Newton Flotman, meaning new farm or settlement, is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, lies about 7 miles (11 km) south of Norwich on the A140 road between Tasburgh and Swainsthorpe. The River Tas flows through the village. The area of 4.87 km2 (1.88 sq mi) had 1,197 inhabitants in 497 households at the 2001 census, increasing to 1,489 at the 2011 census. For local government it lies in the district of South Norfolk.

Saxlingham Nethergate is a village and civil parish in Norfolk, England, about 9.5 miles (15 km) south of Norwich. The civil parish has an area of 3.3 square miles (8.5 km2) and the 2001 Census recorded a population of 676 in 276 households, the population increasing to 688 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of South Norfolk. The Church of England parish church of St. Mary is Decorated Gothic, with a chancel, nave and square west tower with a ring of eight bells. In 1867 the church was thoroughly restored, the nave enlarged, a vestry added and a stained glass window inserted in the tower: several of the other windows are stained glass. Saxlingham Nethergate Church of England Primary school is a mixed school for ages 4 - 11 with a capacity of 77 pupils and was rated GOOD in its 2018 Ofsted inspection

The A140 is an 'A-class' road in Norfolk and Suffolk, East Anglia, England partly following the route of the Roman Pye Road. It runs from the A14 near Needham Market to the A149 south of Cromer. It is of primary status for the entirety of its route. It is approximately 56 miles (90 km) in length.

Swainsthorpe is a village in the English County of Norfolk in England. It lies on the A140 road, approximately 5 miles south of Norwich, and just north of Newton Flotman. It covers an area of 3.38 km2 (1.31 sq mi) and had a population of 374 in 159 households at the 2001 census, the population reducing to 360 at the 2011 Census. The village had two Churches, St.Peter's and St. Mary's, the latter is now in ruins.The villages name means 'Sveinn's outlying farm/settlement'.

Swainsthorpe was a railway station in Swainsthorpe, England, around five miles south of Norwich. It was opened in 1850 when the Great Eastern Railway constructed the line between London and Norwich. It was the first station south of the terminus at Norwich Victoria. It was well served, in 1889 there were eight trains each way on weekdays. Journey time into Norwich was approximately nine minutes. Swainsthorpe closed in 1954 as the relatively small population of Swainsthorpe meant it was considered a surplus to requirements. Today trains run straight through from Norwich to Diss.

Tasburgh ( TAYZ-bər-ə) is a civil parish and a village in the south of Norfolk, England, located approximately 8 miles south of Norwich. It lies on the A140 road, north of Long Stratton and south of Newton Flotman. The River Tas flows nearby and Tasburgh Hall lies to the west of the village. The local church is dedicated to St. Mary the Virgin. The village is made up of Upper Tasburgh and Lower Tasburgh. The majority of Lower Tasburgh contains buildings from the early days of the village whilst Upper Tasburgh is made up of more modern housing. The villages name means 'Taesa's fortification' and could also be interpreted as 'pleasant/convenient fortification'. Children of primary school age attend Henry Preston Primary School, in Upper Tasburgh, whereas secondary school students attend Long Stratton High School. The village hall and adjacent social club is used for a range of functions and is home to Tasburgh's community run post office, set up following the closure of the post office store on Church Road in 2013.A public house, The Countryman, is located in the village, by the A140. This is opposite the site of a former Little Chef restaurant, which has since become a garden building show centre. The village is well served by public transport, with frequent bus services between Norwich and Long Stratton, operated by First Norfolk & Suffolk, Konectbus and Simonds of Botesdale calling in Tasburgh.

Shotesham Common is a 21.6-hectare (53-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Norwich in Norfolk.This site consists of traditionally managed meadows with a variety of grassland types, ranging from permanently wet marshes on the valley bottom, where a stream runs through, to drier grassland on the slopes. There are several uncommon species of flora.A public footpath goes through the common.

Flordon railway station served the village of Flordon, Norfolk. It was opened in 1849, when the line from London Liverpool Street to Norwich Victoria was constructed; the station was served by Eastern Union Railway stopping services between Norwich and Ipswich. It was closed in 1966, as a result of the Beeching Axe, along with other smaller stations between Norwich and Ipswich. The line through the former station site continues to operate today, hosting electric inter-city services between London Liverpool Street and Norwich.

Mulbarton Wanderers Football Club is a football club based in Mulbarton, Norfolk. They are currently members of the Eastern Counties League Premier Division.

Dunston Common is a 3.8-hectare (9.4-acre) Local Nature Reserve south of Norwich in Norfolk. It is owned and managed by South Norfolk District Council.Most of this site is grassland with flora including lady's bedstraw, harebell and sheep's sorrel. There is also an area of semi-mature woodland at the western end.There is access from Stoke Lane.

Morningthorpe (sometimes Morning Thorpe) is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Morningthorpe and Fritton in the South Norfolk district, in the county of Norfolk, England. It is situated some 20 kilometres (12 mi) south of the city of Norwich. The parish includes the villages of Morningthorpe and Fritton. The two villages are 1 km apart.[1]The village's name origin is uncertain perhaps, 'outlying farm/settlement of the pool dwellers', 'outlying farm/settlement of the boundary dwellers' or 'outlying farm/settlement of Maera's people'. The civil parish has an area of 7.74 square kilometres (2.99 sq mi) and in the 2001 census had a population of 253 in 94 households the population increasing to 267 at the 2011 Census.The churches of Morningthorpe St John the Baptist and Fritton St Catherine are two of 124 existing round-tower churches in Norfolk. The village was struck by an F1/T2 tornado on 23 November 1981, as part of the record-breaking nationwide tornado outbreak on that day.

Hempnall is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 14.82 km2 (5.72 sq mi) and had a population of 1,310 in 522 households at the 2001 census, the population reducing to 1,292 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of South Norfolk. Hempnall lies on the B1527 road, with neighbouring villages including Tasburgh and Saxlingham Nethergate. The village's name means 'Hemma's nook of land'. Facilities in Hempnall include a village hall, playing field, a primary school, and a doctor's surgery. The convenience store, formerly run by RS McColl, was rebranded Morrisons Local in 2023. 'The Hempnall Trust', a village charity, runs The Hempnall Mill Centre at the site of Hempnall Mill.
