St. Cloud Commercial Historic District

St. Cloud Times is an American, English language daily newspaper headquartered in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The Times is owned by mass media holding company Gannett and is part of the USA Today network of newspapers. The print version of the paper is printed by ECM Publishers in Princeton, Minnesota.

The Cathedral of St. Mary located in St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States, is the cathedral and parish church in the Catholic Diocese of St. Cloud. The St. Cloud Diocese serves Central Minnesota and a Catholic population of about 150,000.

The Stearns County Courthouse is the seat of government for Stearns County in St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States. The Beaux-Arts style building was constructed in 1921 to replace Stearns County's original 1864 courthouse. It stands in a prominent square in downtown St. Cloud, flanked by other government buildings. A Prairie School style jail was built to the northeast in 1922, and the two buildings were listed as the Stearns County Courthouse and Jail on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 for having local significance in the themes of architecture and politics/government. They were nominated for being prominent symbols of Stearns County government. The 1922 jail building was demolished in 1987.

The 1998 St. Cloud explosion was a gas explosion that occurred in St. Cloud, Minnesota on December 11, 1998. A work crew installing a utility pole support anchor punctured an underground natural gas pipeline, causing the explosion. The blast killed four people, injured 11, destroyed six buildings, and caused an estimated $399,000 in damages. An NTSB report on the incident faulted the safety and emergency practices of Cable Constructors, Inc., whose employees punctured the gas line, and the procedures and training of the St. Cloud fire department for responding to gas leaks.

The Carter Block is a historic mixed-use commercial building in St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States. It was established in 1902 by businessman Wesley Carter to provide retail, office, warehousing, and meeting space in the developing city. The Carter Block was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986 for its local significance in the themes of commerce and social history. It was nominated for encapsulating the social impact of Carter's entrepreneurship.

The First National Bank of St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States, is a historic bank building constructed in 1889 and doubled in size around 1918. It was designed by architect Charles Sumner Sedgwick for St. Cloud's first bank, which was established in 1867 and chartered as a national bank in 1882. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 for its local significance in the themes of architecture and commerce. It was nominated for being St. Cloud's "finest designed and best preserved commercial building"—in the words of historian Thomas Harvey—and for its important financial role in the development of St. Cloud and surrounding Stearns County.The building was constructed of red brick with granite trim and cast iron ornamentation. It housed several prominent businesses after First National Bank left in 1925. As of 2018 its tenants include a branch of Kensington Bank and a restaurant.

Cathedral High School is a Roman Catholic coeducational parochial high school located in St. Cloud, Minnesota. One of the four high schools in the St. Cloud area, as of September 2022, Cathedral High School enrolls approximately 750 students grades 6-12. Cathedral High School employs 53 faculty members, 100% of which hold bachelor's degrees. The faculty to student ratio is 1:14. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saint Cloud.

The Fifth Avenue Commercial Buildings comprise a row of six buildings in St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States, constructed between 1883 and 1914. The buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 for their local significance in the themes of architecture and commerce. As St. Cloud's best preserved commercial block from the turn of the 20th century, it was nominated for reflecting the commercial architecture and history of the city's downtown business district.

The Michael Majerus House is a historic house in St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1891. The Michael Majerus House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 for its local significance in the theme of architecture. It was nominated for its status as St. Cloud's finest house in Second Empire style.

Veterans Bridge is a steel girder bridge that spans the Mississippi River in St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1971 and was designed by Howard, Needles, Tammen & Bergendoff. There have been three previous bridges at this location. The first was built in 1867 by the St. Cloud Bridge Company and was a wooden toll bridge. The city bought the bridge in 1887 and rebuilt it with iron and wood. In 1894, the wooden bridge was replaced with a deck truss bridge, which survived until the new bridge was built in 1971.

Great River Regional Library is a library system serving Benton, Morrison, Sherburne, Stearns, Todd and Wright Counties in central Minnesota. It is a consolidated library system consisting of 32 branch libraries, with a headquarters at the St. Cloud Public Library.

The John N. Bensen House is a historic house in St. Cloud, Minnesota, United States. It was built in 1904 for John N. Bensen (1850–1917), a German immigrant who settled in St. Cloud in 1872, found success in the grocery business, and went on to serve as mayor and bank president. The Bensen House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 for its local significance in the themes of architecture and commerce. It was nominated for being one of St. Cloud's finest examples of Queen Anne architecture and for its association with Bensen.The house now operates as the Heritage House Bed & Breakfast.
