Fonda is a village in and the county seat of Montgomery County, New York, United States. The population was 668 at the 2020 census. The village is named after Douw Fonda, a Dutch-American settler who was killed and scalped in 1780, during a Mohawk raid in the Revolutionary War, when the tribe was allied with the British. The Village of Fonda is in the Town of Mohawk and is west of Amsterdam. In 1993, the Mohawk people bought land here to re-establish the Kanatsiohareke community formerly at this site. The Fonda Fair is an annual agricultural event that takes place in August.

Fultonville Cemetery, also known as the Old Village Cemetery or the Protestant Dutch Church Burying Ground, is a cemetery in Fultonville, New York. The cemetery was originally the burying ground for the Protestant Dutch Church of Fultonville, but was transferred to the village in 1848. Many influential people in Fultonville's history are buried there. John H. Starin and Thomas R. Horton, United States House of Representatives|U.S. Representatives from New York, are interred there.

Fonda Speedway is a half-mile (0.8 km) dirt oval track located in Fonda, New York. The track hosted NASCAR Cup Series races in 1955 and 1966 to 1968. It is home to the Fonda 200. The track hosts Saturday night races with Modified, Sportsman, Limited Sportsman, Pro Stock, and 4 Cylinder classes (as of 2021).

Fultonville is a village in Montgomery County, New York, United States. The village is named after Robert Fulton, inventor of the steamboat.The Village of Fultonville is on the south bank of the Mohawk River in the Town of Glen. It is west of Amsterdam. In 2019, the area of the village that had been developed in the 19th and early 20th centuries was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Fultonville Historic District in recognition of its well-preserved architecture from its original settlement, the era centering around the development of the Erie Canal, and afterwards.

Caughnawaga Indian Village Site (also known as the Veeder site) is an archaeological site located just west of Fonda in Montgomery County, New York. It is the location of a 17th-century Mohawk nation village. One of the original Five Nations of the Iroquois League, or Haudenosaunee, the Mohawk lived west of Albany and occupied much of the Mohawk Valley. Other Iroquois nations were located west of them and south of the Great Lakes. The Mohawk had trading relationships with French colonists coming south from Quebec, with Dutch based in Albany, and with the later English who took over Dutch territory. Under pressure from the French in the late 17th century, some Mohawk moved to other areas. Some who had converted to Catholicism relocated to mission villages near Montreal and to the west along the St. Lawrence River. Because most of the Mohawk in the New York and Pennsylvania areas were allied with Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War, they were mostly forced out of New York when Britain ceded its territory in the colonies to the new United States. The Crown provided some land in compensation at what became the Six Nations Reserve of the Grand River, Ontario. This former village site was discovered in 1950 by Rev. Thomas Grassmann. It is the only Mohawk village site in the country to have been completely excavated for archeological studies.

Walter Butler Homestead, also known as Butlersbury, is a historic home located near Fonda in Montgomery County, New York. It is a 1+1⁄2-story, 40-foot-long, 30-foot-wide, 18th-century farmhouse. It has a limestone block foundation and cellar and attic. The dwelling was built by Lt. Walter Butler (ca. 1670–1760), father of John Butler (1728-1796).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The Fulton County Jail, originally the Tryon County Jail, is a historic jail complex located at the corner of Perry and Montgomery Street in Johnstown, Fulton County, New York. The original section was built in 1772-1773 and was placed on the village's highest ground to give a defensive advantage in case of an attack by Native Americans or a war. At the time, it was thought to be one of the strongest defensive positions in colonial America, due to its placement and the thick wall, which would deflect everything but the very strongest artillery.During the Revolutionary War, it became Fort Johnstown, a military garrison and prison, with the intent of preventing enemy infiltration along the Sacandaga road. A palisade was built to surround it, with four lookout towers at the corners. It was inspected by Lafayette in 1778. In 1781, the fort was the base for 400 militiamen led by Col. Marinus Willet and Capt. John Littel, who harried a British force of 700 Loyalists and Native Americans who were retreating after burning land in the Mohawk Valley.In 1783, the fort was visited by George Washington on his tour of the Mohawk Valley.The original building is a simple five bays wide, two bays deep, stone building with a medium pitched gable roof. The complex consists of the original jail with additions to form a two-story, L-shaped building with a large brick wing attached to the original section and a smaller brick wing to the west. The small brick wing dates to about 1890. The larger wing, known as the sheriff's quarters, is a two-story, square block with a hipped roof in the Colonial Revival style. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

The Chamberlain Benjamin House is a historic home at 100 South Market Street at the corner of Clinton Street Johnstown, Fulton County, New York. It was built in 1816 and is a 2+1⁄2-story, gable-roofed, brick, Federal period residence. It consists of a three-by-four-bay main block with a long, rectangular 2-story, four-bay rear wing. The interior is based on a side-hall plan. It features a blind-arcade front with brick pilasters and stepped parapet gable ends.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

The Fulton County Courthouse, originally the Tryon County Courthouse, and for a time the Montgomery County Courthouse, is a historic courthouse building located on North William Street at the corner of West Main Street in Johnstown, Fulton County, New York. It was built in 1772 to 1773 and is a Late Georgian style public building. It is the oldest existing Court House in the State of New York and one of the oldest in the United States still being used as a Court House. The courthouse is a 1+1⁄2-story brick structure, five bays wide and three bays deep. It features a bellcast gable roof with a cupola dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. Sir William Johnson, 1st Baronet (1715–1774) contributed £500 toward the construction of the building.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
