Schloss Elmau

The 41st G7 summit was held in Schloss Elmau, Krün, Bavaria and Germany on 7–8 June 2015. In March 2014 the remaining members of the G8 declared that a meaningful discussion was currently not possible with Russia, and since then meetings have continued under the G7 name (not to be confused with the G7 meetings of finance ministers and central bank governors).

The Wettersteinwald ("Wetterstein Forest") is a nature reserve in the eastern part of the Wetterstein Mountains in Bavaria with an area of 42.6 hectares. It lies in the province of Upper Bavaria and covers a forested area owned by the state. It belongs to the first reserves designated in 1978 under the Forest Act for Bavaria (BayWaldG), Article 12a (Waldgesetz für Bayern (BayWaldG), Artikel 12a). The area is dominated by Swiss Pine, Mountain Pine and Spruce and it is also home to several species of beetle that were thought to have become extinct or lost; the so-called ancient forest relict species (Urwaldreliktarten).

The Hoher Kranzberg is a mountain in Bavaria, Germany. Compared to its neighbours in the Wetterstein Mountains and the Karwendel Mountains, the Hoher Kranzberg is more of a gentle grass hill.

The Ester Mountains (German: Estergebirge) are a small mountain range in Bavaria. They are classified either as part of Bavarian Prealps or the larger chain of Northern Limestone Alps. The range stretches for about 15 kilometres. From the west it is bordered by the valley of the river Loisach and from the east by Walchensee lake and the valley of the river Isar. With its highest peak being Krottenkopf (2,086 m), the highest part of the range just exceeds 2,000 m. The range is of composed of limestone. The treeline is around 1,700 m.

Scharnitz Abbey (German: Kloster Scharnitz) was a Benedictine monastery in Mittenwald in Bavaria, Germany. The monastery, dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, was founded before 763 by Reginperht and Irminfried, believed to be members of the Bavarian noble family of the Huosi. Arbeo of Freising, a member of the same family, was its first abbot, until he was appointed Bishop of Freising in 764. Between 769 and 772, on his advice, the community was resettled to Schlehdorf Abbey on the Kochelsee, under abbot Atto, who is counted as the first abbot of Schlehdorf. The reasons for the move so soon after the foundation are not known.

Klais station is a railway station in the Klais district of the municipality of Krün, located in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district in Bavaria, Germany.

The Wank (German pronunciation: [ˈvaŋk]) is a mountain in southern Germany, situated in the Loisach valley close to the Austrian border in the southwestern Ester Mountains range near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It rises from about 700 metres (2,300 ft) above mean sea level up to 1,780 metres (5,840 ft) at the summit. The mountain is crowned by a grassy summit which has views over Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the surrounding region. The summit can be reached via the eponymous Wankbahn, a cable car system that runs during the summer months, or by a network of footpaths that criss-cross the area. A mountain hut on the summit, the Wank-Haus, provides food and accommodation, and a nearby scientific observatory plays a role in monitoring atmospheric and climatic conditions. The Wank is a destination for hikers, day-trippers from Garmisch-Partenkirchen and paragliders.

The Partnach Gorge (German: Partnachklamm) is a deep gorge that has been incised by a mountain stream, the Partnach, in the Reintal valley near the south German town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The gorge is 702 metres (2,303 ft) long and, in places, over 80 metres (260 ft) deep. It was designated a natural monument in 1912.

Gudiberg is a mountain of Bavaria, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. It lies south of the centre of Partenkirchen and east of the Partnach river.
