Barry Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Cymunedol Y Barri) is a hospital on Colcot Road in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It is managed by the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg (previously Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg) is a Welsh medium comprehensive school in the town of Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, on the coast of south Wales. It is located adjacent to Barry Hospital. The school was established in September 2000, in what was formerly the Lower School of Barry Comprehensive School. By 2002, there were 24 teachers and 369 pupils in year 7 to 9 at the school. A quarter of the pupils came from homes where one parent could speak Welsh, and 6% came from homes where both parents could speak Welsh. The school won over 7 awards at the Urdd National Eisteddfod in 2017, and is typically successful for its all-round talents in all fields.

Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School was the partner girls' school that also provides a mixed sixth form for both schools. A new co-educational school reopened on the same site called Whitmore High School.

Romilly is a western district of Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales, United Kingdom. The area has an attractive public park which includes an extensive field and tennis court facilities. It is located around the corner from Cold Knap. An educational centre was built on Romilly Road in 1957.

Barry railway station (Welsh: Y Barri) is one of three stations serving the town of Barry, Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales. It is one of three stations in Barry. This one, Barry Town, is preceded by Barry Docks and Cadoxton stations on the Barry Branch which runs from Cardiff Central to a fourth station at Barry Island, the terminus. Barry is also the junction at the start of the Vale of Glamorgan Line which serves Rhoose and Llantwit Major and terminates at Bridgend. Passenger services are operated by Transport For Wales as part of the Valley Lines network.

The Memo Arts Centre, formerly known as Barry Memorial Hall or Memorial Hall & Theatre, popularly known as The Memo, is a prominent venue in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, currently the "largest multi-arts venue in the Vale of Glamorgan, and only cinema exhibitor in Barry". It is situated in the Gladstone neighbourhood on Gladstone Road, off Holton Road. It was inaugurated in November 1932, and obtained its name in remembrance of those locals who lost their lives in World War I.It regularly hosts arts events and concerts, including live music, dance, and pantomime, workshops, and community events. It also hosts a nightclub for teenagers on Friday evenings which is very popular with the youth of the town. The main auditorium of the hall has a capacity of 886 people, 1,300 including standing. Over the years, artists as diverse as PJ & Duncan and Len Rawle have performed at the hall.

Colcot is a northern district of Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, in the Dyfan ward of South Wales. Dyfan ward is situated in the north west of Barry and its most northern edge is on the green belt of the town. Port Road West runs through the ward and is the main route to Cardiff and Cardiff International Airport in Rhoose. Dyfan benefits from a sports centre and Buttrills recreation field and The Barry Hospital can be found on Colcot Road. It also contains the Colcot Primary School, the Colcot Arms pub, the St David's Methodist Church, Coastlands Family Church, a fish and chip shop/Chinese takeaway, Barry Arts Centre and Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery.

It is noted globally for its 1960s activity as a scrapyard (hence its colloquial name of Barry Scrapyard), where 297 withdrawn British Railways steam locomotives were sent, from which 213 were rescued for the developing railway preservation movement.

Barry Waterfront or Waterfront Barry, known locally as The Waterfront, is a retail park and neighbourhood of Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, built from redeveloped land from the old Barry Docks, to the southwest of the town centre and to the immediate west of Barry Dock Offices. It is accessed via the Gladstone Bridge from Broad Street, to the south of Barry Memorial Hall, and along the Ffordd-Y-Mileniwm road from the southeast, leading on from Cardiff Road approached via Palmerston.

Barry is a seaside resort, with attractions including several beaches and the resurrected Barry Island Pleasure Park. According to Office for National Statistics 2016 estimate data, the population of Barry was 54,673. Once a small village, Barry has absorbed its larger neighbouring villages of Cadoxton and Barry Island, and now, Sully. It grew significantly from the 1880s with the development of Barry Docks, which in 1913 was the largest coal port in the world.
