Bela Vista (meaning Beautiful View in English) is a neighborhood of the city of Porto Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. It was created by Law 2022 of December 7, 1959. Bela Vista is characterized by its apartment buildings, some of which are very sophisticated, embracing people from the upper middle class to the upper class.

Moinhos de Vento Park (Portuguese: Parque Moinhos de Vento, literally "Windmills Park"), popularly known as Parcão (literally "Big Park"), is a well-known park in Porto Alegre. It is located in the Moinhos de Vento neighborhood. The park structure consists of soccer, tennis and volleyball fields, gym equipment, a playground, a kids library, a pond with fish, turtles and ducks, a playground, and a replica of an Azorean windmill. The park also features a monument commemorating Castelo Branco.

The neighbourhood was named after the Paróquia Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora, whose building, inspired in the Église de la Madeleine in Paris, was constructed in 1961. Auxiliadora is also home to the Centro Cultural 25 de Julho, a German cultural centre. The neighbourhood embraces people from upper middle class to upper class, mainly the streets near Moinhos de Vento, some of them that in the past belonged to Moinhos de Vento and nowadays, by the current director's plan, belong to Auxiliadora.

It was created by the law number 2022 of December 7, 1959. Moinhos de Vento got its name because Azorean immigrant families built their windmills in its area during the 18th century. Around that time wheat production was an important economic enterprise in the then-village of Nossa Senhora de Madre de Deus, nowadays called Porto Alegre. In 1893, tramcars led to the development of Moinhos de Vento, where affluent and traditional families built their homes. Many of them were businessmen, industrial and political personalities, not only local, but from the whole state. In 1894, the Independência hippodrome was built there and horse racings became very popular until the arrival of football. After the hippodrome was transferred to another neighborhood, the Moinhos de Vento Park (aka Parcão) was inaugurated in its place. Still an affluent and upper middle class area of Porto Alegre, Moinhos de Vento is well-served by bars, restaurants and luxury stores. Also there is located a highly regarded and traditional private school of the city, the Nossa Senhora do Bom Conselho school, well known as the Bom Conselho. Concerning children's education, Moinhos de Vento has two highly regarded private kindergartens, the Lar do Bebê-Pupileira and Gente Miúda schools.

The College Anchieta is a private Catholic primary and secondary school located in Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The institution is one of the twenty-two works of the Society of Jesus in Southern Brazil. The school has more than three thousand students and approximately three hundred members on its staff.

Also, there has two highly regarded and traditional private schools, the Farroupilha and Anchieta schools, and a highly regarded private school for childhood, the Baby House.

Colégio Farroupilha (Farroupilha Elementary, Middle and High School in English) is one of the most traditional private schools in Porto Alegre and in Brazil. It has ranked at the top 1% of schools in Brazil for as long as the ENEM (National High School Exam) ranking has existed.

Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre is a large teaching hospital located in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Affiliated with Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, it was inaugurated in 1970, gradually becoming a reference for the state of Rio Grande do Sul and southern Brazil. It currently has 125,000 square meters of floor space, distributed on 13 floors, and 741 beds. There is an emergency room with capacity for 50 patients, which contains a vascular unit, an operating theatre with 15 rooms, an outpatient surgery center, and an Interventional Neuro/Cardiovascular center with 3 rooms. It takes care of in about 60 specialties, since the simplest procedures until most complex, with priority, for patients of the SUS.

The killing of João Alberto Freitas refers to the beating and murder by asphyxiation of João Alberto Silveira Freitas, at the hands of security guards at a Carrefour store , located in the Passo d'Areia neighborhood , in the northern part of the city of Porto Alegre , in Rio de Janeiro . Grande do Sul , on the night of November 19 , 2020 . The murder started a series of anti-racist protests in several Brazilian cities. João Alberto, a forty-year-old black man, worked as a service provider. He was buried on November 21 in Porto Alegre.Six people were indicted by the Public Ministry for homicide, including two security guards (one of them a temporary military police officer) and four Carrefour employees.
