Arlington is a city in northern Snohomish County, Washington, United States, part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The city lies on the Stillaguamish River in the western foothills of the Cascade Range, adjacent to the city of Marysville. It is approximately 10 miles (16 km) north of Everett, the county seat, and 40 miles (64 km) north of Seattle, the state's largest city. As of the 2020 U.S. census, Arlington had a population of 19,868; its estimated population is 20,075 as of 2021. The city lies in the traditional territory of the Stillaguamish people, an indigenous Coast Salish group. Arlington was established in the 1880s by settlers and the area was platted as two towns, Arlington and Haller City. Haller City was absorbed by the larger Arlington, which was incorporated as a city in 1903. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, the Arlington area was the site of major projects undertaken for employment under the direction of federal relief agencies, including construction of a municipal airport that would serve as a naval air station during World War II. Arlington began suburbanizing in the 1980s, growing by more than 450 percent by 2000 and annexing the unincorporated area of Smokey Point to the southwest. The economy of the Arlington area historically relied on timber and agriculture. In the early 21st century, it has transitioned to a service economy, with some aviation industry jobs near the municipal airport. The city is governed by a mayor–council government, electing a mayor and seven city councilmembers. The municipal government maintains the city's parks system and water and wastewater utilities. Other services, including public utilities, public transportation, and schools, are contracted to regional or county-level agencies and companies.

Arlington High School is a public high school located in Arlington, Washington and is home to the Eagles. The enrollment was 1,598 for the 2005–2006 school year. This school was built in 2002 after years of unsuccessful building bonds. The grand opening, after five years of raising funds, was on May 31, 2003.

Sisco Heights is a census-designated place (CDP) in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. It is located between Arlington and Marysville along State Route 9. As of the 2020 U.S. census, it had a population of 3,140 people.

Angel of the Winds Casino Resort is a casino and hotel operated by the Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians near Arlington, Washington, United States. The casino opened in 2004 east of Interstate 5 and was initially in a modular building until an expansion in 2008. A 125-room hotel opened at the site in 2015 alongside additional gaming space.

The Trafton Elementary School in Arlington, Washington, USA was founded in 1888, rebuilt after a fire in 1912, and is listed on the Washington State Heritage Register and the National Register of Historic Places. In February 2010, the Arlington School District was considering closing the school after the current school year. Then in June they indeed voted to do so.The two-story building, described in 2010 by the Everett Herald as "the oldest continuously operating small school in Washington", still retains its old school bell on the roof. It is the focal point of the Trafton community northeast of Arlington proper, and is the site of the annual Trafton Fair every September. As of 2010, the K-5 school has 135 students, from about 70 families.Faced with a $2.4 million budget crunch from the late-2000s recession, Arlington decided to close the school. According to the Everett Herald, Arlington's Eagle Creek Elementary School several miles away was "about 200 students below its capacity and could easily take in the staff and students from Trafton." Trafton needed about $850,000 in repairs and improvements, which would have had to be funded by a bond issue if the school was to remain open; conversely, rolling Trafton into Eagle Creek was projected to save an estimated $300,000 a year.It was later renovated into a 5,392 sq. ft private residence and placed on the market in 2023 for $1.5 million.

Trafton is a small unincorporated community located in Snohomish County, Washington. It is located near the city of Arlington, and although many things in the area are named Trafton (such as the historic Trafton School and Trafton Cemetery), most residents consider themselves residents of Arlington.

A post office called Bryant was established in 1893, and remained in operation until 1954. The community most likely took its name from the Bryant Lumber and Shingle Company.

Smokey Point is a community and former census-designated place in northern Snohomish County, Washington. The area, developed as a suburban bedroom community in the late 20th century, was annexed into the nearby cities of Arlington and Marysville in the 1990s and 2000s.

Frontier Airpark is a private airport and suburban housing development located east of Marysville, Washington. The airpark was established in 1985 and features a single 3,800-foot-long (1,200 m) runway that is connected to homes by a series of taxiways.

Lakewood School District, officially known as Lakewood School District 306, is a school district that serves the communities of Lake Goodwin, North Lakewood and Smokey Point in northern Snohomish County, Washington in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It consists of five schools, three of which are elementary schools and two are middle and high schools, respectively. The district was established in 1914 as consolidation of three earlier school districts in the region that were established as early as 1891. The majority of district facilities, including the main office, are located on a campus located south of Washington State Route 531 in North Lakewood. There are bus transportation services offered to schools part of the district in its 22.5-square-mile (58 km2) area, in addition to a family access program.
