallery was an important early adopter of these aesthetic movements in contemporary art.

Sunset Junction is an informal name for a portion of the Silver Lake district of Los Angeles, California. It was home to the Sunset Junction Street Fair from 1980 through 2010. It is in the southwestern part of the district along Sunset Boulevard. The name refers to the street junction of Sunset Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard, two of the largest streets in Los Angeles, both of which travel from Sunset Junction to the Pacific Ocean. For most of their distance, the streets run parallel, but join here where they intersect Sanborn Avenue and where Santa Monica Blvd ends.

Northwest Los Angeles or Northwest of Downtown is a group of neighborhoods near the central area of Los Angeles, California that are north and west of the city center of Los Angeles, California. This name for the area has been in use off and on for over 100 years, originally applying to Angelino Heights and gradually shifting northwesterly as those areas were built out. Typically, the names of the individual neighborhoods are used rather than the collective term "Northwest Los Angeles." It is home to the biggest public parks in the City and offers multiple recreational opportunities. Los Feliz and parts of Silver Lake have always been expensive and home to Hollywood celebrities (and originally, some of the Hollywood studios themselves). Silver Lake and Elysian Heights were also artist communities. But since the 1990s other neighborhoods in this area have experienced substantial gentrification. This has gradually displaced various immigrant and poor communities. Most of the neighborhoods are represented by Councilman Hugo Soto-Martinez, but some are represented by Nithya Raman or Eunisses Hernandez and other councilmembers.
