Holmwood railway station

South Holmwood () is a semi-rural village in Surrey, England. It can be considered cognate with its wider civil parish, which stretches to the east to embrace Holmwood Common, but does not include Mid Holmwood, or North Holmwood, the latter being contiguous with Dorking. Betchett's Brook is the southern boundary and runs through a locality known as Holmwood Corner. However, Holmwood railway station is within the parish of Capel, although connected to the South Holmwood by a curved path passing through Holmwood Corner Common. Centred 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Dorking, South Holmwood is on the A24 London to Worthing road, a dual carriageway through the village.

Capel () is a village and civil parish in southern Surrey, England. It is equidistant between Dorking and Horsham – about 5 miles (8.0 km) away. Around Capel, to the west, skirts the A24 road. Capel is approximately 2.5 miles (4.0 km) north of the West Sussex border, 26 miles (42 km) south of London and 12 miles (19 km) southeast of Guildford and is in the Mole Valley district. The village is in the north of a landscape called the Weald, meaning forest, which forms a significant minority of the land today, particularly towards the Greensand Ridge.

The A24 is a major road in England that runs for 53.2 miles (85.6 km) from Clapham in south-west London to Worthing on the English Channel in West Sussex via the suburbs of south-west London, as well as through the counties of Surrey and West Sussex.

The Hundred of Wotton, Wotton Hundred or Dorking Hundred was a hundred in Surrey, England. The hundred comprised a south-central portion of the county, clockwise the parishes of Abinger, Wotton, Dorking, Capel and Ockley. The area's owner initially had pecuniary rights (to incomes) over parts of parishes on the borders of the area and just beyond, from just north of Guildford to Sussex. The site of the Hundred Court is indicated in the later medieval records as Dorking, hence its latter alternative name.What vestiges of rights to minor rents and other such rights in the hundred still remained in the 17th century were granted to Sir Edward Zouche in 1620 by James I, and later passed to the Earls of Onslow, heirs to the estates of the Earls of Surrey.Subsequent large village-size settlements within this area include the three Holmwoods collectively and Holmbury St Mary. The majority of it today, which is farmland or woodland, is Metropolitan Green Belt. The largest current settlement in the area is Dorking

Inholms Clay Pit is a 8.4-hectare (21-acre) Local Nature Reserve south of Dorking in Surrey. It is owned by Mole Valley District Council and from 2009 - 2019 was managed by Surrey Wildlife Trust and since then by Mole Valley District Council.This former clay quarry has young woodland and open grassland. Flora in the woods include dog's mercury and wood anemone, while the grassland has orchids almost entirely common spotted.Access is from Inholms Lane via a footpath from Holmbury Drive. The interest of the site lies in its successional diversity, as is typical for brownfield sites. Habitats range from ancient semi natural woodland to freshly bare soil, with many areas that were bare soil 40 years or more ago. Two south-facing cliffs were created by SWT around 2012 to benefit thermophilic hymenoptera, a first for Surrey.

North Holmwood is a residential area on the outskirts of Dorking, in Surrey, England. The village is accessible from the A24, the village's historic heart is the road Spook Hill. The 2011 census for the broader area Holmwoods shows a population of 6,417 and that North Holmwood forms part of the Dorking Built-up Area.

Ockley railway station serves the villages of Ockley and Capel in Surrey, England and is 1.4 miles (2.3 km) from Ockley village and 0.5 miles (0.80 km) west of the village of Capel. The station is 29 miles 20 chains (47.1 km) from London Waterloo station. Ockley is managed by Southern which also provide the services.

Coldharbour is a hamlet in the Mole Valley district, in the English county of Surrey. It is on a minor road from Dorking to Leith Hill Place.

Broome Hall is a Grade II-listed country house with grounds including cottages and outhouses on the wooded, upper southern slopes of the Greensand Ridge near Coldharbour in Surrey, England. It was built around 1830 for the politician and printer Andrew Spottiswoode, and had a succession of similarly wealthy family owners before the main house was converted into eleven flats, each separately owned, in the late 20th century. It was owned, for a number of years in the 1970s, by actor Oliver Reed. Broom(e) refers to the genus (and specifically several species) of often flowering plants Genisteae (along with gorse, lupins and laburnum). Along with evergreens, broom dominates the sandy soil in the region.

Goodwyns is a housing estate in Dorking, a market town in Surrey, England. It is on the return slope of one of two hillsides of the town and adjoins North Holmwood, a green-buffered village. The town centre is about 1.7 miles (2.7 km) away.

Glory Wood and Devil's Den is a 13-hectare (32-acre) nature reserve south-east of Dorking in Surrey. It is owned by Mole Valley District Council, and was managed by the Surrey Wildlife Trust until 1 April 2019. There is a bowl barrow dating to the Late Neolithic or Bronze Age in Glory Wood.The highest points of this wooded site have views over the North and South Downs. The main trees are oak and sweet chestnut and mammals include bats, roe deer, badgers and foxes.There is access from Deepdene Avenue.On 1 April 2019, Surrey Wildlife Trust notices were removed from the reserve's notice board and replaced with a notice stating that Mole Valley District Council was taking over management.
