Koskandawala Raja Maha Vihara

Pilikuththuwa Raja Maha Vihara (Sinhalaː පිළිකුත්තුව රජ මහා විහාරය ) is an ancient Cave temple situated in Pilikuththuwa, Sri Lanka. It is located on the Gampaha - Wathurugama road approximately 3.8 km (2.4 mi) away from the Miriswatta junction and 1.6 km (0.99 mi) from the ancient Buddhist temple, Maligatenna Raja Maha Vihara. The temple has been formally recognised by the Government as an archaeological site in Sri Lanka.

Maligatenna Raja Maha Vihara (Sinhala: මාලිගාතැන්න රජ මහා විහාරය/මාලිගාතැන්න ආරණ්‍ය සේනාසනය) is an ancient Cave temple located in Malwatuhiripitiya village, Gampaha District, Sri Lanka. The temple is located on the Gampaha-Wathurugama Road and approximately 1.6 km (0.99 mi) away from the ancient temple Pilikuththuwa Raja Maha Vihara. Currently this temple has been recognized as an archaeological protected site in Gampaha District by Archaeological department.

The Gampaha Wickramarachchi Institute, which had been affiliated with the University of Kelaniya, was elevated to university status in 2021. The decision has been described by some commentators as primarily political rather than based on long-term planning or infrastructure development. In addition to programs in Ayurveda and Indigenous medicine, the university has introduced new degree programs in fields such as biomedical technology, health information and communication technology, and management. These expansions have drawn criticism from academic reviewers, who argue that such programs fall outside the scope of Indigenous medicine and may affect the recognition of the degrees. A five-member expert committee, including representatives of the University Grants Commission (UGC), reportedly recommended that the programs be transferred to more appropriate universities.

Yakkala is a village located between Nittambuwa and Kadawatha on the A1 Highway (Colombo-Kandy Road). It forms part of Gampaha Municipal Council and located in the Gampaha District, Western Province. It is located 30 km (19 mi) from Colombo, 4.5 km (3 mi) east of Gampaha and 13 km (8 mi) north-west of Radawana. Yakkala is famous for the long-standing Ayurveda medicine family of Wickramaarachchi. Uruwala Valagamba Raja Maha Vihara (Sinhalaː ඌරුවල වලගම්බා රජ මහා විහාරය) is an ancient Buddhist temple in Uruwala, Sri Lanka. The temple is located on Wathurugama road and approximately 4.71 km (2.93 mi) away from Miriswatta junction. The temple has been formally recognized by the Government as an archaeological site in Sri Lanka.Pilikuththuwa, Maligatenna, Warana, Miriswatta and Koskandawala cave temples, situated in the vicinity of the Uruwala temple are said to have been formed one major temple complex in the early Anuradhapura period.

Warana Raja Maha Vihara (Sinhalaː වාරණ රජ මහා විහාරය) is an ancient Buddhist temple situated in Thihariya, Gampaha District, Sri Lanka. The temple is located approximately 5 km (3.1 mi) away from the Colombo - Kandy highway. Currently this temple has been recognized as an archaeological protected site in Gampaha District by Archaeological department.

Bandaranayake College Gampaha (Sinhala: බණ්ඩාරනායක විද්‍යාලය ගම්පහ) is a leading Buddhist Boys' school in Gampaha, Sri Lanka, founded on 18 September 1918. The school has a student population exceeding 5,000 across 8 grades from grade 6 to advanced level classes, on a campus of 2.83 ha (7.0 acres). Boys are admitted at grade six, based on the results of an island-wide Scholarship Examination.

Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya (Sinhala: රත්නාවලී බාලිකා විද්‍යාලය), is a leading government Buddhist national school for girls in Gampaha, Sri Lanka. Students are admitted to grade six on the basis of results of The Scholarship Examination in Sri Lanka.

Gampaha (Sinhala: ගම්පහ [ˈɡamːpaha]; Tamil: கம்பஹா [kambahaː]) is an urban city in Gampaha District, Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is situated to the north-east of the capital Colombo. It is the sixth largest urban area in Western Province, after Colombo, Negombo, Kalutara, Panadura and Avissawella. Gampaha is also the second largest municipal centre in Gampaha district, after Negombo. Gampaha has a land area of 25.8 ha (64 acres) and is home to the offices of 75 government institutions.

On 6 April 2008, 15 people were killed by an alleged suicide bomber, who exploded himself at the start of a marathon race which was part of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebration in Weliweriya town, Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka's national athletics coach Lakshman de Alwis, politician Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, former Olympics runner K.A. Karunaratne and army officer Lt Colonel Udayadeera were killed in the bombing which wounded 90 others. The Sri Lankan Government has blamed the Tamil Tigers for this attack because Minister Fernandopulle was a vocal critic of the Tamil Tigers.

Holy Cross Church, Gampaha Sinhala: සිරි කුරුස දේවස්ථානය, ගම්පහ is a Roman Catholic church located in Gampaha, Sri Lanka. It was founded in 1916 as a parish church of the Archdiocese of Colombo. The church is nicknamed "Gal Palliya/ගල් පල්ලිය" meaning "Rock Church" since the church facade is encrusted with gneiss stone.
