Cold Ashton is a village in South Gloucestershire, England. It is located 5 miles (8.0 km) north of Bath, near the junction between the A46 and A420 roads. The village church has a 14th-century tower and the rest of the church was rebuilt in the 16th century by Thomas Key, its rector. It had a population of 221 according to the 2011 census. In the 1870s, Cold Ashton was described as A parish in Chipping-Sodbury district, Gloucester; on the verge of the county, under the Cotswolds, 5¾ miles N of Bath r. station. It includes the village of Pennsylvania; and its Post Town is Marshfield under Chippenham. The stone-walled main street together with the close alignment of the manor house, the Old Rectory and the courthouse, give the village an intimate character.

Dyrham Park () is a baroque English country house in an ancient deer park near the village of Dyrham in South Gloucestershire, England. The house, with the attached orangery and stable block, is a Grade I listed building, while the park is Grade II* listed on the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. The current house was built for William Blathwayt in stages during the 17th and early 18th centuries on the site of a previous manor house, with the final facade being designed by William Talman. It contains art works and furniture from around the world, particularly Holland, and includes a collection of Dutch Masters. The house is linked to the 13th-century church of St Peter, also Grade I listed, where many of the Blathwayt family are buried. The house is surrounded by 274 acres (111 ha) of formal gardens, and parkland which used to support a herd of fallow deer. The grounds, which were originally laid out by George London and later developed by Charles Harcourt Masters, include water features and statuary. The house and estate are now owned by the National Trust and underwent extensive renovation in 2014 and 2015. They are open to the public on some days and host events and attractions, including open-air concerts. They have also been used as a location for film and television productions.

Dyrham is a village and parish in South Gloucestershire, England.

South Gloucestershire is a unitary authority area in the ceremonial county of Gloucestershire, South West England. Towns in the area include Yate, Chipping Sodbury, Thornbury, Filton, Patchway and Bradley Stoke. The southern part of its area falls within the Greater Bristol urban area surrounding the city of Bristol. South Gloucestershire was created in 1996 to replace the Northavon district of the abolished county of Avon. It is separate from Gloucestershire County Council, but is part of the ceremonial county and shares Gloucestershire's Lord Lieutenant (the Sovereign's representative to the county). Because of its history as part of the county of Avon, South Gloucestershire works closely with the other unitary authorities that took over when that county was abolished, including shared services such as Avon Fire and Rescue Service and Avon and Somerset Police, together with co-operation in planning strategy for transport, roads and housing.

St. Catherine's Valley (grid reference ST760725) is a 156.1 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest southwest of the village of Marshfield, South Gloucestershire, notified in 1997. At the Marshfield end of the valley, a large naturalised population of Dragon's Teeth (Tetragonolobus maritimus), a species not native to Britain, is present; it was first found by Rev. E. Ellman in 1927.

The Battle of Deorham (or Dyrham) is portrayed by the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle as an important military encounter between the West Saxons and the Britons in the West Country in 577. The Chronicle depicts the battle as a major victory for Wessex's forces, led by Ceawlin and one Cuthwine, resulting in the capture of the Romano-British towns of Glevum (Gloucester), Corinium Dobunnorum (Cirencester), and Aquae Sulis (Bath).

West Littleton is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Tormarton, in the South Gloucestershire district, in the ceremonial county of Gloucestershire, England. It is located between the M4 and the A420. The closest amenities are in Marshfield and the historic city of Bath is a short distance to the south. The stately home, Dyrham Park, is located a few hundred metres from the village. In 1931 the parish had a population of 65.West Littleton shot to international attention as being the hideout retreat for Hugh Grant at the time of his alleged affair with a Los Angeles prostitute. The world's press descended upon this charming little village and camped outside Grant's house. The village boasts approximately 25 houses and has a population of around 50 inhabitants. There is a working farm, a red telephone box and a church. The Beaufort Hunt regularly uses the village green as a starting point for their hunts though this has been somewhat curtailed due to the recent legislation banning fox hunting. West Littleton is considered a gem of a village with a farming background. Some houses in the village date back to the 15th century with some possibly even back to the 14th. On 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged with Tormarton.

Monkswood Valley (grid reference ST754710) is a 30.7-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) near the village of Cold Ashton, South Gloucestershire, notified in 1990.Monkswood Reservoir, built in 1896 and now owned by Wessex Water, is situated in the valley of the SSSI. The SSSI is woodland and grassland on the sloping land north and south of the reservoir and its tributary.The woodlands contain Fraxinus excelsior – Acer campestre – Mercurialis perennis (Ash–field Maple–Dog's Mercury) areas, which has limited distribution in Great Britain.The SSSI has four areas: Monk Woods, Hunterwick Wood & Hartley Wood, Frys Farm and Valley. St. Catherine's Valley SSSI is immediately to the north-east.The Gloucestershire–Somerset border runs through the reservoir and SSSI. The SSSI is adjacent to the Limestone Link long-distance footpath.

Hinton is a village in South Gloucestershire, England. It is one mile north of Dyrham and forms part of the civil parish of Dyrham and Hinton. The Bull is the local pub.

Doynton is a village in South Gloucestershire, England. The population of this village taken at the 2011 census was 320.

Royal Air Force Charmy Down or more simply RAF Charmy Down is a former Royal Air Force station in Somerset, England, approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) north-northeast of Bath and 96 miles (154 km) west of London. Opened in 1941, it was used initially by the RAF and from 1943 by the United States Army Air Forces, primarily as a night fighter interceptor airfield. It was closed in 1946. Today the remains of the airfield are on private property and are used as agricultural fields.

St Mary Magdalene's Church at Langridge in the parish of Charlcombe, Somerset, England dates from the 12th century and has been designated as a Grade I listed building. It was restored by James Wilson between 1857 and 1861.There is a small nave and a two-stage Norman tower. Also Norman are the chancel arch (restored 1870) and south doorway. Above the chancel arch is a rare figure of the Virgin and Child, described by English Heritage as 13th-century, but by the church guidebook as "probably 11th century". The apse was added by Charles Edward Davis, the Bath City Architect, between 1869 and 1872.In the nave are various monuments and memorials. A 37-inch (94 cm) brass of Elizabeth Walsche, who died in 1441, depicted in widow's weeds, was stolen in 2002. Another monument, this one in stone, to the same woman remains. Other members of the family also commemorated including a brass dating from 1790 which was drawn by Samuel Hieronymus Grimm.The parish is part of the benefice of Weston, Bath All Saints with North Stoke and Langridge within the deanery of Bath.
