Nitra District

The Nitra Synagogue (Slovak: Synagoga v Nitre) is a historical building in Nitra, Slovakia. The synagogue was built in 1908–11 for the Neolog Jewish community. It was designed by Lipót Baumhorn (1860–1932), the prolific Budapest-based synagogue architect. Situated in a narrow lane, the building is a characteristic example of Baumhorn's style. A melange of Moorish, Byzantine and Art Nouveau elements, it faces the street with a twin-tower façade. The sanctuary is a domed hall supported by four pillars that also support the women's gallery. After more than a decade of painstaking restoration by the municipality of Nitra, the building is now used as a center for cultural activities.The women's gallery houses "The Fate of Slovak Jews" – Slovakia's national Holocaust memorial exhibition. The synagogue serves as a permanent exhibition space for graphic works by the Nitra-born Israeli artist Shraga Weil.

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary (Slovak: Kostol Navštívenia Panny Márie) is a Roman Catholic church in Nitra, Slovakia. It was first built as a Gothic church in the 14th century. It was rebuilt in the Renaissance style in the first third of the 17th century and was then changed again to the Gothic style in the 18th century. In the interior there are Gothic architectonic details, Renaissance paintings (by Podmanicky), and a Baroque sculptural group from the cemetery chapel. In front of the church is the statue of the Virgin Mary.

Nitra (Slovak pronunciation: [ˈɲitra] ; also known by other alternative names) is a city in western Slovakia, situated at the foot of Zobor Mountain in the valley of the river Nitra. It is located 95 km east of Bratislava. With a population of about 78,353, it is the fifth largest city in Slovakia. Nitra is also one of the oldest cities in Slovakia; it was the political center of the Principality of Nitra. Today, it is a seat of a kraj (Nitra Region), and an okres (Nitra District).

St. Stephen's Church is a protected cultural monument situated in Nitra. The beginning of the present-day church dates back to the 10th century. In the following two centuries, St. Stephen's Church was rebuilt. In early 18th century the church was renewed to its final Baroque style. This site is a rare medieval structure with the sanctuary beneath a Baroque semicircular vault with lunettes. In the interior of the church parts of the Romanesque frescoes are still visible. The church was rebuilt by František Maťašovský in 1720.

Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra is a public university in Nitra, Slovakia. The Andrej Bagar Theatre (Slovak: Divadlo Andreja Bagara) is a theatre located in Nitra, Slovakia. It opened in 1949. The theatre was known as Nitrianske krajové divadlo (Nitra Region Theatre) and Krajové divadlo Nitra (Regional Theatre Nitra) before being named after actor Andrej Bagar in 1979. Various productions from the theatre have been recognised in the annual DOSKY Awards. The director of the theatre from 2001 was Ján Greššo, until being succeeded by Jaroslav Dóczy in 2016.

Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (Slovak: Univerzita Konštantína Filozofa v Nitre) is a co-educational public university in Nitra, located in southwestern Slovakia. It is a modern educational, scientific and artistic research institution that since 1996 bears the name of one of the most important personalities in Slovak history – Byzantine missionary Saint Cyril (born Constantine, 827–869), the "Apostle to the Slavs". UKF has five faculties and 7029 students, of which 5562 are enrolled in full-time study. The university is also attractive for foreign students. Currently (as of October 31, 2019), it is frequented by 345 students. The wide range of programs in the Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral study is a key strength of the university. UKF is also focusing on student work and is known for numerous cultural, social, and sporting events and student activities, many of which with long traditions. The university publishes the university magazine Náš čas and the student magazine Občas nečas.

Nyitra County (Hungarian: Nyitra vármegye; German: Neutraer Gespanschaft/Komitat Neutra; Latin: Comitatus Nitriensis; Slovak: Nitriansky komitát / Nitrianska stolica / Nitrianska župa) was an administrative county (comitatus) of the Kingdom of Hungary. Its territory lay in what is now western Slovakia.

Nitra Castle (Slovak: Nitriansky hrad, Hungarian: Nyitrai vár) is a castle located in the Old Town of Nitra, Slovakia. It dominants the city and is a national cultural monument. It is the seat of the Diocese of Nitra.

St. Emmeram's Cathedral (Slovak: Bazilika svätého Emeráma) is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in Nitra, Slovakia. The entire cathedral is housed in the Nitra Castle precinct, much like Prague Castle. It was originally built in the Gothic style and is composed of many parts. The upper church dates from 1333 to 1355. The rotunda dates back to the 11th–12th century and houses a silver reliquary made in 1674. Another reliquary in the cathedral houses some relics of Saint Cyril. The lower church was built between 1621 and 1642. Later, the entire cathedral complex was remodelled in the Baroque style. Saint Emmeram of Regensburg, to whom the cathedral is dedicated, was an itinerant seventh-century bishop who did missionary work from the court of Theodo I, Duke of Bavaria. Jozef Tiso, who collaborated with Nazi rule in Slovakia during the Seciond World War, was reburied in the Crypt of St. Emmeram's Cathedral in 2008.

The Faculty Hospital in Nitra (Slovak: Fakultná nemocnica Nitra) is a hospital in the city of Nitra, in western Slovakia. Its address is Špitalská 6, 950 01, Nitra.It is attached to the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra.

The complex of United catholic school consists of Secondary school of St. Cyril and Metod, Church of Visiting of virgin Mary and elementary school of St. Svorad and Benedikt. There were two schools which its own administration. But in 2006 Nitra's bishop made decision about linkage of these two schools. In the area of United catholic school is also the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, which is close to Secondary school of St. Cyril and Metod. The complex is situated in the centre of the town Nitra, in Farska Street.
