Lydbury North is a village and a geographically large civil parish in south Shropshire, England. The population of the parish at the 2011 census was 695. The parish is locally called Lydbury, and there is no settlement called Lydbury South. It lies in the southwest corner of the county, near to the small towns of Clun and Bishop's Castle. The B4385 road runs through the village, as does the Jack Mytton Way. To the west is the village and parish of Colebatch. There is a part-time post office, community shop, school and church. Also there is a public house called the Powis Arms. The parish church, St Michael and All Angels, contains a small Catholic chapel.The village is at grid reference SO352859 and lies between 155m and 165m above sea level. Whilst the land to the south is flat, to the north it rises steeply.

Kempton is a very small village in south Shropshire, England. The village was listed as one of William de Picot's holdings in the Domesday Book of 1086. It lies on the small River Kemp, which it takes its name from.

Plowden is a hamlet in the parish of Lydbury North, Shropshire, England. It is in the valley of the River Onny and lies 3 miles east of Bishop's Castle. Plowden was one of the stations on the Bishops Castle Railway, which closed in 1935.Plowden Hall is a grade II* listed building, being a timber-framed building dating in part from about 1300, and is described in the novel John Inglesant by Joseph Henry Shorthouse, who drew the place as Lydiard. Its owners, the Plowden family, remained Roman Catholics after the Reformation and there is a Roman Catholic church of St Walburga in Plowden. When Edwin Plowden was awarded a life peerage in 1959 he took the title of Baron Plowden of Plowden in the county of Salop. GWR Hall class locomotive 4956 was named after the hall.

Edgton is a small village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. It is also an ecclesiastical parish and a chapelry. It lies in a rather remote and very rural area, south of the River Onny. The nearest market towns are Bishop's Castle, Craven Arms, Clun and Church Stretton, while the larger village of Lydbury North lies a few miles to the west. It is located 4 miles west of Craven Arms and is positioned on the former stagecoach route from London to Bishop's Castle.

Burrow is a hill in Shropshire with an Iron Age hill fort at the summit known as Burrow Camp. The nearest villages are Hopesay and Aston-on-Clun. It includes a large number of hut platforms, and two natural springs.At 15:45 on 13 September 1943 a Vickers Wellington crashed on the hill. The flight was part of a cross-country and practice bombing exercise from RAF Chipping Warden, Northamptonshire. The crew encountered a severe thunderstorm above south Shropshire and was seen to be struck by lightning while flying over Lydbury North causing the plane to catch fire and lose height before disintegrating on the hilltop killing all eight crew members.

Lydham Heath railway station was a station in Lydham, Shropshire, England. The station was opened on 1 February 1866 and closed on 20 April 1935.As of September 2009, the only visible remains of the station is the cattle dock.

Little Brampton is a hamlet in south Shropshire, England. It is located between Purslow and Aston on Clun, and is on the border of the civil parishes of Clunbury and Hopesay.Little Brampton is situated on a notable crossroads in the Clun valley, where the B4385 (from Lydbury North) and B4368 (running between Clun and Craven Arms) roads meet, as well as the lane down to the village of Clunbury. The crossroads is at an elevation of 167 metres (548 ft). The River Kemp flows just to the south of the hamlet; the Clun flows further south near Clunbury.The road that runs from Little Brampton to the centre of Bishop's Castle (a section of the B4385) is named "Brampton Road". There is a tea room called The Old Wheelwrights at the crossroads.By the crossroads is an ornamental road direction sign for local destinations.

Purslow is a hamlet in south Shropshire, England. It is located on the B4368 between the towns of Clun and Craven Arms, on a minor crossroads. Purslow gave its name to a hundred and there is a pub at the crossroads called the "Hundred House". There is also a manor house which has existed in some form since the twelfth century. It is believed the name originally comes from the naming of 'Pusse's barrow'. A coat of arms exists for the Purslow family. Sited at the crossroads opposite the Hundred House pub is a war memorial in form of a stone obelisk to commemorate those fallen from the area, including an officer in the Gulf War (1991).Although a tiny settlement, the annual summer Purslow Sports and Show attracts visitors (and relies on organisers) from all over the area. Highlights are a run up Clunbury Hill and the produce tent, where exhibitors compete for prizes in horticulture, cookery, and handicrafts. Held on August Bank Holiday Monday at Purslow Farm. The hamlet forms part of the civil parish of Clunbury, a nearby village.

St Mary's Church is in the village of Hopesay, Shropshire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Clun Forest, the archdeaconry of Ludlow, and the diocese of Hereford. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building.

Hopesay is a small village, and civil parish, in south Shropshire, England. The population of the parish at the 2011 census was 561.The name 'Hopesay' derives from "Hope de Say", the valley of Picot de Say, a Norman baron who held the manor of neighbouring Sibdon Carwood and whose power base was the nearby Clun Castle. Though most of the Norman influence has been lost, the church tower does date back to Norman times. The 13th-century church of St Mary, restored c.1880, is a Grade I listed building. The village has an active community though in recent decades has suffered from depopulation, leading to the closure of both the village shop and Post office, and the school (closed in 1989). Within the parish lies the larger village of Aston on Clun, and the village of Broome which has a railway station on the Heart of Wales Line. The hamlet of Basford, in the north of the parish, straddles the boundary with Edgton parish. The writer and adventurer Vivienne de Watteville (Vivienne Goschen) is buried at Hopesay.
