Königsbrunn

The Mercateum is the world's biggest globe based on a historical map. It is located in the centre of Königsbrunn in the district of Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany. The globe is intended as a memorial to trade relations between the Bavarian regions of Swabia and Franconia and India. The name Mercateum is derived from the Latin word mercator, meaning 'trader', 'merchant', but also refers to the important cartographer Gerhard Mercator. Originally part of a temporary exhibition in Munich commemorating the 500th anniversary of trade relations with India (1505-2005), it was later moved to its permanent location in Königsbrunn, where it was officially opened to the public on March 30, 2008. Inside the globe there is a museum with an exhibition about the beginnings and the bloom of long distance trade between India and the western world in the 16th century.

Brunnenbach is a river of Bavaria, Germany. In earlier centuries, from at least 1412, the Brunnenbach supplied the city of Augsburg with drinking water. It originates in several springs in the Lech meadows south of the city. In the post-glacial period, great groundwater streams pushed the alluvial gravels of the Lechfeld northwards, feeding springs in many places from which streams flowed northwards. These headstreams were traditionally called Gießer by the locals. One stream formed from the waters of several of these springs, whose water was clean enough for supplying the growing city, was called the Brunnenbach ("Spring Stream"). The stream was diverted into the city and fed many public wells and private water systems in Augsburg via a water works and water towers. Today, drinking water is no longer extracted from the Brunnenbach. It flows, as before, through the Augsburg Municipal Forest, but now empties into the Lech Canal in front of the Red Gate (Rotes Tor). This then crosses the quarter Lechviertel and merges with the other Lech canals in the north of the city, before discharging into the Lech.

Augsburg-Haunstetten, also known as Haunstetten-Siebenbrunn is one of the seventeen Planungsräume (English: Planning district, singular: Planungsraum) of Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany. It is the largest of the seventeen Planungsräume with an area of 32.59 km² (12.58 mi²). It is one of the most heavily populated subdivisions of Augsburg, with over 25,000 inhabitants. The town of Siebenbrunn was its own entity until 1910 when it was annexed to Augsburg, and Haunstetten was its own city from 1952 until 1972, when Bavaria underwent extensive reform of its political subdivisions and Haunstetten was also annexed to Augsburg. The population stood at 26,291 as of December 31, 2010.

Augsburg-Universitätsviertel (English: University Quarter) is one of the 17 Planungsräume (English: Planning district, singular Planungsraum) of Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany. It consists of one Stadtbezirk, (English: Ward) out of the 41 that make up the city, the 32nd, with which its planning district is coterminous. The Universitätsviertel houses the main campus of the University of Augsburg, which was founded in 1970. The planning district also houses the old Augsburg Airport as well as the Volkssiedlung, (English: Public settlement or People's settlement) a public housing development. The district, with many university students, has a lower percentage of foreign-born residents than other areas of Augsburg, with only 13.1% compared to the citywide average of 16.7%. The Universitätsviertel has an area of 3.96 km2 (1.53 mi2), and as of January 1, 2007, a population of 10,824. It is bordered on the south by Inningen, the south and east by Haunstetten, on the north by Hochfeld, and on the west by Göggingen.

Inningen station (German: Bahnhof Inningen) is a train station in the Augsburg district Inningen, located in Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. It is served by DB Regio Bayern and Bayerische Regiobahn. AVV Bus service is available at the nearby Inningen Ost bus stop. In the 1960s, the station, now mainly used by commuters on local services, was converted into a stop with an alternate siding, the loading track of which was used until the 1990s for loading agricultural products such as sugar beets and for fuel. Today, the station consists of an unoccupied reception building and two outside platforms accessible via a pedestrian underpass.

Augsburg Arena, currently known commercially as the WWK Arena (German pronunciation: [ˌveːveːˈkaː ʔaˌʁeːnaː]; officially stylised as WWK ARENA), is a football stadium in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany. It is used mostly for football matches and hosts the home matches of FC Augsburg. The stadium has a capacity of 30,660 with 19,060 seats and standing room for 11,034. A second phase of construction could expand capacity to 49,000 in the future. It replaced the club's previous home stadium, Rosenaustadion. FC Augsburg played their first match in the new stadium in 2009 During the time of designing and constructing the stadium, it was called "Augsburg Arena" [ˈaʊksbʊʁk ʔaˌʁeːna]. It was opened as "Impuls Arena" ([ɪmˈpʊls ʔaˌʁeːna], officially stylised as impuls arena), and was renamed "SGL Arena" ([ˌɛsɡeːˈʔɛl ʔaˌʁeːna], officially stylised as SGL arena) after SGL Carbon acquired the naming rights for the structure in May 2011. The contract had a term of seven years and began on 1 July 2011. On 1 July 2015 the stadium naming rights were acquired by WWK, an insurance company, changing the official name of the stadium to "WWK ARENA".Augsburg was one of the official host cities of the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup and the subsequent 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. The Impuls arena was the location of several matches during the group stage and the quarterfinals. During the FIFA-competitions it was renamed "FIFA Women's World Cup Stadium Augsburg". The stadium has hosted one Germany national team game and was nicknamed the "Anfield of the B17 highway" following FCA's 2016 Europa League Last 32 First Leg clash with Liverpool. WWK Arena is the first climate-neutral football stadium in the world. The carbon neutrality was achieved by six ecological heat pumps (40 m deep), which produce the desired temperature via heat exchangers. A bio natural gas boiler also supplies the necessary energy during peak load times at a game. In 2017, a new stadium facade will be made for the WWK Arena.

Inningen is one of the 17 Planungsräume (English: Planning District) of Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany. It consists solely of the 41st Stadtbezirk (English: Ward or City Ward), with which it shares a name and is coterminous. As of January 1, 2006, Inningen was reported to have a population 4,735, and an area of 13.42 km2 (5.18 km2). Its population density is 352.8 persons per square kilometer (918.1 persons per square mile). It was previously its own municipality before being annexed to Augsburg in 1972.
