Balgowlah Substation

Manly is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales, and covers a large portion of the Northern Beaches Council local government area. Created in 1927, although it has historically tended to be a Liberal-leaning seat, Manly has had a history of independent local members. It is represented by James Griffin for the Liberal Party, and was previously represented by the former Premier of New South Wales, Mike Baird. On 23 January 2017, Baird resigned as Premier and member for Manly, triggering a by-election in the district which was held on 8 April and won by Liberal candidate James Griffin.

The Murder of Megan Kalajzich took place in 1986 in Fairlight, New South Wales, Australia. Although he pleaded not guilty, Andrew Kalajzich, the victim’s husband, was found guilty of her murder in May 1988, and sentenced to 25 years in prison without parole. He was released from prison on 8 February 2012.

The area now known as Balgowlah was known to the Aboriginals as Jilling. Balgowlah is located 12 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Northern Beaches Council, in the Northern Beaches region. Balgowlah shares the postcode 2093 with the adjacent suburbs of Manly Vale, Balgowlah Heights and North Balgowlah.

Fairlight is a suburb of northern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Fairlight is located 13 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Northern Beaches Council and is part of the Northern Beaches region. Fairlight lies between Balgowlah and Manly on both sides of Sydney Road. The suburb reaches north past Balgowlah Road and the western boundary is Hill Street.

The Parish of Manly Cove is a civil parish of the County of Cumberland on the northern beaches of Sydney and covers numerous suburbs including Fairlight, Frenchs Forrest, Forestville, Kilarney Heights, Dee why, Davidson, Manly and Bookvale. The boundaries of the parish are the Pacific Ocean to the east, Middle Harbour Creek to the west, Sydney Harbour to the south and Narrabeen Lagoon on the north. Much of the parish is residential in a nature with large tracts of National Park.

Manly Vale is a suburb of northern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia 17 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district in the local government area of Northern Beaches Council, in the Northern Beaches region. Manly Vale is predominantly a residential suburb with commercial land use on Condamine Street, containing small patches of light industrial. It also contains multiple Retirement Villages and Aged Care facilities.

The Northern Beaches Secondary College (abbreviated as NBSC) is a multi-campus government-funded co-educational dual-modality partially selective and comprehensive secondary day school, located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The College was established 2003 through the merger and restructure of six existing campuses located in the northern beaches region. The College caters for approximately 4,800 students from Year 7 to Year 12. The school is operated by the New South Wales Department of Education; the principal is Dane Ropa, who leads the College.

The Mackellar Girls Campus of Northern Beaches Secondary College is a government-funded single-sex comprehensive secondary day school for girls only, located in Manly Vale, a suburb on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1968 as Manly Vale High School, and then became Mackellar Girls High School, named in honour of Dorothea Mackellar, the school caters for approximately 1,200 students from Year 7 and Year 12. The school is operated by the New South Wales Department of Education; the principal is Christine Del Gallo.

The Balgowlah Boys Campus of Northern Beaches Secondary College is a government-funded single-sex comprehensive secondary day school for boys only, located in Balgowlah, a suburb on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1954 as Balgowlah Boys High School, the campus enrolled approximately 900 students in 2018, from Year 7 to Year 12, of whom one percent identified as Indigenous Australians and 28 percent were from a language background other than English. The school is operated by the NSW Department of Education in accordance with a curriculum developed by the New South Wales Education Standards Authority; the principal is Paul Sheather.

Brighton College (also known as Brighton College for Girls) was a non-denominational day and boarding private girls' school in Manly, New South Wales, Australia. It operated from 1889 to 1960 in the suburb of Manly, Australia.

Manly Surf n Slide re-opened in December 2016 after spending over $150k to upgrade what was the former Manly Waterworks. The Manly Waterworks was a water park in Manly, New South Wales, Australia. It was operated jointly with the Mount Druitt Waterworks and Cairns Waterworks, surviving after the later two became defunct.Manly Surf n Slide features in the movie BMX Bandits starring Nicole Kidman during which an escape is staged in one of the waterslides.
