Senec (Hungarian: Szenc, German: Wartberg) is a town in the Bratislava Region of south-western Slovakia. The town is the administrative seat of the Senec District and its largest municipality. In 2022 it had a population of over 20,000.The town is a summer tourism and recreation center well known for its summer resort Sunny Lakes (Slovak: Slnečné jazerá) and its proximity to Bratislava, the capital and largest city of Slovakia.

Senec District

Senec District (okres Senec) is a district in the Bratislava Region of western Slovakia. It had been established in 1996. The district is largely a bedroom community for Bratislava and is also known for its recreational possibilities, foremost the area of Slnečné jazerá (Sunny Lakes). The administrative seat is its largest town, Senec. The whole district contains 34 623 free-standing houses.

Church of Saint Nicholaus, Senec

The Church of Saint Nicholaus in Senec, Slovakia is located in the southwestern part of the town, which is the oldest historical building of it. The church attained its current look in the middle of the 18th century. Before that the church had been rebuilt several times. Its basic style is Gothic. There is some evidence that a wooden church stood in its place in 1308. The structure has been reconstructed several times since. In 1633 it was in the Renaissance style, in 1740 the Baroque style. The last renovations were made in the 19th and 20th century. There are four altars in the church constructed in the rococo style.
