Leipsydrium

Paeonidae or Paionidai (Ancient Greek: Παιονίδαι), was a deme of ancient Attica, associated with the tribe (phyle) Leontis. It was apparently the same as the Paeonia or Paionia (Παιονίη), which Herodotus located as being below the Attic fortress of Leipsydrium. The site of Paeonidae is located north of modern Acharnes (formerly Menidi) at the foot of Mount Parnes.According to the second-century geographer Pausanias, the Paeonidae were supposed to have been named after Paeon, the son of Antilochus, who was the son of Nestor, and one of the suitors of Helen, who fought in the Trojan War.

The Parnitha Funitel on Mount Parnitha is the successor of an aerial tramway constructed in the 1970s to serve Casino Mont Parnes, the most popular casino in the Athens area, located on one of the peaks of mount Parnitha. Also, it was a common way for Athenians to reach on the peak for family day trips, a popular habit even today. However, since April 2006, a newly built funitel, replacing the older one, was launched and it continues serving its previous purposes. Note, that it was not only a renovation, but a full construction on the place where the older funitel installation once used to be.

Thrakomakedones (Greek: Θρακομακεδόνες from Thrace and Macedonia), is a town in the regional unit East Attica, in Attica region, Greece. It is a northern suburb of Athens. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Acharnes, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 3.550 km2.

The Bafi Refuge (also spelt Mpafi) belongs to the Greek Mountaineering Club, E.O.S. Athens founded in 1928 in the Mount Parnitha National Park, at an altitude of 1160m, roughly 2.5 km from Mont Parness, inside the national park. Ιn April 1937 the refuge's foundation stone was laid. The first part was completed in Autumn of 1939 with money that was collected mainly by the members of the Mountaineering Club, but also other affiliated associations. Paths begin from the shelter leaving in all directions, which can offer small and easy walks of half and one hour or long and difficult walks for the fitter. Access to the refuge is from the street that goes up Parnitha to the casino “Mont Parness”, or from a marked path which begins from the car park of the cable car and via the ravine of Choynis, leading to the shelter. Also, Bathis Square buses of line 714 of OASA leave for the Casino of Parnitha. Today, the refuge is open all year round, it has organised cooking and it offers homemade food, refreshments and drinks. It provides the possibility of overnight stay, with three dormitories of 10, 20 and 30 places, three rooms with four beds, and one room in the loft of the shelter with two beds. During the winter there is central heating.

Acharnes (Greek: Αχαρνές, pronounced [axarˈnes], before 1915: Μενίδι Menidi, pronounced [meˈniði]) is a suburb and a municipality in Attica, Greece, in the West Attica regional unit. With 108,130 inhabitants (2021 census), it is the ninth most populous municipality in Greece. It is part of the Athens urban area.

Acharnae or Acharnai (; Ancient Greek: Ἀχαρναί) was a deme of ancient Athens. It was part of the phyle Oineis.Acharnae, according to Thucydides, was the largest deme in Attica. In the fourth century BCE, 22 of the 500 members of the Athenian council came from Acharnae, more than from any other deme.

Mount Parnitha (Greek: Πάρνηθα, pronounced [ˈparniθa], Katharevousa and Ancient Greek: Πάρνης Parnis/Parnes; sometimes Parnetha) is a densely forested mountain range north of Athens, the highest on the peninsula of Attica, with an elevation of 1,413 m, and a summit known as Karavola (Καραβόλα). Much of the mountain is designated a national park, and is a protected habitat for wildfowl, first created in 1961. The summit is located 18 km north of Acharnes and about 30 km north of Athens city center, while the mountain covers approximately 250 km² of land. Other peaks include Mavrovouni (Μαυροβούνι), Ornio (1,350 m), Area (1,160 m), Avgo or Avgho (1,150 m), and Xerovouni (Ξεροβούνι, meaning "dry mountain": 1,120 m). It also has two shelters Mpafi and Flampouri. The name of the mountain dates back to ancient times, when it was under the ancient demes of Acharnae and Decelea.

Cropia or Kropia (Ancient Greek: Κρωπία) or Cropeia or Kropeia (Κρωπειά), also known as Cropidae or Kropidai, was a deme (or suburb/subdivision) of ancient Attica. The site of Cropia is located west of modern Ano Liosia.

Ano Liosia (Greek: Άνω Λιόσια) is a town and a former municipality in the northern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Fyli, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 38.447 km2.

Acharnes railway station (Greek: Σιδηροδρομικός σταθμός Αχαρνών, romanized: Sidirodromikós stathmós Acharnón) is a station on the Piraeus–Platy railway line in the northern part of the Athens urban area, in the municipality of Acharnes, Greece. It was inaugurated on 8 March 1904. It is owned by OSE, however, services are provided by Hellenic Train through the Athens Suburban Railway from Athens to Chalcis. Acharnes station was originally known as Menidi, the vernacular name of Acharnes.

Yiannis Pathiakakis Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Ano Liosia, Greece. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Akratitos. The stadium holds 5,000 and was built in 1965. It is named after Giannis Pathiakakis, who guided Akratitos from the lower ranks to the top flight but died in 2002 on the pitch during a training session.

Ano Liosia Olympic Hall is a multi-purpose and multi-sport indoor arena that is located in Ano Liosia, in west section of Attica, Greece. The arena was mainly used to host various martial arts tournaments but from 2021 it is used by AEK B.C. for its home games in the Greek Basket League and the Basketball Champions League. The arena's seating capacity for sporting events is 8,327 in permanent tier seating and 9,327 with the collapsible tiers of seating.
