Angaston Power Station

Angas was an electoral district of the House of Assembly in the Australian state of South Australia from 1938 to 1970 and which was associated with the town of Angaston.

Penrice is a small town in the Barossa Valley of South Australia, just north of Angaston. Penrice is the site of a large limestone and marble quarry which was operated by Penrice Soda Products until that company failed. The quarry was bought by Adelaide Brighton Cement as a going concern in July 2014. Penrice quarry Penrice Stone Train was the last customer of the Barossa Valley railway line, but the railway has not been used since Adelaide Brighton bought the quarry. Penrice was named by Captain Richard Rodda most likely after Penrice, an estate near St Austell, Cornwall. Some sources suggest the village was named after a town in Glamorganshire, WalesPenrice is in the Barossa Council local government area, the state electoral district of Schubert and the federal Division of Barker.

Vine Vale is a locality in the Barossa Valley region of South Australia. The Rocky Valley Congregational Church was built from wattle and daub at Vine Vale around 1865 and replaced by a stone building in 1894. It closed in 1952. The locality still has an active tennis club.

Barossa Council is a local government area in the Barossa Valley in South Australia. The council area covers 912 square kilometres, and had a population of over 23,000 in the 2016 Census.

Angaston is a town on the eastern side of the Barossa Valley in South Australia, 77 km northeast of Adelaide. Its elevation is 347 m, one of the highest points in the valley, and has an average rainfall of 561 mm. Angaston was originally known as German Pass, but was later renamed after the politician, banker and pastoralist George Fife Angas, who settled in the area in the 1850s. Angaston is in the Barossa Council local government area, the state electoral district of Schubert and the federal Division of Barker.

The Division of Angas was an Australian Electoral Division in South Australia. The division was created in 1903 and abolished in 1934. It was named for George Fife Angas, a South Australian pioneer, and was based in various rural areas to the east, south-east, north-east and north-west of Adelaide at different times including Angaston, Cadell, Eudunda, Gawler, Kapunda, Nuriootpa, Mallala, Murray Bridge, Tanunda and Walker Flat and from 1922 stretched further eastward as far as the South Australian border. It was a generally marginal seat which was won at various times by the Australian Labor Party and the Nationalist Party (and their predecessors).

Light Pass is a settlement in the Barossa Valley region of South Australia. It was named by Charles Flaxman in honour of William Light. Light Pass is the site of two Lutheran churches and a public primary school. Light Pass was previously served by the Light Pass railway station on the Barossa Valley railway line, previously known as the Minkie station, derived from an Aboriginal word for daylight. The station was near the intersection of Penrice and Light Pass Roads, slightly south of the town.

Yalumba is an Australian winery located near the town of Angaston, South Australia in the Barossa Valley wine region. It was founded by a British brewer, Samuel Smith, who emigrated to Australia with his family from Wareham, Dorset in August 1847 aboard the ship China. Upon arriving in Adelaide in December, Smith built a small house on the banks of the River Torrens. He lived there less than a year before moving north to Angaston where he purchased a 30-acre (120,000 m2) block of land on the settlement's south eastern boundary. He named his property "Yalumba" after an indigenous Australian word for "all the land around". In 1849 Smith and his son Sidney planted Yalumba's first vineyards, beginning the Yalumba dynasty. Today Yalumba is Australia's oldest family-owned winery.

Mengler Hill (formerly Mengler's Hill) is a hill and popular lookout in the Barossa Range, South Australia. The hill was named after an early wine grower in the area. The Barossa Sculpture Park is sited at the base of the lookout area. The road route from Tanunda to Angaston crosses Mengler Hill.

Faith Lutheran College is a co-educational independent secondary school of the Lutheran Church of Australia located on 25 hectares (62 acres) of land on the northeastern side of Tanunda in South Australia.

Nuriootpa ( NURE-ee-UUT-pə) is a town in South Australia and the major commercial centre of the Barossa Valley, about an hour's drive north of the state capital, Adelaide. The name of the town is reputed to be the local Aboriginal word for "meeting place". Nuriootpa is situated at the north end of the Barossa Valley, near the Sturt Highway. It has a population of over 6,500 people, making it the largest town in the area. There are vineyards surrounding the town. It is home to wineries including Penfolds, Elderton Wines and Wolf Blass.
