Lake Acworth is a 260-acre (110 ha) artificial lake southwest of the city of Acworth, Georgia. It is in the extreme northwestern part of Cobb County. The lake impounds Proctor Creek (not the same as Proctor Creek in nearby Atlanta), and outflows into Lake Allatoona. The low dam is at the point where State Route 92 (Lake Acworth Drive) crosses. (34.0584°N 84.693°W / 34.0584; -84.693 (Lake Acworth Dam)) The city operates Acworth Beach, a public beach and park along the lake's northern shore. It was created by trucking white sand in and putting it over the rust-red clay soil common to the region. Swimming is roped off with floats for protection from the boaters. The Lake Acworth Beach and Beachhouse were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

North Cobb Christian School is an independent, college preparatory Christian school located in Kennesaw, Georgia, United States. It enrolls children from K3-12th grade. The school offers a variety of honors and AP classes, clubs, and a variety of middle school, junior varsity and varsity sports. In addition to academic requirements mandated by the school board, a minimum of 28 hours of community service is required to graduate from North Cobb Christian School.

The Acworth Downtown Historic District, in Acworth, Georgia, is a historic district roughly bounded by Southside Dr., Federal and Lemon Sts, and Senator Richard B. Russell Ave. It is 14 acres (5.7 ha) in area and includes 32 contributing buildings and a contributing structure.It is a linear district along Main Street and the CSX railway tracks.

Acworth is a city in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, this city had a population of 22,440, up from 20,425 in 2010. Acworth is located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains along the southeastern banks of Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona on the Etowah River. Unincorporated areas known as Acworth extend into Bartow, Cherokee and Paulding counties. Acworth's is often referred to as "the Lake City" because of its proximity to Lake Allatoona and Lake Acworth.

North Cobb High School is a public high school located north of Atlanta in Kennesaw, Georgia, United States. It serves approximately 2900 students in the Cobb County School District, with classes from grades 9 to 12. The school mascot is the warrior and the official school colors are orange and white. North Cobb is the second largest school in the district. North Cobb was established in 1958, replacing Acworth High School, and is one of the oldest high schools in Cobb County. North Cobb has a magnet program designated for international studies. In 2016, North Cobb was named an International Skills Diploma School by the Georgia Department of Education. An on-campus preschool provides field experience for students interested in pursuing early childhood education. North Cobb offers Advanced Placement programs such as AP Human Geography, AP Language, AP United States History, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP European History, AP Seminar, AP World History, AP United States Government and AP Environmental Science.

Allatoona High School is one of eighteen public high school in the Cobb County School District. The institution opened in the fall of 2008, and is currently the most recent high school in the district. It is located in suburban Acworth, Georgia, north of Atlanta, in the United States. The school is named after the nearby Lake Allatoona.

North Metro Technical College (commonly North Metro Tech, or NMTC ) was a two-year state technical college located in the state of Georgia, and governed by the Technical College System of Georgia. The college was accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees since 2006. Since the beginning of July 2009, it is now the North Metro campus of nearby Chattahoochee Technical College.

Carl Harrison High School, commonly known as Harrison High School or simply Harrison is a grades 9-12 public high school in Kennesaw, Georgia, United States.

The Battle of Gilgal Church (June 15, 1864) was an action during the Atlanta Campaign in the American Civil War. The Union army of William Tecumseh Sherman and the Confederate army led by Joseph E. Johnston fought a series of battles between June 10 and 19 along a front stretching northeast from Lost Mountain to Pine Mountain to Brushy Mountain. At Gilgal Church, attacks by the divisions of John W. Geary and Daniel Butterfield from Joseph Hooker's XX Corps were repulsed with about 700 casualties by Confederates from William J. Hardee's corps. That day in a separate action, other Union troops overran a Confederate skirmish line, capturing about 300 men. Gilgal Church was part of a series of minor actions that included the Battle of Latimer's Farm on June 17–18. After the Battle of Dallas on May 28, Sherman moved northeast until he reached the Western and Atlantic Railroad at Acworth. On June 4, Johnston abandoned his defensive positions near Dallas and New Hope Church and withdrew to a new line of entrenchments. Sherman was reinforced by Francis Preston Blair Jr.'s XVII Corps, and on June 10 he resumed his offensive. Confederate corps commander Leonidas Polk was killed by an artillery round on June 14 at Pine Mountain. That evening, Johnston withdrew from Pine Mountain and Sherman's forces followed, bringing on the clashes near Gilgal Church. Shortly after the Union attacks failed, Johnston pulled Hardee's corps back to a new line behind Mud Creek. At Latimer's Farm, Union troops from Oliver Otis Howard's IV Corps gained a foothold in the Confederate line. On June 19, Johnston's Army of Tennessee fell back to fresh defenses based on Kennesaw Mountain.

Allatoona is an unincorporated community in Bartow County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. The community is located along Allatoona Creek, 6 miles (9.7 km) southeast of Cartersville. It was once a small mining community until a dam was erected at the base of the Etowah River, completely flooding the town of Allatoona. It is today perhaps best known as the site of the Battle of Allatoona.

Kennesaw Mountain High School is a public high school located in Kennesaw, Cobb County, Georgia, United States. It was founded in 2000 as a magnet school specializing in science and mathematics, and is one of sixteen high schools in the Cobb County School District.
