The Stadium Merdeka (also known as Merdeka Stadium/pronounced [stadiom mə(r).de.kə]; English: Independence Stadium) is a stadium based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is known as the site of the formal declaration of independence of the Federation of Malaya on 31 August 1957. The stadium is also the site of the proclamation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963. Currently owned by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), the stadium has a lower and an upper terrace, with a total capacity of 40,000, as well as 14 tunnels entrance, a covered stand, 50 turnstiles and 4 floodlight tower. The stadium was designed by American architect Stanley Jewkes, under the instruction of the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman. Upon its completion, the stadium holds the world record for the tallest prestressed floodlight towers and the biggest cantilever shell roofs. The stadium was also the largest stadium in the Southeast Asia at the time of completion.The stadium was the principal venue in Kuala Lumpur for celebrations and sporting events until 1998 when the Bukit Jalil National Stadium was built for the 16th Commonwealth Games. Prior to that, the stadium was the home ground for the Malaysian national football team. The stadium witnessed the historic qualifying match of the 1980 Olympic Games, when the national football team last qualified the Olympic Games. However, due to the boycott led by the United States, the country did not participate in the final tournament. The stadium was also the venue for the Merdeka Tournament until 1995. Besides that, the stadium had hosted three out of the five Southeast Asian Games held in Kuala Lumpur. The stadium also hosted the fight between the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali and British boxer Joe Bugner in 1975, prior to the Thrilla in Manila. In 1975, the stadium also hosted the Hockey World Cup final between Pakistan and India. The stadium is currently a national heritage building. In 2008, the Stadium Merdeka received the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Excellence for Heritage Conservation owing to its cultural significance and embodiment of a unique independence declaration event.

Church of the Holy Rosary is a Catholic church situated at Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Kuala Lumpur, and is considered one of the finest examples of neo-gothic architecture in Malaysia.

The Pasar Seni station is an integrated rapid transit station in Kuala Lumpur that is served by the Kelana Jaya Line and the Kajang Line. The station is named after the nearby Central Market (known as Pasar Seni or "Art Market" in Malay) and is located near Petaling Street and the area known as the Chinatown of Kuala Lumpur. It is made up of two separate stations - the older elevated Kelana Jaya Line station which opened on 1 September 1998 whilst the newer underground Kajang Line station which was opened on 17 July 2017. A pedestrian bridge and escalators link the paid areas of both stations, allowing commuters to conveniently transfer between the Kelana Jaya Line and the Kajang Line, while two unpaid linkways connects the Pasar Seni station directly with the Kuala Lumpur station, which is served by the KTM Komuter and KTM ETS services.The station is located next to the Jalan Sultan Mohamed bus hub with buses to Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam and Subang Jaya as well as GOKL buses. Pedestrian bridges also link the station with the Kuala Lumpur General Post Office and the Dayabumi building.

The Victoria Institution is the oldest secondary school in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is a memorial school, so-called because it was partly funded by public subscription intended for the erection of a permanent memorial to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887. The establishment of the school was further supported by financial contributions from the Sultan and government of Selangor, prominent Kuala Lumpur residents, and the general public.The school reverted to its original name (instead of SMK Victoria) in February 2009, after being granted approval in recognition of its having been declared part of Malaysia's national heritage.The Victoria Institution is a secondary school for male students only from Form 1 to 5. Female students are accepted for Form 6 (Lower and Upper). The school is widely known as VI, and a student of the Victoria Institution is known as a Victorian. Performing well both academically and in sports, the VI is considered one of the best non-residential schools in Malaysia. In 2007, VI was named as a Cluster School of Excellence by the then Minister of Malaysian Ministry of Education, Hishamuddin Hussein.

Merdeka 118, also known as Merdeka PNB 118, Warisan Merdeka Tower and KL 118 is a 118-story, 678.9-metre-tall megatall skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is the world's second-tallest building behind the Burj Khalifa. The building's name, Merdeka (which means 'independence'), is inspired by its proximity to two stadiums: Stadium Merdeka and Stadium Negara. The spire of the building was completed in November 2021.The building is expected to be finished by the end of 2022, and will become the tallest in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. It will surpass the 632 m (2,073 ft) Shanghai Tower as the world's second-tallest building and structure, surpassing the 451.9 m (1,483 ft) Petronas Twin Towers as the tallest building in Malaysia, and surpassing the 461 m (1,512 ft) Landmark 81 as the tallest building in ASEAN, also 47 m (154 ft) taller than the Shanghai Tower, 227 m (745 ft) taller than Petronas Twin Towers and 218 m (715 ft) taller than Landmark 81. Taking the title by virtue of its 168.5-metre-tall (553 ft) spire. The building will also be the first in Malaysia to receive a triple platinum rating from worldwide sustainability certifications, including the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

The Malayan Union was a union of the Malay states and the Straits Settlements of Penang and Malacca. It was the successor to British Malaya and was conceived to unify the Malay Peninsula under a single government to simplify administration. Following opposition by the ethnic Malays, the union was reorganised as the Federation of Malaya in 1948.

Hotel Majestic is the historical hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This hotel is located near Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and is part of the Autograph Collection.

The Sri Mahamariamman Temple (Tamil: ஸ்ரீ மகாமாரியம்மன் திருக்கோவில்,கோலாலம்பூர்) is the oldest Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Founded in 1873, it is situated at the edge of Chinatown in Jalan Bandar (formerly High Street). In 1968, a new structure was built, featuring the ornate 'Raja Gopuram' tower in the style of South Indian temples. From its inception, the temple provided an important place of worship for early Indian immigrants and is now an important cultural and national heritage.

The Royal Museum (Malay: Muzium Diraja) along Jalan Istana was the former National Palace (Malay: Istana Negara) and former residence of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (Supreme King) of Malaysia. It stands on a 13-acre (50,000 m2) site, located on a commanding position on the slope of a hill of Bukit Petaling overlooking the Klang River, along Jalan Syed Putra. It was replaced by the new national palace as the official residence of the king in 2011. In 2013, it was converted into The Royal Museum and referred as Old Istana Negara.

The 2003 Merapoh bus tragedy took place on 23 November 2003 when an Ekspres Mutiara (Pearl Express) bus collided with another bus at kilometre 63 of Lipis-Merapoh Road (Federal Route ) near the Pahang-Kelantan border, Malaysia. 14 passengers were killed in this accident. Among those killed were a two-year-old girl, eight women and five men.

Sri Kandaswamy Kovil is a Hindu temple located along Jalan Scott, Brickfields in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The temple is over a century old. It is one of the most prominent Sri Lankan Tamil or Ceylonese Tamil temples in Malaysia. It is huge and showcases rich Sri Lankan Tamil architecture and has become a popular tourist attraction in Kuala Lumpur. The temple architecture is inspired by the Nallur Kandaswamy temple in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. It is reputed to be one of the most orthodox temples in Malaysia where rituals are followed strictly in accordance the rules of Saiva Agama Scriptures. Videography and photography of the shrines are prohibited inside the temple grounds. The Kalamandapam or Kala Hall (adjacent to the temple) which holds wedding ceremonies and cultural events is owned by this temple. It was officiated by the second prime minister of Malaysia, Tun Abdul Razak. Sri Kandaswamy Kovil is managed by the Malaysian Ceylon Saivites Association (MCSA), formerly Selangor Ceylon Saivites Association, and Selangor Ceylon Tamils' Association prior to that. The temple provides religious services such as housewarming ceremonies, newborns' 31st-day ceremonies, blessing of vehicles and so on.

118 Mall, previously known as MERDEKA @ 118, is a seven-storey glass domed shopping mall currently under construction located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The name "118" was derived from the number of floors in the Merdeka 118 tower having at least 118 storeys. The mall is currently being developed and owned by PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), which is also the developer for the Merdeka 118. It is a 1.4-million-square-foot (0.13-million-square-metre) mall situated at the foot of the Merdeka 118 tower and will serve its precinct.
