The Miramar Towers are two skyscrapers located in Avenida Balboa and Calle Federico Boyd, Panama City. Once, the hotel and residential tower complex were the tallest buildings in Panama at 168 m (551 ft), with 55 floors. The Miramar Towers generated much controversy locally since their construction has made expansion of Balboa avenue impossible. Other environmental groups also protested the building's blocking of a previously uninterrupted view to the ocean from the steep Federico Boyd boulevard.

Lotería is a Panama Metro station on Line 1. The station was not in the original metro plans and was the twelfth station to be opened. The official opening was carried out by President of Panama Juan Carlos Varela on 27 August 2014, four months after the network had opened. The station was originally to be called Marañón after a nearby district, but, in February 2012, was renamed to reflect its proximity to the offices of Panama's national lottery.In its first year of operations, Lotería was the ninth most used station of the twelve on the network at that time, used by 8% of the network's passengers.

The Panama State, officially known as the Federal State of Panama from 1855 to 1863, and as the Sovereign State of Panama from 1863 until 1866 when it was dissolved, was established as one of the states of the Republic of Gran Colombia established in 1821 after independence from the Spanish Empire and was later part of the Republic of New Granada, the Granadine Confederation, and the United States of Colombia. The state was established on 27 February 1855 and lasted until 1866 when it was replaced by the Department of Panama. In 1903, the territory of the Panama State was achieved independence as the Republic of Panama.
