Goldsmiths, University of London

The A20 is a major road in south-east England, carrying traffic from London to Dover in Kent. Parts of the route date back to turnpikes established in the early part of the 18th century. The line of the road throughout Kent runs closely in parallel with the M20 motorway.

Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art, known as Goldsmiths CCA, is a contemporary art gallery in New Cross, London within the campus of Goldsmiths, University of London. The gallery is located in the former boiler house and public laundry of Laurie Grove Baths, a Grade II-listed building. The building was refurbished by Assemble with a total area of 1,000m2, including 7 galleries, at a cost of £4.6million. The gallery opened on 8 September 2018 with an exhibition by Mika Rottenberg.

The Metropolitan Borough of Deptford was a Metropolitan borough in the County of London between 1900 and 1965, when it became part of the London Borough of Lewisham along with the Metropolitan Borough of Lewisham.

Fordham Park is a public park in New Cross, London, England, owned and managed by the London Borough of Lewisham. It lies in between New Cross and New Cross Gate railway stations, and just north of the A2 road between London and Dover. It is immediately south to Deptford Green School, and is often used by students as a sports area. The park in New Cross was regenerated in 2010 with new lighting, trees, furniture and play elements being added to the park.The park contains a public memorial plaque and bench dedicated to the victims of the New Cross house fire of 1981; the memorials were installed in 2012.

New Cross is an area of south east London, England, 4.5 miles (7.2 km) south-east of Charing Cross in the London Borough of Lewisham and the SE14 postcode district. New Cross is near St Johns, Telegraph Hill, Nunhead, Peckham, Brockley, Deptford and Greenwich, and home to Goldsmiths, University of London, Haberdashers' Hatcham College and Addey and Stanhope School. New Cross Gate, on the west of New Cross, is named after the New Cross tollgate, established in 1718 by the New Cross Turnpike Trust. It is the location of New Cross station and New Cross Gate station. New Cross Gate corresponds to the manor and district formerly known as Hatcham.

New Cross railway station serves New Cross in south-east London, England. It is 4 miles 68 chains (7.8 km) down the line from London Charing Cross and is in London fare zone 2. The platforms are lettered rather than numbered to avoid confusion with those at New Cross Gate by staff who worked at both stations before privatisation of the stations in 1997. Platform D is used exclusively by London Overground services. Ticket barriers control access to all platforms.

The Waldron Health Centre is a National Health Service (NHS) building next to New Cross railway station in Lewisham, South London, England. It was completed in phases, with the health centre finished in 2008 and final construction ending in 2010.

New Cross Gate is a railway station in New Cross, London, on the Brighton Main Line and the London Overground. It is 2 miles 70 chains (2.88 miles, 4.63 km) down the line from London Bridge and is about 600 m (660 yd) west of New Cross station. It is in Travelcard Zone 2, and is operated by London Overground.

New Cross Gate Cutting or Brockley Nature Reserve is a 4.2 hectare nature reserve in Brockley in the London Borough of Lewisham. It is a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation managed by the London Wildlife Trust. This designated green space runs alongside the East London Line between Brockley and New Cross Gate, on the forest site that once lay on the Kent and Surrey border known as Hatcham Wood. The entrance is on Vesta Road situated between Barriedale in Brockley and Sandbourne Road, Telegraph Hill. The wood is a remnant of The Great North Wood and is currently managed by The London Wildlife Trust as a part of The Great North Wood Project. The reserve sustains a natural rare habitat for flora, fauna and wildlife including deer, however, it is mostly characterised by woodland such as sycamore, English & Turkey Oak, hawthorn and silver birch.The site is generally closed to the public but there are regular open days and volunteer workdays facilitated by London Wildlife Trust.

The New Cross house fire was a fire that occurred during a party at a house in New Cross, south-east London, in the early hours of Sunday, 18 January 1981. The blaze killed 13 young black people aged between 14 and 22, and one survivor took his own life two years later.No one has ever been charged in connection with the fire, which forensic science subsequently established started inside the house. Inquests into the deaths were held in 1981 and 2004. Both inquests recorded open verdicts. In the immediate aftermath of the fire, a New Cross Massacre Action Committee (NCMAC) was set up, chaired by John La Rose, which organised a "Black People's Day of Action" on 2 March 1981, when some 20,000 people marched over a period of eight hours through London, carrying placards that bore statements including: "13 Dead, Nothing Said".

Deptford Green School is a coeducational comprehensive secondary school in Deptford, Lewisham, England with approximately 1100 pupils. Deptford Green also has specialisms in Humanities, with English, Citizenship and Drama as flagship subjects. The school was also part of the former Crossways Federation, being one of four feeder schools to Crossways Sixth Form, along with Addey and Stanhope School, Catford Business and Enterprise College and Crofton School. In January 2012 Bill Gates visited the school as part of the speakers for schools project. He stated that "Deptford Green is a model of a global school with socially conscious students." Boris Johnson has also visited the school.
