Tlalpan (Classical Nahuatl: Tlālpan, lit. 'place on the earth', Nahuatl pronunciation: [ˈtɬaːɬpan̥] ) is a borough (demarcación territorial) in Mexico City. It is the largest borough, with over eighty percent under conservation as forest and other ecologically sensitive area. The rest, almost all of it on the northern edge, has been urban since the mid-20th century. When it was created in 1928, it was named after the most important settlement of the area, Tlalpan, which is referred to as “Tlalpan center” (Tlalpan centro) to distinguish it from the borough. This center, despite being in the urbanized zone, still retains much of its provincial atmosphere with colonial era mansions and cobblestone streets. Much of the borough's importance stems from its forested conservation areas, as it functions to provide oxygen to the Valley of Mexico and serves for aquifer recharge. Seventy percent of Mexico City's water comes from wells in this borough. However, the area is under pressure as its mountainous isolated location has attracted illegal loggers, drug traffickers, and kidnappers; the most serious problem is illegal building of homes and communities on conservation land, mostly by very poor people. As of 2010, the government recognizes the existence of 191 of the settlements, which cause severe ecological damage with the disappearance of trees, advance of urban sprawl, and in some areas, the digging of septic pits. The borough is home to one of the oldest Mesoamerican sites in the valley, Cuicuilco, as well as several major parks and ecological reserves. It is also home to a number of semi-independent “pueblos” that have limited self-rule rights under a legal provision known as “usos y costumbres” (lit. uses and customs).

Liceo Mexicano Japonés, A.C. (Spanish for 'Mexican-Japanese Lyceum'); Japanese: 社団法人日本メキシコ学院, romanized: Shadan Hōjin Nihon Mekishiko Gakuin, or 日墨学院, transl. Japan-Mexico Institute) is a Japanese school based in the Pedregal neighborhood of the Álvaro Obregón borough in southern Mexico City, Mexico.It is a school for Japanese Mexicans and the sons of Japanese temporary workers who are often brought to Mexico by companies like Nissan. There is also a section for Mexicans with no Japanese origin or descent, but Japanese is taught beginning in kindergarten and the system is in both languages until high school.Carlos Kasuga Osaka, who served as the director of Yakult Mexico, founded the school and served as its chair. Within any Nikkei community, it was the first transnational educational institution.María Dolores Mónica Palma Mora, author of De tierras extrañas: un estudio sobre las inmigración en México, 1950–1990, wrote that the school is a "central institution in the life" of the Japanese Mexican group. Chizuko Hōgen Watanabe (千鶴子・ホーゲン・渡邊), the author of the master's thesis "The Japanese Immigrant Community in Mexico Its History and Present" at the California State University, Los Angeles, stated that Japanese parents chose the school because they wanted to "maintain their ethnic identity and pride, to implant a spiritual heritage that they claim is the basis for success, and to establish close ties with other Nikkei children who live in distant areas."As of 1983 many Nikkei and Japanese persons come to the school to study its management techniques and problems.

Sud 777 (sometimes stylized SUD777) is a restaurant in Jardines del Pedregal, Álvaro Obregón, Mexico City. It is owned by chef Edgar Núñez, who founded it in 2008. It has à la carte options and a twelve-course tasting menu. The restaurant serves French food prepared with Mexican ingredients, mainly the country's vegetables. Sud 777 has received positive reviews and was awarded one Michelin star in 2024 in the first Michelin Guide covering restaurants in Mexico. In 2023, Sud 777 was added to the British magazine Restaurant's publication The World's 50 Best Restaurants, as the list was expanded to include restaurants from positions 51 to 100.

Jardines del Pedregal (English: Rocky Gardens) or simply El Pedregal (full name: El Pedregal de San Angel) is an upscale residential colonia (neighborhood) in southern Mexico City hosting some of the richest families of Mexico. It is also known as the home to the biggest mansion in the city. Its borders are San Jerónimo Avenue and Ciudad Universitaria to the north, Insurgentes Avenue to the east and Periférico to the south and west. Its 510 hectares (1,250 acres) were a major real estate project undertaken by Mexican modernist architect Luis Barragán. When it was originally developed, in the mid-1940s in the lava fields of the Pedregal de San Ángel, it was probably the biggest urban development the city had seen. The first house to be built here was the studio and home of architect Max Cetto. The area has changed significantly since its original development. Although its modernist spirit and original elements of ecosystem protection are gone, critics have described its original houses and gardens as a turning point in Mexican architecture. Some of the old modernist houses have been catalogued as part of Mexico's national patrimony.

The 29th federal electoral district of the Federal District (Distrito electoral federal 29 del Distrito Federal) is a defunct federal electoral district of Mexico. Occupying a portion of what is today Mexico City, it was in existence from 1979 to 2005. During that time, it returned one deputy to the Chamber of Deputies for each three-year legislative session by means of the first-past-the-post system, electing its first in the 1979 mid-term election and its last in the 2003 mid-terms. Votes cast in the district also counted towards the calculation of proportional representation ("plurinominal") deputies elected from the country's electoral regions. The 28th, 29th and 30th districts were abolished in the Federal Electoral Institute's 2005 redistricting process because the capital's population no longer warranted that number of seats in Congress. They were not contested in the 2006 general election.

The National Pedagogic University (Spanish: Universidad Pedagógica Nacional - UPN) is Mexico's national university for teacher training. The main campus, directly adjacent to the Colegio de México in Mexico City, hosts more than 5,000 students and is the largest of more than 70 UPN campuses nationwide. The university offers both undergraduate (licenciatura) and graduate programs of study. UPN is in the process of being separated from the Secretaría de Educación Pública and becoming autonomous.

El Colegio de México, A.C. (commonly known as Colmex, English: The College of Mexico) is a Mexican institute of higher education, specializing in teaching and research in social sciences and humanities. The college was founded in 1940 by the Mexican Federal Government, the Bank of Mexico (Banco de México), the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and the Fondo de Cultura Económica. In the late 1930s, following the end of the Spanish Civil War, Mexican president Lázaro Cardenas created the House of Spain in Mexico (1938–1940) to host Spanish intellectuals in exile in Mexico; Mexico was the only country that in 1939 welcomed Spanish refugees. Under the direction of intellectual Alfonso Reyes, the House of Spain became a higher education center, and was renamed El Colegio de México in 1940. The College now operates under a 1961 charter that allows the institution to provide college-level teaching in the fields of humanistic knowledge and social and political sciences. In 1976, the university's campus was moved from the Colonia Roma (a historic neighborhood just west of the city's center) to its current location in the southern portion of the capital; the main building of the campus was designed by the Mexican architect Teodoro González de León. The college contains seven separate academic centers collectively offering three undergraduate degrees, seven master's degrees and eight doctoral degrees. El Colegio de México received the Prince of Asturias Award for Social Sciences in 2001. Colmex's library (Biblioteca Daniel Cosío Villegas), one of the largest academic libraries in Mexico, contains one of the most important Latin American collections in the fields of the social sciences and humanities.

The Centro Nacional de Inteligencia or CNI, is a Mexican intelligence agency controlled by the Secretariat of Security and Civilian Protection. The CNI replaced the Centro de Investigación y Seguridad Nacional (CISEN) in December 2018 at the start of the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. The CNI is the primary civilian intelligence service in Mexico. Formally, the agency is charged with intelligence operations as they pertain to national security, which contribute to the preservation of the Mexican State's integrity, stability, and permanence.

San Jerónimo Lídice, or San Jerónimo Aculco, is a former village now part of Mexico City in the Magdalena Contreras borough in the southwest of the city. A settlement on this spot, Aculco, dates back to Toltec times; its name means "where the water turns". The village specialized in fruit and vegetable production. When a dam in the area was built in 1934, Toltec remains were found, including the slope of a pyramid.The church of San Jerónimo Aculco dates from the 16th century, when it was founded by Franciscans. An open chapel remains. The church was modified in the 18th century. It celebrates its patron saint's day on September 30.In 1943, part of the village changed its name in commemoration of the massacre at Lidice in what is now the Czech Republic. Each year on June 10, the Lidice massacre is commemorated in the square in front of San Jerónimo Church.

Green Hills School (Spanish: Colegio Green Hills, S.C.) is a private school in the Mexico City metropolitan area. Founded in 1962, the school serves levels preschool through preparatoria (high school). The South Campus is in Col. San Jerónimo Lídice in Magdalena Contreras, Mexico City while the north campus is in Atizapán, State of Mexico.

La Magdalena Contreras (Spanish pronunciation: [maɣðaˈlena konˈtɾeɾas] ) is a borough (demarcación territorial) in the Mexico City. As of the 2010 census, it has a population of 239,086 inhabitants and is the third-least populous of Mexico City's boroughs. It lies at an elevation of 2,365 m (7,759 ft) above sea level. It is named after two historically important communities—La Magdalena Atlitic and Colonia Contreras. The northern end of the borough is urbanized. The rest of Magdalena Contreras, with its mountains and ravines, is designated as a conservation zone. However, urban sprawl has put pressure on these conservation areas. In an effort to preserve the area's forests and natural resources, the borough government has started promoting ecotourism.
