Middelstum (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈmɪdəlstʏm]; Gronings: Middelsom [ˈmɪdl̩sɔm]) is a village with a population of 2,419 in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Eemsdelta. Middelstum was a separate municipality until 1990, when it was merged with Loppersum.

Rottum (or Röppen) is a small village on an artificial dwelling hill between Kantens and Usquert in the municipality of Het Hogeland, falling under the province Groningen in the Netherlands. It had a population of around 85 in January 2017.

Bethlehem is a hamlet just west of the village of Rottum, in the Dutch province of Groningen. Since 2019, it is part of the municipality of Het Hogeland.Bethlehem is built at the location of a Benedictine nunnery. Together with the St. Juliana's Abbey a small distance to the north, the nunnery was mentioned in 1291 as the Conventus St. Juliane in Rotthem. The church of the abbey was broken down in 1658, and nothing of the abbey remains nowadays.

Huizinge (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦœyzɪŋə]; Gronings: Hoezen [ˈɦuːzn̩]) is a village with a population of 100 in the municipality of Eemsdelta in the province of Groningen in the northeast of the Netherlands. On 16 August 2012, the heaviest induced earthquake in the Netherlands with a magnitude of 3.6 occurred with its epicentre in Huizinge.

Usquert is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Het Hogeland. It had a population of around 1,415 in January 2017.

The Kardingermaar is a maar (waterway) in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. It is, for the most part, the border between the municipalities of Bedum and Ten Boer.

Usquert is a railway station located in Usquert, Netherlands. The station was opened on 16 August 1893 and is located on the Sauwerd–Roodeschool railway. The train services are operated by Arriva.

Doodstil is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is a part of the municipality of Het Hogeland. The hamlet is known for its name which seemingly translates to "dead silent". Doodstil is located along the Boterdiep. In 2005, it won the election for beautiful place name of the Netherlands.

Eemsmond (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈeːmsmɔnt] ; English: Ems Mouth) is a former municipality with a population of 15,864 in the north of the province of Groningen in the northeast of the Netherlands. On 1 January 2019 it merged with the municipalities of Bedum, De Marne and Winsum to form the new municipality Het Hogeland.

The Jacobikerk organ in Uithuizen in the Dutch province of Groningen was built in 1701 by Arp Schnitger. It has 28 stops which are distributed on two manuals and pedal. The instrument is one of the best preserved Schnitger organs. The organ has been used as a template for newly built organs in the 20th century and for the reconstruction of lost stops of other Schnitger organs.

Boterdiep (Gronings: Botterdaip; translation: Butter Deep) is a canal in the Province of Groningen in the Netherlands. It was intended for the inland navigation. The name relates to the dairy products transported through the canal. It used to have its source in the centre of Groningen, but it has been rerouted to the Van Starkenborghkanaal.
