Lawndale High School

Rancho Sausal Redondo (Round Willow-grove Ranch) was a 22,458-acre (91 km2) Mexican land grant in present day Los Angeles County, California given in 1837 to Antonio Ygnacio Ávila by Juan Alvarado Governor of Alta California. Rancho Sausal Redondo covered the area that now includes Playa Del Rey, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Lawndale, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Hawthorne, and Redondo Beach.

Redondo Beach station is an elevated light rail station on the C Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located over Marine Avenue in the city of Redondo Beach, California, after which the station is named. It opened with the commencement of Green Line service on August 12, 1995. The station is currently the western terminus of the C Line. By 2024, Redondo Beach station will be served by the K Line after it gets extended there and the C Line gets rerouted to LAX Airport at the future LAX/Metro Transit Center station. The original name for the station was Marine Ave / Redondo Beach Ave, until 2005 when the station was renamed Redondo Beach. An extension beyond Redondo Beach into Torrance is in the planning stages. The train platform, currently suitable for two-car trains, is planned to be lengthened by 2028 to accommodate three-car trains to enable increased capacity of the line.

Space Park is an aerospace engineering campus occupying over 100 acres in Redondo Beach, California since 1961, expanding in 1968 to a nearly adjacent 90 acres in Manhattan Beach (15 of which were developed as public sports facilities between 1987 and 2001; 22 of which were sold in 1996 and became the Manhattan Beach Studios Media Campus). Founded as Space Technology Center by Space Technology Laboratories (STL), the site is now owned and operated by Northrop Grumman Corp. (NGC) since its 2002 acquisition of TRW Inc. This group of buildings became the first in the USA constructed solely for the entire process of designing, building, and testing spacecraft. The architects designed them so every engineer could have a desk with a window view of tree-scaped courtyards. During the 1960 groundbreaking ceremony, STL leaders joined in an ecumenical prayer for the space age: "We dedicate this building then to the protection of our land, to the discovery of our universe, but most of all to the spearheading of Peace on Earth and Good Will to Men."

Lawndale is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 32,769 at the 2010 census, up from 31,712 according to the 2000 census. The city is in the South Bay region of the Greater Los Angeles Area.

Environmental Charter High School, abbreviated to ECHS, is a 9th through 12th grade public charter high school in Lawndale, California. It was founded in 2002. Prior to its founding, there was another high school at the same location that was named “Victory”. It was around from at least 1999–2001.

Aviation High School (Aviation, AHS, Avi-Hi) was a high school located in Redondo Beach, California that was in operation from 1957 to 1982. The school occupied 40 acres at the northeast corner of Manhattan Beach Boulevard and Aviation Boulevard (which runs north to the Los Angeles International Airport). Their athletic teams were known as the Falcons and the school colors were black and orange. Because of mushrooming growth in the South Bay, Los Angeles beach communities (Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, and Hermosa Beach), the school was built in 1957 (at a cost of 4 million dollars) by the then South Bay Union High School District which has today broken into the Redondo Beach Unified School District and the Manhattan Beach Unified School District; the district included two other high schools: Redondo Union High School and Mira Costa High School. Other proposed names for the school were Pilot George High, Will Rogers High, Kittyhawk High and—the second runner-up—Aileen S. Hammond High. Aviation High School served students from both Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach. At its construction, Aviation's facilities—largely single-story buildings radiating out from a central quad—were considered "ultra-modern". In the late 1960s a large auditorium was added to the campus.

Da Vinci Schools is a public school network in Los Angeles, California with five schools and one college and career program serving 2,400+ students from 122 zip codes. In Fall 2017, Da Vinci Communications, Da Vinci Design and Da Vinci Science high schools co-located to a new Wiseburn campus at 201 N. Douglas Street, El Segundo, CA. Da Vinci Schools operate the high schools for the Wiseburn Unified School District in a unique district-charter partnership model. Da Vinci Schools are fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC) and are a member of the Coalition of Essential Schools.

Vistamar School is a private, co-educational college-preparatory high school in El Segundo in Los Angeles County, California, United States. Vistamar School opened in September 2005, following almost four years of research, planning, fund raising and personnel recruitment. The school has a 76,000-square-foot (7,100 m2) building at 737 Hawaii Street in El Segundo and has remodeled approximately three quarters of the space for student use. Enrollment in 2012-13 was about 270 students. Current enrollment is 280 students. Over the next few years, Vistamar plans to expand to an anticipated enrollment of 300 students in grades 9 through 12.

Del Aire () (Spanish for "Of The Air") is a census-designated place (CDP) in the inland South Bay, Los Angeles County, California, United States, between El Segundo and Hawthorne. The population was 10,001 at the 2010 census, up from 9,012 at the 2000 census. Del Aire is a small unincorporated residential neighborhood next to the Interstate 405/Interstate 105 interchange. It consists of two roughly rectangular shaped parts: one to the northwest bounded by I-105 and the City of Los Angeles on the north, El Segundo on the west, Hawthorne on the east, and El Segundo Blvd. on the south, and one to the southeast bounded by El Segundo Blvd. on the north and surrounded by Hawthorne on the east, south and west.The two parts are connected by a sliver of land across El Segundo Blvd. The Los Angeles Airport Courthouse is in the Del Aire CDP. Aviation/LAX station on the Metro C Line light rail line is in Los Angeles proper, adjacent to the CDP, and the Los Angeles Air Force Base is in El Segundo, adjacent to Del Aire CDP.

Hawthorne High School is a public high school located in Hawthorne, California, within the Centinela Valley Union High School District. It opened in 1951 with 9th and 10th grades. The first graduating senior class was that of 1954. It is most notable for its association with The Beach Boys, whose original members Brian, Carl, and Dennis Wilson, and Al Jardine attended the school. Coincidentally, Olivia Trinidad Arias, who later became Olivia Harrison (George Harrison’s wife), also attended; she graduated in 1965. Hawthorne High School is a cross-town rival with Leuzinger High School.

The original name for the station was Douglas St/Rosecrans Ave, but was later simplified to Douglas. This station was renovated in 2006 as part of street improvements in the area. The Manhattan Beach Botanical Garden (.66 acres (0.27 ha)) is a botanical garden located within Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach, California. It is open daily with free admission. The garden was first envisioned in 1992, with garden construction starting in 1994. In 1997 the garden became a nonprofit organization, and its grand opening was on Earth Day 2001. It consists primarily of plants native to California.
