St Mary the Virgin's Church, Great Bircham

Bircham is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It includes the three villages of Great Bircham, Bircham Newton and Bircham Tofts. The parish is located about 12 miles (20 km) north-east of the town of King's Lynn and 37 miles (60 km) north-west of the city of Norwich.[1] The civil parish has an area of 9.58 square miles (24.82 km2) and in the 2011 census had a population of 448 in 202 households. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk.[2]

Great Bircham is the largest of the three villages that make up the civil parish of Bircham, in the west of the English county of Norfolk. The village is located about half a mile south of the village of Bircham Newton, the same distance west of the village of Bircham Tofts,12 miles north-east of the town of King's Lynn, and 38 miles north-west of the city of Norwich.[1] The King's Head is a hotel and bar. In 1931 the parish had a population of 327. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished to form Bircham. The villages name means 'homestead/village with newly broken ground'.

Bircham Newton is the smallest of the three villages that make up the civil parish of Bircham, in the west of the English county of Norfolk. The village is located about 1 km north of the larger village of Great Bircham, 20 km north-east of the town of King's Lynn, and 60 km north-west of the city of Norwich. In 1931 the parish had a population of 487. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished to form Bircham. The villages name means 'Bircham's new farm/settlement'. Bircham Newton gave its name to an airfield, RAF Bircham Newton, that was in use through World War II and into the 1960s. From 1966 until 2020 the airfield was the home of the Construction Industry Training Board. In February 2020, the CITB announced it had sold its training provision to West Suffolk College, based in Bury St Edmunds, aiming to continue construction industry training provision at the site.

Bircham Tofts is one of the three villages that make up the civil parish of Bircham, in the west of the English county of Norfolk. The village is located about 1 km east of the village of Great Bircham, 20 km north-east of the town of King's Lynn, and 60 km north-west of the city of Norwich.[1] In 1931 the parish had a population of 96. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished to form Bircham. The villages name means 'Bircham's curtilage'.

Bagthorpe is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Bagthorpe with Barmer, in the King's Lynn and West Norfolk district, in the county of in Norfolk, England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 68. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished to form "Bagthorpe with Barmer". The name of the village derives from 'Bakki's/Bak's outlying farm/settlement' or 'Bacca's outlying farm/settlement'. Although this is uncertain.

Royal Air Force Bircham Newton or more simply RAF Bircham Newton is a former Royal Air Force station located 2.1 miles (3.4 km) south east of Docking, Norfolk and 13.4 miles (21.6 km) north east of King's Lynn, Norfolk, England.

Docking is a village and ancient civil parish in the King's Lynn and West Norfolk borough of Norfolk, England. It is near the North Norfolk Coast Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Docking railway station was a station in Norfolk, serving the village of Docking. It closed to passengers in 1952.

Barwick is a scattered hamlet and civil parish in the north-west part of the English county of Norfolk. It is situated adjacent to the slightly larger village of Stanhoe, some 15 miles (24 km) north-east of King's Lynn and 50 miles (80 km) north-west of the city of Norwich.[1][2] The civil parish has an area of around 2 square miles, and in the 2001 census it had a population of 21 in 8 households. In the 2011 Census, the population remained less than 100 and was included in the civil parish of Docking. Fring is a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 6.93 km2 (2.68 sq mi) and had a population of 94 in 41 households at the 2001 census. The population remained less than 100 at the 2011 Census and was included in the civil parish of Sedgeford. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. There is a small cluster of buildings located along Fring road consisting of Fring All Saints. The villages name means 'Frea's place'. In 1870–72 Fring was described as: "a parish in Docking district, Norfolk; 2¾ miles SW of Docking, and 2 ESE of Sedgeford r. station. Post town, Docking, under Lynn. Acres, 1,710. Real property, £2,065. Pop., 173. Houses, 37." Fring is the traditional source of the River Heacham and a (now) often dry lake bed of approximately one acre marks the point where a spring fed the river. (52°52'56.0"N 0°34'48.4"E).

Anmer is a small village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is around 12 miles (19 km) north-east of the town of King's Lynn and 35 miles (56 km) north-west of the city of Norwich. The parish is in the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk and at the 2001 census had a population of 63 in 29 households. The place-name 'Anmer' is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it appears as Anemere. This name derives from the Old English aened-mere, meaning 'duck mere or lake'. The parish contains evidence of settlement from the Bronze Age onwards, with a number of Bronze Age barrows to the east of the village.Anmer Hall, the former residence of the Duke and Duchess of Kent, dates from the 18th century and stands at the centre of a landscape park laid out in 1793. This led to the clearance of the original medieval settlement and its relocation to the north-west of the hall, creating the modern village. This involved the closure of all roads across the park. A number of earthworks, including a two-metre-deep hollow way, are preserved at the site of the medieval village.The hall is located west of the village and is linked to the nearby Sandringham estate by a long straight road known as ‘The Avenue’. In 2014 it was renovated as the new country home of the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The parish church, which is dedicated to St Mary, is on the Anmer Hall estate. A Grade II* listed building, it was restored in the 19th century.
