Hille (Belgium)

The VRT Zendstation Egem is a 305 metres (1,001 ft) tall guyed mast used as a broadcast antenna. It broadcasts the radio and TV programs of the VRT and Q-Music, JOE fm, and Nostalgie Vlaanderen. There are also a number of antennas for mobile communications (Base, Mobistar and Proximus) attached to the mast. It was built in 1973 and is located in Egem in Pittem, West Flanders, Belgium. It was the tallest structure in Belgium, the Sint-Pieters-Leeuw Tower beats it with its 302 meters in height. Since 2008 the tower is owned and operated by Norkring België.Radio services broadcast from the site (particularly those of the VRT) can be received in parts of neighbouring countries. Reception of the VRT services can regularly be received in the southern provinces of the Netherlands, Nord-Pas-de-Calais in Northern France and Kent in Southeast England.

The municipality comprises the towns of Wingene proper and Zwevezele. On December 1, 2019, Wingene had a total population of 14,398. The total area is 68.42 km2 which gives a population density of 192 inhabitants per km2.

Pittem (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈpɪtɛm]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Egem and Pittem proper. Pittem has a population of more than 6,700. The total area is 34.42 km² which gives a population density of 192 inhabitants per km².

During the First World War Hitler was stationed in Ardooie quartered with a family. He painted some of the buildings and the countryside.

Lichtervelde (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlɪxtərˌvɛldə]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises only the town of Lichtervelde. On January 1, 2006 Lichtervelde had a total population of 8,400. The total area is 25.93 km² which gives a population density of 324 inhabitants per km². The church is 64 m high. In this town the inventor Charles Joseph Van Depoele was born.

Oostkamp (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈoːstkɑmp]; West Flemish: Ôostkamp) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the villages of Hertsberge, Oostkamp proper, Ruddervoorde and Waardamme. On January 1, 2019, Oostkamp had a total population of 23,698. The total area is 79.65 km² which gives a population density of 289 inhabitants per km².

Jabbeke (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈjɑbeːkə]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Jabbeke proper, Snellegem, Stalhille, Varsenare and Zerkegem. On 1 January 2006 the municipality had 13,572 inhabitants. The total area is 53.76 km2 (20.76 sq mi), giving a population density of 252 inhabitants per km².

Tielt (Dutch pronunciation: [tilt]; French: Thielt) is a Belgian city and municipality in the province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the town of Tielt proper and the villages of Aarsele, Kanegem, and Schuiferskapelle.

Loppem Castle (Dutch: Kasteel van Loppem) is a mansion situated in Loppem in the municipality of Zedelgem, near Bruges in West Flanders, in the Flemish Region of Belgium. Unusually, it preserves its original architecture and interior decoration. The castle has a richly decorated and furnished interior, and houses a collection of works of art (paintings, stained glass, statuary). It is surrounded by a romantic park with ponds and a maze, which has itself been designated a protected heritage landscape.The castle and park are now owned by the Stichting Jean van Caloen ("Jean van Caloen Foundation") and have been open to the public since 1975.

The 1933 Imperial Airways Ruysselede crash occurred on 30 December 1933 when an Imperial Airways Avro Ten collided with one of the radio masts of Belradio at Ruysselede, West Flanders, Belgium and crashed killing all ten people on board. The aircraft was operating an international scheduled passenger flight from Cologne, Germany to London, England via Brussels, Belgium.
