Immanuel Church Highlands (Wilmington, Delaware)

Gibraltar (previously known as the Hugh Rodney Sharp Mansion), located at 2505 Pennsylvania Avenue in Wilmington, Delaware, is a country estate home dating from c. 1844 that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It takes its name from the Rock of Gibraltar, alluding to the high rocky outcrop on which the house was built. It is located just inside Wilmington's city limits and originally stood at the center of a much larger estate which has over time been reduced to the present area of about a city block in size. The house was originally built by John Rodney Brincklé and inherited by his brother's wife and children, before being bought in 1909 by Hugh Rodney Sharp, who was linked to the Du Pont family through marriage and work. Sharp expanded and remodeled the house, as well as commissioning the pioneering female landscape designer Marian Cruger Coffin to lay out the gardens.The gardens are now owned by a local preservation trust which acquired it in the 1990s after it was threatened with demolition and redevelopment. They have since been restored and opened to the public. The estate was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 in recognition of its importance as a well-preserved example of the Country Place era of art and design. The mansion, currently owned by a local developer, has not been occupied for many years and its condition has significantly deteriorated.

Rockford Park is a historic public park located in a residential area of Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. It is characterized by a large, grassy meadow which slopes gently upward to a large knoll overlooking the Brandywine River. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The park is a unit of Delaware's Wilmington State Parks.

Wawaset Park is a planned community national historic district located on the western edge of the City of Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. The area was formerly the grounds of Schuetzen Park, a horse racing and later auto racing track and fairgrounds. It was purchased in 1917 by the DuPont Company and developed into single-family houses, semi-detached and row houses to meet the housing need for the company's expanding corporate staff. The historic district encompasses 321 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure.The neighborhood's design by noted Baltimore architect Edward L. Palmer, Jr., with curvilinear streets and ample lawns giving it the setting of a suburb within the city, was influenced by the work of Frederick Law Olmsted, and its architecture includes Tudor cottages, Georgian mansions, and elements of the Picturesque and Gothic styles. The dwellings are unified by slate roofing.The historic district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Delaware Art Museum is an art museum located on the Kentmere Parkway in Wilmington, Delaware, which holds a collection of more than 12,000 objects. The museum was founded in 1912 as the Wilmington Society of the Fine Arts in honor of the artist Howard Pyle. The collection focuses on American art and illustration from the 19th to the 21st century, and on the English Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood movement of the mid-19th century. The museum building was expanded and renovated in 2005 and includes a 9-acre (36,000 m2) Sculpture Park, the Helen Farr Sloan Library and Archives, studio art classes, a children's learning area, as well as a cafe and museum store.

The Water Witch Steam Fire Engine Company No. 5 is a historic fire station at 1814 Gilpin Avenue in Wilmington, Delaware. The 2+1⁄2-story brick building was designed by Edward L. Rice, Jr., a leading Wilmington architect, and built in 1893. The building is an architecturally eclectic mix of Queen Anne and Second Empire styling, and has retained many of its original interior details.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Logan House is a historic hotel located at Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built in 1865, and is a three-story, five bay by five bay, flat roofed brick building with Italianate elements. It has three one-story wings; one original brick wing, a wing added about 1910, and a concrete block wing added about 1960. Also on the property is a contributing brick carriage house. The hotel was named for American Civil War General John A. Logan. It has been owned by the Kelly family since 1889 and has been a traditional gathering place on St. Patrick's Day. In the 1930s, the hotel closed and only a restaurant and tavern remained in operation.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The Delaware Academy of Medicine, also known as the Academy/DPHA is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1930. Its mission is to enhance the well-being of the community through education and the promotion of public health. It is now located at 4765 Ogletown-Stanton Road (Route 4) in Newark, Delaware. Under the leadership of executive director, Timothy E. Gibbs, MPH, NPM-c, the Delaware Academy of Medicine became Delaware's affiliate to the American Public Health Association in November 2013 - thus becoming the Delaware Public Health Association. Its new name is the Delaware Academy of Medicine / Delaware Public Health Association, or Academy/DPHA for short. The Academy offers a range of services spanning the spectrum from consumer health education, to student financial aid for medical and dental students, and continuing medical education conferences. The Academy/DPHA serves the general public by holding lectures and seminars to educate the public on important health topics through the Delaware Mini Medical School (a jointly operated program of the Academy/DPHA and Christiana Care Health System) and the Medical Lecture Series at the Osher Academy for Life Long Institute. The Academy/DPHA also has a 11,000+ item archives and history collection of medicine, dentistry, and public health in Delaware. The Academy/DPHA operates and has a hand in many public health programs throughout the state of Delaware. Many other advocacy efforts are conducted in partnership with other public health institutions and nonprofits on a local, regional, and national basis. The academy's first building, located at 1925 Lovering Avenue in Wilmington, is an historic bank building (originally built in 1815 as the second building of the Bank of Delaware), which was moved to its present location by preservationists in 1931-2 to prevent its demolition, and with the intent of providing a home for the academy. It served the academy until 2006, when it moved to the campus of Christiania Care Health System in Newark, DE.

Along Delaware Route 141 there are a number of historic sites that trace the history of both the Du Pont family and the DuPont company. At the southwest end is DuPont’s Chestnut Run Plaza and at the northeastern end is the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. Between are a number of sites on the National Register of Historic Places. The historic locations include equal portion of the history of the American chemical industry, the role of the DuPont family - their estates and gardens - and the philanthropy of a distinguished American family.

St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic church in Wilmington, Delaware. Named in honor of Anthony of Padua, it falls within the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Wilmington and is operated by the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. It is situated in Wilmington's Little Italy neighborhood, where the parish includes St. Anthony's School (adjacent to the church) and Padua Academy. Every June, the church runs an Italian Festival, a week-long event which celebrates the Feast of Saint Anthony. This festival features four outdoor cafes, each with their own live entertainment, and unique food selections. The Festival is the second-largest of its kind in the United States. Admission fees were established for the first time in 2008.The Romanesque revival architectural style owes its inspiration to the Basilica di San Zeno in Verona, Italy. Italian immigrants who settled in the area took seven years to construct the building. Construction was led by Ernesto DiSabatino who later founded EDiS Company and received the Papal Cross of Honor Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice for his efforts for the construction of the church.The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Little Italy is a neighborhood on the west side of Wilmington, Delaware. Little Italy is bounded roughly by 4th Street to the south, Union Street to the west, Clayton Street to the east, and Pennsylvania Avenue to the north. Like other neighborhoods with the "Little Italy" designation, Little Italy in Wilmington has a large Italian-American population. There are several Italian-American owned and operated businesses, including restaurants, law firms, and photographers, located in Little Italy. One of the central features of Little Italy is St. Anthony's of Padua Roman Catholic Church, which also includes a grade school and the Padua Academy, located outside of Little Italy but nearby on Wilmington's west side. St. Anthony's also hosts the Italian Festival, a week-long festival which takes place annually in June and celebrates Italian culture through food, music, a midway with rides and games, and games of chance generally found next to the church building.

Bancroft Mills is an abandoned mill complex along Brandywine Creek in Wilmington, Delaware, United States of America. It has been the site of some of the earliest and most famous mills near Wilmington and was the largest and longest running complex along the Brandywine.
