Três Figueiras (meaning Three Fig Trees in Portuguese) is a neighbourhood of the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. A residential neighbourhood, it embrace people from upper middle class to upper class, having many sophisticated houses. Três Figueiras was created by Law 2022 of December 7, 1959. There is located the Design School of Unisinos. Also, there has two highly regarded and traditional private schools, the Farroupilha and Anchieta schools, and a highly regarded private school for childhood, the Baby House.

Colégio Farroupilha (Farroupilha Elementary, Middle and High School in English) is one of the most traditional private schools in Porto Alegre and in Brazil. It has ranked at the top 1% of schools in Brazil for as long as the ENEM (National High School Exam) ranking has existed.

The killing of João Alberto Freitas refers to the beating and murder by asphyxiation of João Alberto Silveira Freitas, at the hands of security guards at a Carrefour store , located in the Passo d'Areia neighborhood , in the northern part of the city of Porto Alegre , in Rio de Janeiro . Grande do Sul , on the night of November 19 , 2020 . The murder started a series of anti-racist protests in several Brazilian cities. João Alberto, a forty-year-old black man, worked as a service provider. He was buried on November 21 in Porto Alegre.Six people were indicted by the Public Ministry for homicide, including two security guards (one of them a temporary military police officer) and four Carrefour employees.

The Porto Alegre Brazil Temple is the 102nd operating temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The Porto Alegre Temple overlooks the city from the east toward a large river and port for which the city is named. The Museu de Ciências Naturais da Fundação Zoobotânica do Rio Grande do Sul ("Museum of Natural Sciences of the Rio Grande do Sul Zoobotanical Foundation"), is a Brazilian museum located inside the Porto Alegre Botanical Garden.
