Waterloo is a city in the Canadian province of Ontario. It is one of three cities in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo (formerly Waterloo County). Waterloo is situated about 94 km (58 mi) west-southwest of Toronto. Due to the close proximity of the city of Kitchener to Waterloo, the two together are often referred to as "Kitchener–Waterloo", "K-W" or "The Twin Cities". While several unsuccessful attempts to combine the municipalities of Kitchener and Waterloo have been made, following the 1973 establishment of the Region of Waterloo, less motivation to do so existed, and as a result, Waterloo remains an independent city. At the time of the 2021 census, the population of Waterloo was 121,436.

Grand River Hospital is a stop on the Region of Waterloo's Ion rapid transit system. It is located in the median of King Street in Kitchener, between Pine and Mount Hope Streets, just north of its namesake, the KW Site of Grand River Hospital. It opened in 2019. The station's feature wall consists of ceramic tiles in a solid hospital-blue. The station also features the artwork Spinal Column by Sandra Dunn about the LRT being the backbone of the local economy.The primary access to the platform is from the crosswalk at Pine Street; secondary accesses at the west end of the platform, crossing either side of King Street, are marked as emergency exits only. The station is also near Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate, a major high school, and the CTV Kitchener studios.

Waterloo Bible College is a conservative, evangelical, Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement college and seminary in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, training clergy for the Evangelical Christian Church in Canada.

Grand River Hospital is a hospital located in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. The hospital operates two campuses, Kitchener-Waterloo Health Centre and Freeport Health Centre, which were independent hospitals that merged to form Grand River Hospital in April 1995. The hospital has over 650 beds and 15 specialized programs and services: surgery, children's program, childbirth, medical imaging, mental health and addictions, withdrawal management, medicine, stroke, complex continuing care, rehabilitation, cancer, critical care, renal, emergency, pharmacy and lab. The hospital also provides renal dialysis and cancer satellite programs in Guelph, Palmerston, Fergus and Mt Forest Centre in Guelph, along with the Hazelglen Outreach Mental Health service in Kitchener. On September 22, 2019, Grand River Hospital integrated all of their systems into a new central computer system in order to improve efficiency for patient care.

Allen is a stop on the Region of Waterloo's Ion rapid transit system. It is located in the median of King Street in Waterloo, between Allen and John Streets. It opened in 2019. North of the station, the tracks split bidirectionally, with the northbound track continuing along King Street but the southbound track diverting along Allen to follow Caroline Street. They combine again beyond Erb Street to follow the Waterloo Spur rail line, together northward. Access to the platform is from the crosswalks, at either Allen Street or John Street. The station is located directly between two recent condominium developments: 'The Red' to the north, and the 'Bauer Lofts' to the south. Just to the northwest is the City of Waterloo's Adult Recreation Centre, and the 'Circa 1877' condominium. About 200 metres (660 ft) southeast is Sun Life Financial's Waterloo headquarters office tower. The station's feature wall consists of red, tan, and white glass tiles in a pattern. Connections to local GRT bus routes 7 and 16 are available immediately to the north of the station, around the intersection of King and Allen. The 301R Ion rail replacement bus uses the same set of stops as well.

The Erb-Kumpf House (also known as the Kumpf House and the Abraham Erb House) is a two-storey house located on 172 King Street South in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. The oldest portion of the house was constructed circa 1812 by Abraham Erb, the founder of Waterloo, likely making it the oldest home or one of the oldest homes in the city. In 1979, the Erb-Kumpf House was designated as a heritage home under the Ontario Heritage Act by the City of Waterloo.As of December 2020, the house is occupied by the Oldfield, Greaves, D'Agostino, Billo & Nowak law firm.

Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate and Vocational School, commonly called Kitchener Collegiate Institute or KCI, is a public secondary school in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. It is a member of the Waterloo Region District School Board. The school dates from 1855, making it one of the oldest high schools in Kitchener and Waterloo. Its sports teams are known as the Raiders.

Access to the platform is open from the square itself, or from the north side of the mall to the west of the station. The station serves northbound trains only; the nearest southbound platform is at Willis Way station, about 200 metres (660 ft) away. The station's feature wall consists of dark blue, light blue, and white glass tiles in a pattern. The station is centrally located in Waterloo's central business district, known as Uptown. Just south of the station is the Shops at Waterloo Square shopping mall; other nearby institutions include the Centre for International Governance Innovation, the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics.

The Huether Hotel (also known as Ewald House from 1911–1934 and Hotel Kent from 1934–1980s) is an historic building in Waterloo, Ontario. Originally built in 1855, renovations beginning in the 1870s established the building in the High Victorian style. Starting as a hotel and home for the Lion Brewery, the building today houses a café, restaurant and pub with the brewery now located next door.

Willis Way is a stop on the Region of Waterloo's Ion rapid transit system. It is located on Caroline Street in Waterloo, at Willis Way. It opened in 2019. The station serves southbound trains only; the nearest northbound platform is at Waterloo Public Square station, about 200 metres (660 ft) away. Buses passing southbound on Caroline Street are served by the station platform, opposite the rail side. Access to the platform is from the west side of Caroline only, on the north end of the platform; at the south end there is a crosswalk to access both sides of the road. The station's feature wall consists of black, grey, and white glass tiles in a pattern. The station is centrally located in Waterloo's central business district, known as Uptown. Just north of the station is the Shops at Waterloo Square shopping mall; other nearby institutions include the Centre for International Governance Innovation, the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. In late 2020, a cycling facility including covered parking and a repair station was installed just west of the station.

The Regional Municipality of Waterloo (Waterloo Region or Region of Waterloo) is a metropolitan area of Southern Ontario, Canada. It contains the cities of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo (KWC or Tri-Cities), and the townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich. Kitchener, the largest city, is the seat of government. The region is 1,369 square kilometres (529 sq mi) in area. The population was 587,165 at the 2021 Canada census. In 2016, the Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo area was rated Canada's third-best area to find full-time employment.The region was formerly called Waterloo County, created in 1853 and dissolved in 1973. The county consisted of five townships: Woolwich, Wellesley, Wilmot, Waterloo, and North Dumfries.

Waterloo County was a county in the Canadian province of Ontario from 1853 until 1973. It was the direct predecessor of the Regional Municipality of Waterloo. Situated on a subset of land within the Haldimand Tract, Waterloo County consisted of five townships: Woolwich, Wellesley, Wilmot, Waterloo, and North Dumfries. The major population centres were Waterloo, Kitchener (known as Berlin prior to 1916), Preston, Hespeler, Blair, and Doon in Waterloo township; Galt in North Dumfries; Elmira in Woolwich; and New Hamburg in Wilmot. All are now part of the Regional Municipality.
