Grand River Hospital station

Grand River Hospital is a hospital located in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. The hospital operates two campuses, Kitchener-Waterloo Health Centre and Freeport Health Centre, which were independent hospitals that merged to form Grand River Hospital in April 1995. The hospital has over 650 beds and 15 specialized programs and services: surgery, children's program, childbirth, medical imaging, mental health and addictions, withdrawal management, medicine, stroke, complex continuing care, rehabilitation, cancer, critical care, renal, emergency, pharmacy and lab. The hospital also provides renal dialysis and cancer satellite programs in Guelph, Palmerston, Fergus and Mt Forest Centre in Guelph, along with the Hazelglen Outreach Mental Health service in Kitchener. On September 22, 2019, Grand River Hospital integrated all of their systems into a new central computer system in order to improve efficiency for patient care.

Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate and Vocational School, commonly called Kitchener Collegiate Institute or KCI, is a public secondary school in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. It is a member of the Waterloo Region District School Board. The school dates from 1855, making it one of the oldest high schools in Kitchener and Waterloo. Its sports teams are known as the Raiders.

The Dominion Tire Plant, later known as the Uniroyal Tire Plant then the Uniroyal-Goodrich Tire Plant and today known as AirBoss Rubber Compounding is a rubber and tire company located on Glasgow Street in Kitchener, Ontario. It is the largest independent rubber mixing plant in North America.

Allen is a stop on the Region of Waterloo's Ion rapid transit system. It is located in the median of King Street in Waterloo, between Allen and John Streets. It opened in 2019. North of the station, the tracks split bidirectionally, with the northbound track continuing along King Street but the southbound track diverting along Allen to follow Caroline Street. They combine again beyond Erb Street to follow the Waterloo Spur rail line, together northward. Access to the platform is from the crosswalks, at either Allen Street or John Street. The station is located directly between two recent condominium developments: 'The Red' to the north, and the 'Bauer Lofts' to the south. Just to the northwest is the City of Waterloo's Adult Recreation Centre, and the 'Circa 1877' condominium. About 200 metres (660 ft) southeast is Sun Life Financial's Waterloo headquarters office tower. The station's feature wall consists of red, tan, and white glass tiles in a pattern. Connections to local GRT bus routes 7 and 16 are available immediately to the north of the station, around the intersection of King and Allen. The 301R Ion rail replacement bus uses the same set of stops as well.

Elizabeth Ziegler Public School is an elementary school located in Waterloo, Ontario, at 90 Moore Avenue South, roughly one kilometre east of Waterloo's city centre. As of 2009, the school serves junior kindergarten through grade 6. Its principal is currently Ms. Susan Marchiori, and it has a vice principal, Ms. MacNeill. The school also currently hosts one mixed grade 5&6 enrichment class for gifted students. In 2005 the school was ranked 971st out of 2,850 elementary schools in Ontario by the Fraser Institute, based on the results of grade 3 and 6 students on province-wide standardized tests. The school was named after local teacher Elizabeth Ziegler, who had taught in Waterloo for 55 years. The original building was designed by Frank W. Warren of Hamilton and construction overseen by Alex Schnarr of Waterloo. It was officially opened on September 2, 1931 by George Henry, then the Premier of Ontario. At the time, it was Waterloo's third public elementary school. The first principal was C. J. MacGregor. Between 1940 and 1950 the school also housed some grade 9 classes because of overcrowding at Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate and Vocational School. On December 16, 1985, the school building was designated by the City of Waterloo as a heritage landmark under the provisions of the Ontario Heritage Act. The building was built in Gothic Revival style and cost $121,999 to build, a significant expenditure during the Great Depression. The building was three stories tall and originally had 16 rooms, including double-sized rooms for household science, kindergarten, manual training, and assembly. Included in the design of the school was a nod to Waterloo's official flower, the gladiolus, which Warren had carved above the main entrance. Two extensions were later made, one in 1955 and another, consisting mainly of a gymnasium, in 1987. The school, which as of 2016 is the oldest school in Waterloo that is still operating, celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2006. Students celebrated on June 21, 2006 and an open house was held on October 14, 2006. Lennox Lewis, former heavyweight boxing champion, attended the school in the late 1970s.

The Erb-Kumpf House (also known as the Kumpf House and the Abraham Erb House) is a two-storey house located on 172 King Street South in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. The oldest portion of the house was constructed circa 1812 by Abraham Erb, the founder of Waterloo, likely making it the oldest home or one of the oldest homes in the city. In 1979, the Erb-Kumpf House was designated as a heritage home under the Ontario Heritage Act by the City of Waterloo.As of December 2020, the house is occupied by the Oldfield, Greaves, D'Agostino, Billo & Nowak law firm.

Waterloo is a city in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is one of three cities in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo (formerly Waterloo County). Waterloo is situated about 94 km (58 mi) west-southwest of Toronto. Due to the close proximity of the city of Kitchener to Waterloo, the two together are often referred to as "Kitchener–Waterloo", "K-W" or "The Twin Cities". While several unsuccessful attempts to combine the municipalities of Kitchener and Waterloo have been made, following the 1973 establishment of the Region of Waterloo, less motivation to do so existed, and as a result, Waterloo remains an independent city. At the time of the 2021 census, the population of Waterloo was 121,436.

Willis Way is a stop on the Region of Waterloo's Ion rapid transit system. It is located on Caroline Street in Waterloo, at Willis Way. It opened in 2019. The station serves southbound trains only; the nearest northbound platform is at Waterloo Public Square station, about 200 metres (660 ft) away. Buses passing southbound on Caroline Street are served by the station platform, opposite the rail side. Access to the platform is from the west side of Caroline only, on the north end of the platform; at the south end there is a crosswalk to access both sides of the road. The station's feature wall consists of black, grey, and white glass tiles in a pattern. The station is centrally located in Waterloo's central business district, known as Uptown. Just north of the station is the Shops at Waterloo Square shopping mall; other nearby institutions include the Centre for International Governance Innovation, the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. In late 2020, a cycling facility including covered parking and a repair station was installed just west of the station.

The station serves northbound trains only; the nearest southbound platform is at Willis Way station, about 200 metres (660 ft) away. The station's feature wall consists of dark blue, light blue, and white glass tiles in a pattern. The station is centrally located in Waterloo's central business district, known as Uptown. Just south of the station is the Shops at Waterloo Square shopping mall; other nearby institutions include the Centre for International Governance Innovation, the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics.

Central Station is a light rail station in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, which is planned to be expanded into an intermodal transit terminal. As of 2021, it consists of an Ion light rail stop and Grand River Transit bus stops. The site is planned to also include a train station served by Via Rail and GO Transit, and an intercity bus terminal. The station will replace the current Kitchener railway station and partially replace the Charles Street Terminal. In the vicinity is the University of Waterloo's Health Sciences campus (including its School of Pharmacy), the 'One Victoria' condominium development, and the 'Kaufman Lofts' condominium (occupying the former Kaufman Footwear factory). Just north of the mainline tracks is a former industrial building, the 'Breithaupt Block', which currently houses offices of Google Canada.

The Huether Hotel (also known as Ewald House from 1911–1934 and Hotel Kent from 1934–1980s) is an historic building in Waterloo, Ontario. Originally built in 1855, renovations beginning in the 1870s established the building in the High Victorian style. Starting as a hotel and home for the Lion Brewery, the building today houses a café, restaurant and pub with the brewery now located next door.

The Balsillie School of International Affairs (BSIA) is a centre for advanced research and teaching on global governance and international public policy, located in Waterloo, Ontario. As one of the largest social sciences initiatives in Canada, the school is a collaborative partnership between the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, and the Centre for International Governance Innovation. The BSIA is an affiliate member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs, a group of schools that educate leaders in international affairs. The BSIA is housed in the north and west wings of the CIGI Campus. Admission to BSIA is highly selective.
