St Mary's Church, Little Ilford

St Stephen's Church, Little Ilford is the Roman Catholic parish church for Little Ilford and Manor Park, two areas in Newham, east London. It was first built in 1924 as a chapel to St Nicholas', Manor Park. St Stephen's was rebuilt in 1959 and became the parish church, with St Nicholas' as its chapel, the status both churches still hold today.

St Barnabas is an Anglican parish church in Manor Park, London, built in the Gothic Revival style. It was designed by Ninian Comper in partnership with William Bucknall and built to serve the new residential neighbourhood of Manor Park. It is Grade II listed.Building began in 1900 and was completed in 1909. The church is built from red brick with stone copings and window tracery. It has a triple-gabled west front, and arched buttresses along the north side. The interior has late-gothic style windows and measured arches in the nave. It includes two 'Comper angel' candle sconces, distinctive door handles and locks, a carved stone font, 17th century pulpit, and 16th century bell. The stained glass window was added by Comper in 1954 and features his signature strawberry motif.A process of structural restoration was completed in 2016. This was funded by various bodies including the Heritage Lottery Fund and English Heritage (now Historic England). Prior to this, it was on the Heritage at Risk Register.During the 1970s initial planning meetings for Crisis at Christmas were held in a room in the vicarage, and the church was used as a night shelter. Today, St Barnabas is located in one of the most multi-ethnic and culturally diverse parishes in the United Kingdom. The church is used for traditional services and social events, and by community groups reflecting the diversity of the area.

St Michael's Church is a Church of England parish church on the Romford Road in Manor Park, east London. It originated in an 1894 mission hall opened on the Romford Road by St Mary's Church, Little Ilford. Initially housed in an iron church, St Michael's moved into a red-brick permanent church by Charles Spooner whose nave and aisles were completed in 1898 and its chancel in 1906. St Michael's became a separate mission district in 1928 under a priest-in-charge, answerable to a bishop, before taking over as the area's parish church in 1939, with St Mary's as its chapel of ease.This Victorian building was later closed, demolished and replaced by a smaller church on the same site as part of the Froud Centre. It serves the parish of St Michael & All Angels, joint with St Mary the Virgin, Little Ilford. As of 2021, the parish priest is Father Lee Taylor.

Browning Road was the home ground of London football club Thames Ironworks, the team that would become West Ham United, towards the end of the 1896–97 season. Thames Ironworks had been handed an eviction notice from their previous Hermit Road ground in October 1896 for violating their tenancy agreement and had to play their next four fixtures at the grounds of their opponents, until Thames' chairman Arnold Hills managed to lease a temporary piece of land for the team, located at Browning Road, East Ham. Thames' first game at their new home came on 6 March 1897 in a 3–2 win over Ilford. However, the new situation was not ideal, as explained by future Ironworks player and West Ham United manager Syd King in his 1906 book: For some reason, not altogether explained, the local public at this place did not take kindly to them and the records show that Browning Road was a wilderness both in the manner of luck and support." With the club's presence never likely to be permanent, chairman Arnold Hills earmarked a large piece of land in Canning Town and would eventually spend £20,000 on the construction of the Memorial Grounds. On 8 April 1897 came not only Thames Ironworks' last game of the season but their last game at Browning Road. The game against Barking Woodville ended 1–1.

St Paul's Church, East Ham or St Paul's Church, Burges Road is a Church of England parish church in East Ham, Newham, east London.The church originated as a mission church of St Mary Magdalene's. Ynyr Burges (died 1792), Paymaster of the East India Company, had built up an estate in the area late in the 18th century, which his great-grandnephew Colonel Ynyr Burges began to develop as building land from about 1887 onwards. As part of this development, he gave land for the mission to build a temporary Mission Room (the present church hall), which opened on 24 May 1908. Three years later a Building Fund was established for the construction of a permanent church and in 1914 a small iron church hall was set up alongside the church. The mission church was given a parish of its own in 1924 and on 11 April that year Kendrick W Sibley was made its first vicar. £2437 19 shillings and 10 pence had been raised by January 1931 and the diocese agreed that construction could begin on the permanent church, using Hammond and Miles of Ilford and re-using the temporary church's processional cross and stone font. The bells were recycled from a dismantled church at Wendle Lofts. In 1932 the parish's advowson was vested in the bishop of Chelmsford and on 30 September 1933 the new permanent church was consecrated, with the original church becoming a church hall.

The Alders Brook is a small tributary of the River Roding. The name derives from Middle English meaning "brook where alders grow" and is first recorded in 1535; previously it was the site of a farmstead known as Nakethalle or Nagethalle, literally "naked hall", alluding not to a building but to an exposed or unoccupied enclosure. It now marks part of the boundary between the London Boroughs of Newham and Redbridge, with the west bank in the parish of Little Ilford and the east bank in that of Great Ilford. It gave its name to the Aldersbrook area, the Manor of Aldersbrook and the Aldersbrook Estate.
