Knightsland Farm House is a Grade II* listed farmhouse in South Mimms in Hertfordshire, England. It dates from the 16th century, with later additions, and is timber-framed with a brick casing. The associated barn is also Grade II* listed.The house is known for its four c. 1590–1610 wall-paintings on the first floor, depicting the parable of the Prodigal Son.

Dyrham Park Country Club is a country house, estate and golf club in Hertfordshire, England, near Dancers Hill, several miles northeast of Borehamwood, and to the north of Barnet. It is a white Palladian mansion, set in two hundred acres, with an 18-hole golf course, adjacent to East Barnet Golf Club. The estate was originally settled as a manor in Elizabethan times and the current Palladian mansion was built in the 19th century. The house was renovated in the 1960s and the golf course was established in 1963. The house has been listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England since May 1949.

Dancers Hill House is a Grade II listed house in Dancers Hill, Hertfordshire, England. The current house dates from c.1750–60, with later additions, and was probably built for Charles Ross, a Westminster builder, who leased 10 acres from David Hechstetter Jr. for 80 years in 1750. The grotto north-east of the house is also Grade II listed.The house has been used as a school, and during the Second World War it was part of Camp 33, which housed Italian prisoners of war.In 2018, the owners, Nigel and Melanie Walsh, who bought the house in 1992, offered it for sale by raffle, with a winner being drawn in January 2020.

Dancers Hill is located in Hertfordshire, England, immediately south of the route of the M25 motorway. It is in the historic county of Middlesex. The disputed manor of Mandeville was said to lie on the hill and to be part of the manor of South Mimms.It is now best known for the grade II listed Dancers Hill House (c. 1750–60) and for Dancers Hill Road which runs between St Albans Road in the west and Ganwick Corner in the west via Bentley Heath. The road is joined by Baker Street on its north side and Kitts End Road on its south side. Dancers Lane runs north from Dancers Hill Road past Dancers Hill House before joining Wash Lane. Dancers Hill Farmhouse, in Dancers Lane, is also grade II listed as are the Green Dragon public house (c.1830) in St Albans Road and the nearby bridge over the Mimmshall Brook.Just to the southwest of Dancers Hill is Dyrham Park, with its Grade II listed mansion.

South Mimms services is a motorway service area accessible from Junction 23 of the M25 motorway which is also Junction 1 of the A1(M), in England near South Mimms, Hertfordshire. Constructed in 1986 as the first service area on the M25, it is operated by Welcome Break. It is built on the site of Bignell's Corner, named after a garden centre, Bignell and Cutbush, which was close to the junction of the old A6, and A1. At the junction there was also a pub, the Middlesex Arms, and an Esso Motor hotel, near which developed a notorious truck stop and the Beacon Cafe.

Barnet Countryside Centre is a 3.3 hectare Site of Local Importance for Nature Conservation in High Barnet in the London Borough of Barnet. It is run by the Friends of Barnet Countryside Centre as a nature reserve and to provide environmental education for schools.The site has areas of native woodland which support a wide variety of birds. Several small ponds have frogs, newts and the ruddy darter dragonfly. More open areas have a good variety of insects including the small copper butterfly and Roesel's bush-cricket.The site was formerly a playing field, and in 1975 it was established as an environmental education centre. In 2009 Barnet Council gave planning permission to the Noah's Ark Children's Hospice for the redevelopment of the site. The nature reserve is still maintained by the Friends, but there is no public access. It can be viewed from Byng Road and from a footpath between Byng Road and Cavendish Road.

Dame Alice Owen's School (also known as Dame Alice Owen's or Owen's; referred to by the acronym DAOS) is an 11–18 mixed, partially selective secondary school and sixth form with academy status in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, England. It is part of the Dame Alice Owen's Foundation; its trustees are the Worshipful Company of Brewers. It was founded in Islington as a boys' school for 30 students in 1613, which makes it one of the oldest schools in the United Kingdom, and is named after its founder, the 17th-century philanthropist Alice Owen. Over time, the boys' school expanded. A girls' school was built in 1886, and the two schools were merged in 1973; the mixed school moved to its current location at Dugdale Hill Lane in Potters Bar in stages between 1973 and 1976. The school is one of the highest performing state schools in England and Wales in terms of the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) and GCE Advanced Level (A-Level) results, and is widely considered one of the best schools in the UK. In 2016, it was named the State Secondary School of the Year by The Sunday Times in the newspaper's rankings for the 2016–17 school year, and also received strong praise from Tatler and The Daily Telegraph. In 2020, it was named Regional State School of the Decade for the South East of England by The Sunday Times.

Potters Bar Urban District was a local government district in England from 1894 to 1974, covering the town of Potters Bar and the village of South Mimms. The district was initially called the South Mimms Rural District, being renamed in 1934. Potters Bar Urban District was transferred from Middlesex to Hertfordshire in 1965, and abolished in 1974 to become part of Hertsmere.

The M16 motorway was the designation planned in the late 1960s and early 1970s for use on Ringway 3, a new motorway planned as part of the London Ringways Plan to run a circular route around London.Construction of the first section of the M16 began in 1973 between South Mimms and Potters Bar in Hertfordshire and opened in September 1975 with the temporary general purpose road designation A1178. During construction of the first section of the motorway, the majority of the Ringways plan was cancelled and, in 1975 the plans for Ringway 3 were modified to combine it with parts of another motorway, Ringway 4, the outermost Ringway.The M16 designation was dropped and the combined motorway was given the designation M25 which had originally been intended for the southern and western part of Ringway 4.The section of Ringway 3 west of South Mimms anti-clockwise around London to Swanley in Kent was cancelled and the section clockwise from Potters Bar to the Dartford Tunnel was constructed between 1979 and 1982. The section of Ringway 3 south of the river between Dartford and Swanley was constructed between 1974 and 1977. The South Mimms junction was originally intended to be the end of a short spur connecting the A1 to the M16. The main alignment of the M16 would have continued south-west of the junction towards Radlett and Bushey. Evidence of this unbuilt alignment remains in the wide gap between the carriageways to the east of the South Mimms junction which would have been the point at which the spur would have separated from the continuing carriageway.

Old Fold Manor Golf Club House, in the London Borough of Barnet, is a grade II listed building.Old Ford Manor was founded in 1910 by Viscount Enfield. The Club is believed to built on the battleground of the Battle of Barnet.

Ridge is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of South Mimms and Ridge, in the Hertsmere borough of Hertfordshire, situated between Potters Bar and Shenley. At the 2011 Census population of Ridge parish was 177.It has a church, St Margaret's; a children's playground; and the Old Guinea public house, which serves food on most days. The village holds an annual fete on the August bank holiday. Ridge is surrounded by countryside with numerous public footpaths. In 1926, the parish boundary between Ridge, Hertfordshire, and South Mimms, Middlesex, was subject to a minor adjustment.Clare Hall in Ridge is a former manor house, built around 1745 by Thomas Roberts, a linen draper from St Albans. It was originally called Clay Hall and renamed Clare Hall in 1750. From 1886 to 1974, Clare Hall was used as an isolation hospital for diseases including smallpox and tuberculosis. It was taken over by the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in 1980 as a research laboratory. It is now part of the Francis Crick Institute.Field Marshal Harold Alexander, 1st Earl Alexander of Tunis, the World War II commander and former Governor General of Canada, is buried in St Margaret's churchyard.

Wrotham Park (pronounced , ROO-təm) is a neo-Palladian English country house in the parish of South Mimms, Hertfordshire. It lies south of the town of Potters Bar, 17 miles (27 km) from Hyde Park Corner in central London. The house was designed by Isaac Ware in 1754 for Admiral John Byng, the fourth son of Admiral George Byng, 1st Viscount Torrington, and remains in the family at the heart of a 2,500-acre (10 km2) estate. It is one of the largest private houses near London inside the M25 motorway. Its distinctive exterior has been used over 60 times as a filming location. The house is listed as a Grade II* building on the National Heritage List for England, and its landscaped park and gardens are Grade II listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.
