RAF Bircham Newton

Bircham Tofts is one of the three villages that make up the civil parish of Bircham, in the west of the English county of Norfolk. The village is located about 1 km east of the village of Great Bircham, 20 km north-east of the town of King's Lynn, and 60 km north-west of the city of Norwich.[1] In 1931 the parish had a population of 96. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished to form Bircham. The villages name means 'Bircham's curtilage'.

Barwick is a scattered hamlet and civil parish in the north-west part of the English county of Norfolk. It is situated adjacent to the slightly larger village of Stanhoe, some 15 miles (24 km) north-east of King's Lynn and 50 miles (80 km) north-west of the city of Norwich.[1][2] The civil parish has an area of around 2 square miles, and in the 2001 census it had a population of 21 in 8 households. In the 2011 Census, the population remained less than 100 and was included in the civil parish of Docking. Bagthorpe is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Bagthorpe with Barmer, in the King's Lynn and West Norfolk district, in the county of in Norfolk, England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 68. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished to form "Bagthorpe with Barmer". The name of the village derives from 'Bakki's/Bak's outlying farm/settlement' or 'Bacca's outlying farm/settlement'. Although this is uncertain.

In 1931 the parish had a population of 487. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished to form Bircham. The villages name means 'Bircham's new farm/settlement'. Bircham Newton gave its name to an airfield, RAF Bircham Newton, that was in use through World War II and into the 1960s. From 1966 until 2020 the airfield was the home of the Construction Industry Training Board. In February 2020, the CITB announced it had sold its training provision to West Suffolk College, based in Bury St Edmunds, aiming to continue construction industry training provision at the site.

St Mary's Church, Great Bircham dates from the 12th-century, and is a Grade I listed parish church in the Church of England Diocese of Norwich in Great Bircham, Norfolk.

Stanhoe is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, 6.4 miles (10.2 km) from the North Sea. It covers an area of 6.06 km2 (2.34 sq mi) and had a population of 196 in 97 households at the 2001 census. The population including Bagthorpe with Barmer at the 2011 Census had increased to 289. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. The village's name is perhaps from the Old English for "stony hill-spur. For a period during the 19th century, its parish priest was Philip Ward, husband of Lord Nelson's daughter Horatia. The village pub, The Duck Inn, is one of the UK’s Top 50 Gastropubs and were named The Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year for the East of England The nearest large village is Docking. Also near Stanhoe are to be found remains of Creake Abbey, near the village of North Creake. Stanhoe was once served by Stanhoe railway station.

Great Bircham is the largest of the three villages that make up the civil parish of Bircham, in the west of the English county of Norfolk. The village is located about half a mile south of the village of Bircham Newton, the same distance west of the village of Bircham Tofts,12 miles north-east of the town of King's Lynn, and 38 miles north-west of the city of Norwich.[1] The King's Head is a hotel and bar. In 1931 the parish had a population of 327. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished to form Bircham. The villages name means 'homestead/village with newly broken ground'.
