West Athens (Greek: Δυτικός Τομέας Αθηνών) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of Attica. The regional unit covers the west-central part of the agglomeration of Athens.

Peristeri (Greek: Περιστέρι, meaning "pigeon/dove" in Greek) is a city and a suburban municipality in the western part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. With 139,981 inhabitants (2011 census), it is the seventh-largest municipality and city of Greece by population.

Filadelfeia-Chalkidona (Greek: Φιλαδέλφεια-Χαλκηδόνα) is a municipality in the Central Athens regional unit, Attica, Greece. The seat of the municipality is the town Nea Filadelfeia. The municipality has an area of 3.650 km2.

Ilion (Greek: Ίλιον; before 1994: Νέα Λιόσια, Nea Liosia) is a town and a suburb in the western part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece.

Anthoupoli (Greek: Ανθούπολη) is the northern terminal station of Athens Metro Line 2 since the Peristeri extension in April 2013.

Hermus or Hermos (Ancient Greek: Ἕρμος) was a deme of ancient Attica. It lay on the sacred road to Eleusis, between the Cephissus and the Pythium, a temple of Apollo on Mount Poecilum, upon a rivulet of the same name. Here was the splendid monument of Pythonice, the wife of Harpalus.The site of Hermus is tentatively identified with Chaidari.

Peristeri (Greek: Περιστέρι) is a station of Athens Metro Line 2 since the Anthoupoli extension opened on 6 April 2013.

Leuconoe or Leukonoe (Ancient Greek: Λευκονόη), or Leuconoeum or Leukonoion (Λευκόνοιον), or Leukonefs (Λευκονοιεύς) was a deme of ancient Attica of the phyle of Leontis.Its site is tentatively located near modern Peristeri.

Peristeri Stadium (also known as the Atromitos Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium in Peristeri, a city and a suburb within the Athens agglomeration, Greece. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Atromitos.The stadium was built in 1947 and has a seating capacity of 10,050.

Peristeri Indoor Hall Andreas Papandreou, or Peristeri Arena, is an indoor sporting arena that is located in Peristeri, a western suburban town in the Athens agglomeration, Greece. The arena is named after Andreas Papandreou, the former Prime Minister of Greece, who died in 1996. It is located next to Peristeri Stadium. It is owned by the municipality of Peristeri. The seating capacity of the arena for basketball games is 4,000.

The Haidari concentration camp (Greek: στρατόπεδο συγκέντρωσης Χαϊδαρίου, romanized: stratópedo syngéntrosis Chaidaríou; German: KZ Chaidari) was a concentration camp operated by the German Schutzstaffel at the Athens suburb of Haidari during the Axis occupation of Greece in World War II. Operating from September 1943 until it was shut down in September 1944, it was the largest and most notorious concentration camp in wartime Greece, becoming known as the "Bastille of Greece".It was a transit camp established on the grounds of a Greek Army barracks, and it is estimated that in the one year of its operation, some 21,000 people passed through it, including Jews, Italian POWs and Greek political prisoners. The majority of these was transported north, to Auschwitz in the case of the Jews, or to forced labour in Germany, while others were detained for questioning by the Gestapo. It is estimated that ca. 2,000 inmates were executed there during the camp's operation.

The Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Athens (TEI ATH; Greek: Ανώτατο Τεχνολογικό Εκπαιδευτικό Ίδρυμα Αθήνας) was a state higher-educational institute in Athens.Founded in 1983, it originated from one of the first five Centres for Higher Technical Education (Greek: Κέντρα Ανώτερης Τεχνικής Επαγγελματικής Εκπαίδευσης, Κ.Α.Τ.Ε.Ε.) initially established in 1974. The Technological Educational Institute of Athens offered a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate studies.On 1 March 2018 the institute was merged with TEI of Piraeus to create the newly established University of West Attica (Greek: Πανεπιστήμιο Δυτικής Αττικής).
