Brockley railway station

Brockley Lane is a closed railway station in Brockley, south London. It was opened in June 1872 by the London, Chatham and Dover Railway on its Greenwich Park Branch Line. It closed to passengers in January 1917 with the branch, but remained open as a goods station until May 1970 (the Great Northern Railway had constructed a coal depot there in 1883).The site of the closed station is on Brockley Road, about 140 yards north-east of an open station now on the London Overground named Brockley, at a lower level on the London Bridge to Norwood Junction line, crossing under the former Greenwich Park branch. The line through Brockley Lane reopened to freight in 1929 and passengers in 1935 for trains from Dartford to London Victoria via a new link into Lewisham, but there has been no official suggestion that Brockley Lane might be rebuilt. The entrance to the station was in use as a shop until it was destroyed by fire in 2004. Short sections of the platforms are still visible at the lineside as are traces of the entrances on both sides of the bridge. The former stationmaster's residence opposite is now a private dwelling.

New Cross Gate Cutting or Brockley Nature Reserve is a 4.2 hectare nature reserve in Brockley in the London Borough of Lewisham. It is a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation managed by the London Wildlife Trust. This designated green space runs alongside the East London Line between Brockley and New Cross Gate, on the forest site that once lay on the Kent and Surrey border known as Hatcham Wood. The entrance is on Vesta Road situated between Barriedale in Brockley and Sandbourne Road, Telegraph Hill. The wood is a remnant of The Great North Wood and is currently managed by The London Wildlife Trust as a part of The Great North Wood Project. The reserve sustains a natural rare habitat for flora, fauna and wildlife including deer, however, it is mostly characterised by woodland such as sycamore, English & Turkey Oak, hawthorn and silver birch.The site is generally closed to the public but there are regular open days and volunteer workdays facilitated by London Wildlife Trust.

Lewisham Deptford is a parliamentary constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Vicky Foxcroft of the Labour Party.

New Cross is an area of south east London, England, 4.5 miles (7.2 km) south-east of Charing Cross in the London Borough of Lewisham and the SE14 postcode district. New Cross is near St Johns, Telegraph Hill, Nunhead, Peckham, Brockley, Deptford and Greenwich, and home to Goldsmiths, University of London, Haberdashers' Hatcham College and Addey and Stanhope School. New Cross Gate, on the west of New Cross, is named after the New Cross tollgate, established in 1718 by the New Cross Turnpike Trust. It is the location of New Cross station and New Cross Gate station. New Cross Gate corresponds to the manor and district formerly known as Hatcham.

Haberdashers' Hatcham College (formerly Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham College) is a state secondary school with academy status and a music specialism located in New Cross. The school was formerly a grammar school, then a comprehensive City Technology College and now an Academy operating between two sites near New Cross Gate in South-East London. In 2005 the Worshipful Company of Haberdashers established the Haberdashers' Aske's Academies Federation, which includes HAHC.

Telegraph Hill is a largely residential conservation area bounded by Nunhead and Brockley and is an electoral ward just south of New Cross in the London Borough of Lewisham in southeast London, England.

The Rivoli Ballroom is the only intact 1950s ballroom remaining in London, England. It is famed for its original decor and interior fittings, including red velvet, flock wallpaper, chandeliers, glitter balls and oversized Chinese lanterns. The venue is often used as a film location and plays host to many dance and musical events.

The A20 is a major road in south-east England, carrying traffic from London to Dover in Kent. Parts of the route date back to turnpikes established in the early part of the 18th century. The line of the road throughout Kent runs closely in parallel with the M20 motorway.

Crofton Park is a station on the 'Catford Loop' West Hampstead Thameslink to Sevenoaks route, between Nunhead and Catford. It is in Travelcard Zone 3. Crofton Park is in the historic centre of Brockley, in the London Borough of Lewisham and is 7 miles 11 chains (11.5 km) measured from London Victoria.

Goldsmiths, University of London, officially the Goldsmiths' College, is a constituent research university of the University of London in England. It was originally founded in 1891 as The Goldsmiths' Technical and Recreative Institute by the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths in New Cross, London. It was renamed Goldsmiths' College after being acquired by the University of London in 1904 and specialises in the arts, design, humanities and social sciences. The main building on campus, known as the Richard Hoggart Building, was originally opened in 1792 and is the site of the former Royal Naval School.According to Quacquarelli Symonds (2021), Goldsmiths ranks 12th in Communication and Media Studies, 15th in Art & Design and is ranked in the top 50 in the areas of Anthropology, Sociology and the Performing Arts. In 2020, the university enrolled over 10,000 students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 37% of students come from outside the United Kingdom and 52% of all undergraduates are mature students (aged 21 or over at the start of their studies). Additionally, around a third of students at Goldsmiths are postgraduate students.

Brockley and Ladywell Cemeteries (also known as Ladywell and Brockley Cemetery) were opened within one month of each other in 1858 and are sited on adjacent plots of previously open land. The two component parts are characteristic examples of the first wave of Victorian public cemeteries and are now part of the Brockley Conservation Area. The cemeteries occupy 37 acres (15 ha) of land wholly within the London Borough of Lewisham and are owned and managed by the Cemeteries and Crematorium Services of the Borough. They are also nature conservation sites of Borough Importance Grade 1 and a haven for wildlife, plants and wildflowers. Until 1948, the two cemeteries were completely separate, being divided by a wall. Ladywell Cemetery, which was previously known as Lewisham Cemetery, stands to the east of the wall and Brockley Cemetery, formerly Deptford Cemetery, lies to the west. Both cemeteries hold a wealth of historical interest. Evidence of Deptford's seafaring past can be found in the many inscriptions and adornments on the headstones.

Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art, known as Goldsmiths CCA, is a contemporary art gallery in New Cross, London within the campus of Goldsmiths, University of London. The gallery is located in the former boiler house and public laundry of Laurie Grove Baths, a Grade II-listed building. The building was refurbished by Assemble with a total area of 1,000m2, including 7 galleries, at a cost of £4.6million. The gallery opened on 8 September 2018 with an exhibition by Mika Rottenberg.
