Broadmeadows, Victoria

The City of Broadmeadows was a local government area about 20 kilometres (12 mi) north of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of 63.65 square kilometres (24.58 sq mi), and existed from 1857 until 1994.

Broadmeadows railway station is located on the Craigieburn line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the northern Melbourne suburb of Broadmeadows, and opened on 1 February 1873.The Melbourne–Sydney standard gauge line runs to the east of the station, and south of the station, towards Flinders Street, the Albion–Jacana freight line branches westward from the main line, providing an alternative route into Melbourne to the suburban lines via Essendon. Train stabling facilities are located to the north of the station.

Broadmeadows Secondary College was a co-educational secondary college located in Victoria, Australia. The college was located in Broadmeadows, a largely working class suburb of Melbourne. The college provided a comprehensive education from years 7 through to 12 offering both VCE and VCAL qualifications at Year 11 and 12 levels. Broadmeadows Secondary College ceased to exist after a merger with neighbouring Erinbank and Hillcrest Secondary Colleges. The merged schools formed Hume Central Secondary College.

Broadmeadows Central is a single-level enclosed shopping centre in the northern Melbourne suburb of Broadmeadows. It has annual turnover of $322M, and a total retail area of 61,463 m2 (661,580 sq ft).The centre is anchored by Kmart, Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, TK Maxx, The Reject Shop, Best & Less, Cotton On Mega, JB Hi-Fi, Hoyts and Chemist Warehouse.

The City of Hume is a local government area located within the metropolitan area of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It includes the outer north-western suburbs and a number of rural localities between 13 and 40 kilometres from the Melbourne city centre. It has an area of 504 square kilometres, and in June 2018 it had a population of 224,394. The City was formed on 15 December 1994 after the amalgamation of most of the City of Broadmeadows, the Shire of Bulla and parts of the City of Keilor and City of Whittlesea. The City is unique in Australia in that it was the first local government to introduce a Bill of Rights for its denizens in 2004, following the establishment of a Social Justice Charter in 2001. Hume Central Secondary College is a co-educational public school located in Broadmeadows, Victoria, Australia. Hume Central was founded in the mid 2000s by the merger of underperforming Erinbank, Broadmeadows and Hillcrest Secondary Colleges.

Hillcrest Secondary College was a Victorian Government secondary college. The college was located in Broadmeadows a largely working class suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Hillcrest provided a comprehensive education from years 7 through to 12 offering both VCE and VCAL qualifications at Year 11 and 12 levels. Hillcrest ceased to exist after a merger with neighbouring Erinbank and Broadmeadows Secondary Colleges. The merged schools formed Hume Central Secondary College.The site that the college once occupied is now home to Broadmeadows Valley Primary School, The Broadmeadows Special Developmental School and the Dimboola Road Campus of Hume Central Secondary College.

Jacana railway station is located on the Craigieburn line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the northern Melbourne suburb of Glenroy, and opened on 15 February 1959.The North East standard gauge line is located to the west of the station, crossing the broad gauge suburban lines via a flyover at the Craigieburn (down) end of the station. The Albion-Jacana freight line joins the main suburban line after the flyover, and the Western Ring Road passes under the station via a short tunnel.

Jacana () is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 14 km (8.7 mi) north of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Hume local government area. Jacana recorded a population of 2,187 at the 2021 census.Jacana is located north of the Western Ring Road, south of Johnstone Street and between the Craigieburn railway line and Moonee Ponds Creek.

Ilim College, formerly known as Islamic College North Western Region, was established in 1995 to provide Islamic education. Ilim College is a prep to year 12 VCE co-educational, private Islamic school. It is located in Dallas, Victoria, Australia. They recently purchased the Yorolla school on Box Forest Rd, Glenroy as an extension campus. A campus in Doveton was purchased by 2014. The school is owned by the non-profit organisation Millî Görüş, which aims at catering for the religious, educational, cultural and social needs of the Muslim community.

Electoral district of Glenroy was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria.

Maygar Army Barracks is located in Broadmeadows, Victoria. It was the training area for the Australian Light Horse during World War I. The barracks was named after Victoria Cross winner Leslie Maygar, who received the award for his actions during the Second Boer War 1901 and later assisted in establishing the base in 1914. He was subsequently killed during the Battle of Beersheba in 1917.The Melbourne Immigration Transit Accommodation facility was built on part of the site in 2008 using the former officer's mess.
