Julington Creek Plantation, Florida

Julington Creek is a stream in Duval County, Florida, near Jacksonville. Durbin Creek is a tributary. Julington Creek feeds into the St Johns River widening out into Old Bull Bay. Both are navigable by paddlecraft and has a marina on it.Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote about her visits to the creek while she was living in Mandarin, Florida, in Palmetto Leaves (1873).

Switzerland is along the eastern bank of the St. Johns River, across from Green Cove Springs and Middleburg in Clay County, and is south of Jacksonville. The name derives from the late 18th century and early 19th century New Switzerland Plantation of Francis Philip Fatio, which was established between 1771, when Fatio arrived in Florida, and 1774, when Fatio moved from the New Castle Plantation to New Switzerland.In the 1970s and 1980s, the Switzerland area had one K-12 school named Julington Creek Elementary. In 1981, Allen D Nease Jr-Sr High School was opened and three feeder schools, Julington Creek Elementary, Mill Creek Elementary and Ponte Vedra Elementary 7-12th graders moved to Nease Jr-Sr High School. There are many schools in the Switzerland area. The main elementary schools are Hickory Creek Elementary and Cunningham Creek Elementary. The middle school is Switzerland Point Middle School, and the high school is Bartram Trail High School.

Mandarin is a neighborhood located in the southernmost portion of Jacksonville, in Duval County, Florida, United States. It is located on the eastern banks of the St. Johns River, across from Orange Park. The Mandarin Store and Post Office, officially known as the Mandarin Museum and also known as the Walter Jones Store and Post Office Museum, is a historic site in Jacksonville, Florida, United States. It is located at 12471 Mandarin Road. On October 1, 2001, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The general store was in operation from 1911 until 1964, and is operated as a museum by the Mandarin Museum & Historical Society. The museum features some of the store's original furnishings and period memorabilia, and is open twice a month.

As of 2010, it is the second-largest high school in Duval County following Sandalwood High School. Maple Leaf is a United States National Historic Landmark in Jacksonville, Florida, United States. Maple Leaf, a side paddlewheel steamship, was first launched as a freight and passenger vessel from the Marine Railway Yard in Kingston, Upper Canada in 1851. The 181-foot (55 m) sidewheel paddle steamer measured 24.7-foot (7.5 m) at the beam.

The Julington-Durbin Preserve is a 2,031-acre nature preserve operated by the St. Johns River Water Management District in Duval County, Florida. The preserve shares the name of the two creeks that border the preserve and connect to the St. Johns River. Julington Creek is on the north side of the preserve, and Durbin Creek is to the south. The preserve has three designated hiking trails. Recreational activities include picnicking, horseback riding, bicycling, and hiking.

More than a decade ago, the school was ranked number 327 by Newsweek magazine in the top 1,300 high schools in the United States.The attendance boundary includes a portion of Fruit Cove.

The Henry Holland Buckman Bridge carries I-295 West Beltway traffic over the St. Johns River in Jacksonville, Florida. It was named for Henry Holland Buckman, a prominent legislator and attorney who was instrumental in establishing the Florida state road system.

Winterbourne (also known as the John Ferguson House) is a historic home in Orange Park, Florida. It is located at 2104 Winterbourne West, Orange Park, Fl 32073 on the St. Johns River. On February 23, 1996, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
