City of Broadmeadows

Broadmeadows is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 15 km (9.3 mi) north of Melbourne's Central Business District and the council seat of the City of Hume local government area. Broadmeadows recorded a population of 12,524 at the 2021 census.Broadmeadows is a sub-regional centre within the northern suburbs of Melbourne, and is often used as a reference for the suburbs around it, although this may be due to its former status as a municipality.

Broadmeadows railway station is located on the Craigieburn line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the northern Melbourne suburb of Broadmeadows, and opened on 1 February 1873.The Melbourne–Sydney standard gauge line runs to the east of the station, and south of the station, towards Flinders Street, the Albion–Jacana freight line branches westward from the main line, providing an alternative route into Melbourne to the suburban lines via Essendon. Train stabling facilities are located to the north of the station.

Broadmeadows Secondary College was a co-educational secondary college located in Victoria, Australia. The college was located in Broadmeadows, a largely working class suburb of Melbourne. The college provided a comprehensive education from years 7 through to 12 offering both VCE and VCAL qualifications at Year 11 and 12 levels. Broadmeadows Secondary College ceased to exist after a merger with neighbouring Erinbank and Hillcrest Secondary Colleges. The merged schools formed Hume Central Secondary College.

The City of Hume is a local government area located within the metropolitan area of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It includes the outer north-western suburbs and a number of rural localities between 13 and 40 kilometres from the Melbourne city centre. It has an area of 504 square kilometres, and in June 2018 it had a population of 224,394. The City was formed on 15 December 1994 after the amalgamation of most of the City of Broadmeadows, the Shire of Bulla and parts of the City of Keilor and City of Whittlesea. Hume Central Secondary College is a co-educational public school located in Broadmeadows, Victoria, Australia. Hume Central was founded in the mid 2000s by the merger of underperforming Erinbank, Broadmeadows and Hillcrest Secondary Colleges.

Hillcrest Secondary College was a Victorian Government secondary college. The college was located in Broadmeadows a largely working class suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Hillcrest provided a comprehensive education from years 7 through to 12 offering both VCE and VCAL qualifications at Year 11 and 12 levels. Hillcrest ceased to exist after a merger with neighbouring Erinbank and Broadmeadows Secondary Colleges. The merged schools formed Hume Central Secondary College.The site that the college once occupied is now home to Broadmeadows Valley Primary School, The Broadmeadows Special Developmental School and the Dimboola Road Campus of Hume Central Secondary College.

Jacana railway station is located on the Craigieburn line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the northern Melbourne suburb of Glenroy, and opened on 15 February 1959.The North East standard gauge line is located to the west of the station, crossing the broad gauge suburban lines via a flyover at the Craigieburn (down) end of the station. The Albion-Jacana freight line joins the main suburban line after the flyover, and the Western Ring Road passes under the station via a short tunnel.

Ilim College, formerly known as Islamic College North Western Region, was established in 1995 to provide Islamic education. Ilim College is a prep to year 12 VCE co-educational, private Islamic school. It is located in Dallas, Victoria, Australia. They recently purchased the Yorolla school on Box Forest Rd, Glenroy as an extension campus. A campus in Doveton was purchased by 2014. The school is owned by the non-profit organisation Millî Görüş, which aims at catering for the religious, educational, cultural and social needs of the Muslim community.

Maygar Army Barracks is located in Broadmeadows, Victoria. It was the training area for the Australian Light Horse during World War I. The barracks was named after Victoria Cross winner Leslie Maygar, who received the award for his actions during the Second Boer War 1901 and later assisted in establishing the base in 1914. He was subsequently killed during the Battle of Beersheba in 1917.The Melbourne Immigration Transit Accommodation facility was built on part of the site in 2008 using the former officer's mess.
