Eaton railway station

Plowden is a hamlet in the parish of Lydbury North, Shropshire, England. It is in the valley of the River Onny and lies 3 miles east of Bishop's Castle. Plowden was one of the stations on the Bishops Castle Railway, which closed in 1935.Plowden Hall is a grade II* listed building, being a timber-framed building dating in part from about 1300, and is described in the novel John Inglesant by Joseph Henry Shorthouse, who drew the place as Lydiard. Its owners, the Plowden family, remained Roman Catholics after the Reformation and there is a Roman Catholic church of St Walburga in Plowden. When Edwin Plowden was awarded a life peerage in 1959 he took the title of Baron Plowden of Plowden in the county of Salop. GWR Hall class locomotive 4956 was named after the hall.

Myndtown (sometimes formerly spelt Mindtown) is a small village and civil parish in rural Shropshire, around 5 miles to the north-east of Bishop's Castle. The village of Myndtown itself lies immediately beneath the slope of the Long Mynd; it consists of only one farm, the former rectory and the small parish church of St. John the Baptist, which has 12th-century origins and is Grade II* listed. The parish is sparsely populated and includes some other small settlements such as Asterton.

Wentnor is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. It lies to the west of the Long Mynd and between the village and the hill range is the dispersed settlement of Prolly Moor. The village itself is situated atop a hill, which rises to 269 metres (883 ft) above sea level, with the Criftin Brook to the east and the River East Onny to the west. The nearest towns are Church Stretton and Bishop's Castle, the village of Asterton lies 1 mile to the south east of the village. There is a parish church and two public houses: the "Crown" in the village itself and the "Inn on the Green" which is in a hamlet, just outside the village, by the River East Onny called The Green.

Asterton is a hamlet in Shropshire, England in the civil parish of Myndtown. The name means "eastern home farm", from Old English east "east" and "ham" "home". It is thought to date back to early Saxon times. It is situated 4 miles south west of Church Stretton, 6 miles north west of Bishops Castle, 15 miles north west of Ludlow and 17 miles south of Shrewsbury, the county town of Shropshire. The nearest other settlements are Prolly Moor, Wentnor, Ratlinghope, Myndtown and Little Stretton. The village is home to 40 residents in 13 houses. It is well known for being at the foot of the long, steep and precipitous single lane road the runs down the western ridge of the Longmynd into the village. This road is often closed during spells of adverse weather in the winter and results in motorists facing a diversion via Plowden and Marshbrook before reaching Church Stretton. The Midland Gliding club is situated at the top of this road, above the village on the Longmynd.

Clun and Bishop's Castle was a rural district in Shropshire, England from 1894 to 1974. It was created by the Local Government Act 1894 as the Clun Rural District, based on the Clun rural sanitary district. It was enlarged in 1934 under a County Review Order by taking in the disbanded Chirbury Rural District and Teme Rural District.1967 saw the district renamed 'Clun and Bishop's Castle', when it absorbed the municipal borough of Bishop's Castle. Bishop's Castle became a rural borough within the rural district.The district was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, and was merged to form part of the South Shropshire district.

Prolley Moor (also known as Prolly Moor) is a small dispersed settlement in Shropshire, England, based around a cross roads. The settlement is located one mile from Asterton and half a mile from Wentnor. There are no services at Prolly Moor.

Edgton is a small village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. It is also an ecclesiastical parish and a chapelry. It lies in a rather remote and very rural area, south of the River Onny. The nearest market towns are Bishop's Castle, Craven Arms, Clun and Church Stretton, while the larger village of Lydbury North lies a few miles to the west. It is located 4 miles west of Craven Arms and is positioned on the former stagecoach route from London to Bishop's Castle.

Lydham Heath railway station was a station in Lydham, Shropshire, England. The station was opened on 1 February 1866 and closed on 20 April 1935.As of September 2009, the only visible remains of the station is the cattle dock.

Linley is a hamlet in Shropshire, England. It is part of the civil parish of More. The hamlet is located approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) east of the A488 road, and 2 miles north of the village of Lydham, and 3.5 miles north of Bishop's Castle. It is situated near the West Onny river and a local feature is Linley Hall.

Lydbury North is a village and a geographically large civil parish in south Shropshire, England. The population of the parish at the 2011 census was 695. The parish is locally called Lydbury, and there is no settlement called Lydbury South. It lies in the southwest corner of the county, near to the small towns of Clun and Bishop's Castle. The B4385 road runs through the village, as does the Jack Mytton Way. To the west is the village and parish of Colebatch. There is a part-time post office, community shop, school and church. Also there is a public house called the Powis Arms. The parish church, St Michael and All Angels, contains a small Catholic chapel.The village is at grid reference SO352859 and lies between 155m and 165m above sea level. Whilst the land to the south is flat, to the north it rises steeply.
