Hastings railway station is located on the Stony Point line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the town of Hastings, and it opened on 10 September 1889.The station once had a goods yard opposite the platform, however it is now closed and the tracks have been removed, with a disused crane remaining on site. In 1973, a number of roads in the yard were extended.On 22 June 1981, the passenger service between Frankston and Stony Point was withdrawn and replaced with a bus service, with the line between Long Island Junction and Stony Point also closing on the same day. On 16 September 1984, promotional trips for the reopening of the line began, with the passenger service reinstated on 27 September 1984.The current station building was provided in February 1986, replacing the original timber building.In 2004, points at the Up and Down ends of the station were removed, and the track was straight railed.

The Shire of Hastings was a local government area about 60 kilometres (37 mi) south-southeast of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia, encompassing the eastern extremity of the Mornington Peninsula. The shire covered an area of 304.6 square kilometres (117.6 sq mi), and existed from 1960 until 1994.

Sandstone Island is a small island located approximately one kilometre southeast of the Hastings foreshore in Western Port, Victoria, Australia. Sandstone Island has an area of approximately 19 hectares and is adjacent to Jacks Beach. The island is situated in an area where significant mangrove communities exist. The Island is quite devoid of significant vegetation, however its location in an environmentally significant area in Western Port, places particular emphasis on ensuring appropriate use and development on the Island. The island has been owned by a group of private Sydney buyers since November 2021. Like French Island, Sandstone Island is an unincorporated area under the direct administration of the government of Victoria, and both are subject to the French Island and Sandstone Island Planning Scheme.

It serves the town of Bittern, and it opened on 17 December 1889.Between 1921 and 1953, Bittern was the junction station for a branch line to Red Hill.On 22 June 1981, the passenger service between Frankston and Stony Point was withdrawn and replaced with a bus service, with the line between Long Island Junction and Stony Point also closing on the same day. On 16 September 1984, promotional trips for the reopening of the line began, with the passenger service reinstated on 27 September 1984.Flashing light signals were provided at the nearby Woolleys Road level crossing, located in the Down direction of the station, in 1984, with boom barriers provided later on in 2010.The current passenger shelters were provided in February 1986, replacing the original timber station building.In 1991, a siding at the station was abolished.

Bittern is a rural town in Metropolitan Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula located 82 km southeast from Melbourne's central business district, as a part of the urban enclave on Western Port comprising Bittern, Hastings, Crib Point, Somerville, and Tyabb. Its local government area is the Shire of Mornington Peninsula. It is served by Bittern railway station on the Stony Point greater-metropolitan line and by the 782 bus route operated by Peninsula Bus Lines between Frankston and Flinders. Bittern is named after the shy wetland bird, the Australasian bittern, which reflects the town's location amongst significant areas of native bushland and dense coastal vegetation.

Tyabb Airport (ICAO: YTYA), also called Tyabb Airfield, is a small regional airport located just west of the town of Tyabb, Victoria on the Mornington Peninsula. Tyabb is the site of the Tyabb Air Show, which is held every two years.

Tyabb recorded a population of 3,449 at the 2021 census.Tyabb is within an urban enclave on Western Port comprising Tyabb, Hastings, Bittern, Crib Point, and Somerville. It is served by the Tyabb railway station on the Stony Point railway line. Statistically it is part of Greater Melbourne. Mornington Peninsula's first Dog only café is located out the back of the Tyabb Packing House.

Morradoo railway station is located on the Stony Point line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the town of Crib Point, and it opened on 7 November 1960 as Rail Motor Stopping Place Number 15. It was renamed Morradoo in 1996.A platform was provided at the stopping place by November 1963. In 1996, the platform was extended to 52 metres in length, and a new shelter was erected. This made the platform the second shortest with a regular service in Victoria (the shortest being at Leawarra, on the same line). The station was renamed as the result of a local competition in 1996, with the winning entry being Morradoo, suggested by Bree Saunders of Crib Point Primary School. Morradoo comes from an Aboriginal word meaning "powder and shot", and was the original name for Crib Point. The Victorian Maritime Centre is an Australian maritime museum near Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is currently located at the former BP administration building at Crib Point, Victoria. There are plans to establish a larger maritime centre in Hastings, Victoria. The new site would feature HMAS Otama, an Oberon-class submarine operated by the Royal Australian Navy from 1978 to 2000. The Otama is currently moored offshore at Crib Point. She has been moored nearby since 2002. The ship Wyuna is also planned to be displayed at the centre. For a time she was docked at Beauty Point, Tasmania, and after being refurbished for 18 months she was to be moved to Docklands in Melbourne, Victoria. After this berth became unavailable, the vessel was docked at Inspection Head Wharf in Beauty Point. After a period there, she was towed into Bell Bay where she lays at anchor as of January 2016.The planned display of the vessels would have the Otama displayed out of the water, with the Wyuna in a wet berth alongside it.

Westernport Refinery was an oil refinery operated by BP at Crib Point adjacent to Westernport Bay in the Australian state of Victoria. It was constructed from 1963 and started operations in 1966. Its last day of operation was 1 April 1985.Construction of the refinery began in December 1963. It was designed with an initial throughput of 1,500,000 tons of crude oil per annum, and able to be expanded to 2,200,000 tons per annum. It was served by a jetty with two berths for import of crude oil and export of refined products in bulk.

HMAS Otama (SS 62/SSG 62) was an Oberon-class submarine of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). Built in Scotland, the submarine was the last of the class to enter service when commissioned into the RAN in 1978. Otama was a specialist, one of two "Mystery Boats", fitted with additional surveillance and intelligence-gathering equipment. Otama was routinely deployed on classified operations to obtain intelligence on Soviet Pacific Fleet vessels and Chinese Navy vessels, and conducted associated coastal surveillance, throughout Asia. The submarine was part of the RAN's largest flag-showing cruise in the Indian Ocean during 1980. From 1983 to 1985, she underwent an extensive upgrade. In August 1987, two submariners died when Otama submerged while they were still working in the fin. Otama remained in service until late 2000; a delay from her original planned decommissioning date to help attenuate the problems with the replacement Collins-class submarines. Otama was sold to the Western Port Oberon Association in 2001, which planned to preserve her as a museum vessel as part of the proposed Victorian Maritime Centre. Submissions to build the maritime museum at various locations on the Mornington Peninsula were repeatedly rebuffed. In late 2008, the submarine was listed for sale on eBay, but despite several expressions of interest, Otama was not sold. In-principle approval to build the Victorian Maritime Centre on reclaimed land adjacent to the Western Port Marina at Hastings was granted in 2013, but as of 2016, planning permits have not been approved.
