Bedum is a railway station located in Bedum, Netherlands. The station was opened on 15 June 1884 and is located on the Groningen–Delfzijl railway. The services are currently operated by Arriva.

Stitswerd is a village in the municipality of Het Hogeland, Groningen, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 45 in January 2017. Stitswerd is located on a wierde near the estuary of the former river Fivel. Stitswerd has the highest postal code in the Netherlands (9999 XL).

Bethlehem is a hamlet just west of the village of Rottum, in the Dutch province of Groningen. Since 2019, it is part of the municipality of Het Hogeland.Bethlehem is built at the location of a Benedictine nunnery. Together with the St. Juliana's Abbey a small distance to the north, the nunnery was mentioned in 1291 as the Conventus St. Juliane in Rotthem. The church of the abbey was broken down in 1658, and nothing of the abbey remains nowadays.

The Winsum train disaster took place on 25 July 1980 near Winsum in the Dutch province of Groningen. 9 people died and 21 were injured.The accident took place on a single track between Sauwerd and Roodeschool that did not have ATB or signals, instead the drivers were informed by radio where other trains on the tracks were, which was a less reliable system that relied on trust. In the foggy early morning of 25 July 1980 the driver of commuter train 8726 departed from Winsum railway station. Because of the fog he could not see the other train (8713) coming from Sauwerd, which the traffic controllers had warned him about and they told him to wait departing from Winsum until it had passed. Both trains collided head on.The true cause of the disaster never became clear.

Kantens is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Het Hogeland, about 16 km north of the city of Groningen. It had a population of around 965 including the surrounding area in January 2017.Kantens was a separate municipality until 1990, when it became a part of Hefshuizen.

Rottum (or Röppen) is a small village on an artificial dwelling hill between Kantens and Usquert in the municipality of Het Hogeland, falling under the province Groningen in the Netherlands. It had a population of around 85 in January 2017.

Groot Wetsinge (English: Big Wetsinge) and Klein Wetsinge (English: Small Wetsinge) are two villages in the municipality of Het Hogeland in the Dutch province of Groningen. The villages are less than half a kilometre apart and are often referred to together as Wetsinge. The closest village, at a distance of less than a kilometre to Wetsinge is Sauwerd. The name Groot Wetsinge is a rather confusing name, because there are fewer houses in Groot Wetsinge than in Klein Wetsinge. In this context, Groot means high. This is because of the wierde on which the village lies. Klein Wetsinge is not situated on a wierde. The first occupation of the mound of Groot Wetsinge dates from the 3rd century BC. Several discoveries have been made in the wierde, including an earthen lamp from the first century BC. The wierde is part of a cluster of wierdes along the eastern bank of the Hunze. Wetsinge was part of the area controlled by the family Onsta, which also built the Onstaborg to the northeast of Wetsinge.
