Kesteren

Lede en Oudewaard is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Neder-Betuwe, and lies about 8 km west of Wageningen. Lede en Oudewaard was a separate municipality between 1818 and 1822, at which time it was merged with Kesteren.Lede was first mentioned probably in 1235 as ter Lee, and means "dug stream". Oudewaard was first mentioned in 1326 as "de Weert te Kester", and means the old land near water. The postal authorities have placed the hamlet under Kesteren. Until 1800, it was an heerlijkheid. In 1840, it was home to 147 people.

Kesteren is a railway station located in Kesteren, Netherlands. The station opened on 1 November 1882 and is on the Elst–Dordrecht railway. Train services are operated by Arriva. Between 1945 and 1981, this station was called Kesteren- Rhenen.The station was the terminus of the line from Amersfoort, which allowed a faster journey time to Nijmegen from Amsterdam. The line still exists between Amersfoort and Leusden, Near Overberg to Rhenen and Kesteren station itself. The section between Amersfoort and Leusden is still in use and is known as the Ponlijn and the section between Rhenen and Kesteren is still in uses as the Veenendaallijn.

The Cunerakerk is the main church of Rhenen, Netherlands. During the Middle Ages it was an important pilgrimage site. The church has stored the relics of the Saint Cunera since the 8th century. The tower has a height of 81.8 metres (268 ft).

Ochten is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Neder-Betuwe, and lies about 10 km southwest of Wageningen. Ochten was a separate municipality until 1818, when it was divided into two parts, Echteld and IJzendoorn.

Aalst is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Buren, and lies about 10 km southwest of Wageningen. Between 1811 and 1998, Aalst belonged to the municipality of Lienden. In the middle of the 19th century, the population of Aalst was 150; there was a nice mansion called "Kolvenschoten" located here.It was first mentioned around 1400 as Aelst. The etymology is unclear. The postal authorities have placed it under Lienden. In 1840, it was home to 205 people.

Rhenen is a railway station located in Rhenen, Netherlands. The station was opened on 18 February 1886 and is located on the Kesteren–Amersfoort railway (Maarn - Rhenen). The services are currently operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The station closed on 17 September 1944 and reopened on 31 May 1981. There is a single terminating platform.

Ouwehands Dierenpark is a zoo in Rhenen, in the Dutch province of Utrecht. The zoo is located on the Laarschenberg, a "mountain" that makes up the south-eastern tip of the great Utrecht Hill Ridge.

Rhenen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈreːnə(n)] (listen)) is a municipality and a city in the central Netherlands. The municipality also includes the villages of Achterberg, Remmerden, Elst and Laareind. The town lies at a geographically interesting location, namely on the southernmost part of the chain of hills known as the Utrecht Hill Ridge (Utrechtse Heuvelrug), where this meets the river Rhine. Because of this Rhenen has a unique character with quite some elevation through town. Directly to the east of the built-up area lies the Grebbeberg, a hill with a top elevation of about 50 metres (160 ft).

De Mars is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is a part of the municipality of Buren, and lies about 8 km south of Veenendaal. The area belonging to De Mars was originally located north of the Rhine river. However, the river bed now runs along a new route north of De Mars. It was first mentioned in 1250 as in Marsche, and means "in the marsh". In 1840, it was home to 219 people. The postal authorities have placed it under Lienden.

The Grebbeberg is a 52-meter high hill located east of Rhenen, Netherlands in the province of Utrecht. It forms the southeastern tip of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, a moraine. Due to its strategic location with a view of the Lower Rhine and the Betuwe, this hill was historically of great importance. The Grebbe Line was constructed from here in the 18th century. The hill is best known for the Battle of the Grebbeberg in May 1940. On the Grebbeberg is the Grebbeberg War Cemetery where Dutch soldiers are buried.

The Battle of the Grebbeberg (Dutch: Slag om de Grebbeberg) was a major engagement during the Battle of the Netherlands, which was a part of the World War II Operation Fall Gelb in 1940.

Grebbeberg War Cemetery (Dutch: Militair Ereveld Grebbeberg) is a Second World War military war grave cemetery, located on the Grebbeberg, a hill 2 km (1.2 mi) east of Rhenen the Netherlands. The cemetery contains 799 military personnel and one civilian who died during the invasion of the Netherlands by the Germans in May 1940. More than 400 of those interred in the cemetery fell during the Battle of the Grebbeberg.
