Partickhill railway station

Partick (Scots: Pairtick, Scottish Gaelic: Partaig) is an area of Glasgow on the north bank of the River Clyde, just across from Govan. To the west lies Whiteinch, to the east Yorkhill and Kelvingrove Park (across the River Kelvin), and to the north Broomhill, Hyndland, Dowanhill, Hillhead, areas which form part of the West End of Glasgow. Partick was a Police burgh from 1852 until 1912 when it was incorporated into the city. Partick is the area of the city most connected with the Highlands, and several Gaelic agencies, such as the Gaelic Books Council (Scottish Gaelic: Comhairle nan Leabhraichean) are located in the area. Some ATMs in the area display Gaelic.

Hamilton Crescent is a cricket ground in the Partick area of Glasgow, Scotland, which is the home of the West of Scotland Cricket Club. Hamilton Crescent hosted the first international football match, between Scotland and England, played on 30 November 1872, which ended in a goalless draw, and was watched by a crowd of 4,000. A plaque on the wall of the clubhouse was placed to commemorate the match in 2002 by Mr John C McGinn, President of the Scottish Football Association.Further international matches were held here in 1874 and 1876, before being moved to the first Hampden Park. The 1877 Scottish Cup Final was also held at Hamilton Crescent, as was a rugby union international when Scotland and Wales drew their match in the 1885 Home Nations Championship.The gates are typically closed to visitors.

Merkland Street station was one of the 15 subway stations in Glasgow, Scotland. It is the only station on the system that has closed permanently. The station opened in 1896. It was located 25 metres (27 yd) to the south-west of its replacement, Partick station and about 300 metres (330 yd) to the south of Partickhill railway station. It closed permanently in 1977 when the rest of the network was closed for modernisation. The modernisation had been announced in 1974 by the subway's then operators, the Greater Glasgow Passenger Transport Executive (GGPTE). Although converted to electric traction in 1935 the systems infrastructure and rolling stock was virtually unchanged from its opening in 1896, and improvement to the subway was seen by the GGPTE as an essential part of plans to eliminate transport bottlenecks in the city. As part of the process, which began in 1977, all 15 stations were to be rebuilt. However it was planned to link the subway to the national rail network's newly reopened Argyle Line at Partick via an interchange station. This meant permanently closing Merkland Street and opening a new station a short distance away.Thus, when the network reopened in 1980, it was replaced by a new station nearby named Partick, offering direct transfers to the rail station of the same name. There is evidence of Merkland Street station's existence due to a long straight and humped stretch on the underground with large diameter tunnels, although the platforms and station buildings no longer remain. On 18 September 1940, during World War II, a German bomb, which dropped during a night raid on Glasgow and may have been intended for nearby naval facilities, landed on a bowling green to the south of the station. The explosion this caused resulted in damage to both tunnels and closure of this part of the system until repairs were completed in January 1941.Merkland Street is one of the stations mentioned in Cliff Hanley's song The Glasgow Underground.

Partick Burgh Hall is a municipal facility in Burgh Hall Street, Partick, Scotland. The hall, which was the headquarters of Partick Burgh Council in the early 20th century, is a Category B listed building.

Partick (Scottish Gaelic: Partaig) is an interchange station in the Partick area of Glasgow, Scotland. Along with the adjacent bus station, it forms one of the main transport hubs in Glasgow. As of 2022, it is the fifth-busiest station in Scotland. The station is served by Glasgow Subway and ScotRail services and was one of the first to receive bilingual English and Gaelic signs, due to the significant Gaelic-speaking population in the surrounding Partick area.

Partickhill (Scottish Gaelic: A' Bhrae na Partaig) is a district of the city of Glasgow. Located to the north of Partick, south of Hyndland and west of Dowanhill, it contains mixed housing stock of tenemental type property and villa style houses, as well as some terraced homes.

Hyndland Secondary School is a non-denominational state comprehensive school in the Hyndland area of Glasgow, Scotland. The school provides secondary education for children from the local area, although there are many children from other areas of the city. The school is part of the Hyndland New Learning Community, which consists of the school, its feeder primaries and other local children's services, and of which the former Headmaster, John F Alexander, was the Principal. Hyndland is also the only school in Glasgow where wearing uniform is not required on a day-to-day basis.

Meadowside was a football ground in the Partick area of Glasgow, Scotland. It was the home ground of Partick Thistle from 1897 until 1908.

Crow Road railway station was located in Glasgow, Scotland and served the Broomhill and Hyndland areas of that city. On the Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire Railway it was located on the road from which it took its name and sat to the north of a tunnel which connected it with Partick West railway station. The line ran on to Kelvinside railway station. This route went underneath the present day Hyndland railway station, which opened the day before Crow Road closed, on the present Argyle and North Clyde lines.

St Peter's Boys School was a Roman Catholic school in Stewartville Street, Partick, Scotland. It is no longer a school, having merged with Notre Dame Primary School in 2013. The building has been converted into a block of flats and the old playgrounds are residents' car parks.

Partick Police Station, previously known as Partick Police Court and also as the Old Burgh Hall, is a former municipal and judicial building on Anderson Street in Partick, Scotland. The building, which was previously the meeting place of the burgh council and now serves as the offices of the Centre for Sensory Impaired People, is a Category B listed building.
