Del Aire () (Spanish for "Of The Air") is a census-designated place (CDP) in the inland South Bay, Los Angeles County, California, United States, between El Segundo and Hawthorne. The population was 10,001 at the 2010 census, up from 9,012 at the 2000 census. Del Aire is a small unincorporated residential neighborhood next to the Interstate 405/Interstate 105 interchange. It consists of two roughly rectangular shaped parts: one to the northwest bounded by I-105 and the City of Los Angeles on the north, El Segundo on the west, Hawthorne on the east, and El Segundo Blvd. on the south, and one to the southeast bounded by El Segundo Blvd. on the north and surrounded by Hawthorne on the east, south and west.The two parts are connected by a sliver of land across El Segundo Blvd. The Los Angeles Airport Courthouse is in the Del Aire CDP. Aviation/LAX station on the Metro C Line light rail line is in Los Angeles proper, adjacent to the CDP, and the Los Angeles Air Force Base is in El Segundo, adjacent to Del Aire CDP.

Cockatoo Inn was a hotel located on Hawthorne Boulevard and Imperial Highway in Hawthorne, California. The hotel was a popular destination in Los Angeles, serving US politicians, Hollywood actors, and members of the American Mafia. Cockatoo gained a reputation for being a gathering place for the elites in Los Angeles. The 210-room hotel featured intricate European furnishings, grand banquet halls, and an eccentric bar.The hotel was founded in 1958, when a notorious American Mafia member Andrew Lococo built the hotel. Cockatoo Inn quickly became popular in Los Angeles. Guests of the hotel include John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, and Mickey Rooney. An acting US Attorney identified Andrew Lococo as a prominent member of the American Mafia, making Lococo subject to federal investigations. Shortly afterward he was convicted of horse race-fixing, gambling violations, and perjury in a grand trial. Lococo proceeded to sell the hotel two years after his conviction. The hotel business continued to prosper, but by the late 1980s, the hotel began to suffer and became bankrupt in 1991. The next corporation to buy the bankrupt hotel was also unable to make the Cockatoo Inn profitable and sold the property to investors from China. The Cockatoo inn soon fell into disarray and shut down, prompting Chinese investors to sell the property to a property developer.After purchasing the property in 2004, the developer demolished the hotel with plans for a new three hotel complex to replace it. The project was met with neighborhood appeals however, the developer was able to approve the project and pushed forward with its construction. During the complex's construction in 2009, the hotel industry in Los Angeles was suffering from average daily rates for hotels falling 15% in just 2009 alone. Despite obstacles of slow construction, franchising regulations, economic downturn, and financing troubles the developer completed the three hotels. In 2019 plans were announced for an expansion of the complex for a total of seven hotels and 760 rooms. The complex currently includes a Candlewood Suites and Holiday Inn Express, with the "Cockatoo" name having been adopted by a Comfort Inn across from the complex on Acacia Avenue.

Rancho Sausal Redondo covered the area that now includes Playa Del Rey, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Lawndale, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Hawthorne, and Redondo Beach.

Hawthorne/Lennox station is a below-grade light rail station on the C Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located in the median of Interstate 105 (Century Freeway), below Hawthorne Boulevard, after which the station is named along with the Lennox community where it is located. The station is also close to the city of Hawthorne. The original name for the station was Hawthorne Blvd/I-105, but was later simplified and its location in Lennox clarified, with a change to Hawthorne/Lennox. The station is served by the SoFi Stadium Shuttle on football game days and for other major events including some concerts. Buses typically leave every 5-8 minutes to transport fans to the stadium. To speed service, fares are not collected onboard the shuttle, but valid Metro fare is still required to pass the faregates at the station and enter the platform.

Aviation/LAX station is an elevated light rail station on the C Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located over Aviation Boulevard, after which the station is named, near its intersection with Imperial Highway and just south of Century Freeway in Los Angeles, California.A free LAX Shuttle bus connects this station to Los Angeles International Airport; however, when the K Line fully opens in 2024, this shuttle will be replaced by the LAX Automated People Mover which will connect with LAX/Metro Transit Center station, and this station will then be renamed Aviation/Imperial station. The original name was Aviation Blvd/I-105 station but was later simplified and its location close to LAX clarified, with a change to Aviation/LAX. The train platform, currently suitable for two-car trains, are planned to be lengthened by 2028 to accommodate three-car trains to enable increased capacity of the line.
