Sarah Lawrence College is a private liberal arts college in Yonkers, New York. The college models its approach to education after the Oxford/Cambridge system of one-on-one student-faculty tutorials. Sarah Lawrence emphasizes scholarship, particularly in the humanities, performing arts, and writing, and places high value on independent study. Originally a women's college, Sarah Lawrence became coeducational in 1968.

The Church of St. Joseph (commonly called St. Joseph's Church) is a Roman Catholic church located in the Village of Bronxville in Westchester County, New York. Officially founded as a parish of the Archdiocese of New York in 1922, the Church of St. Joseph consists of the parish church, adjacent parochial St. Joseph School, rectory, and parish center. It serves residents of Bronxville as well as residents of nearby neighborhoods in Eastchester and Yonkers. St. Joseph's has a permanent chaplain to the nearby Lawrence Hospital.

Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital is an 1890s-founded hospital that had been "designated a total-care trauma facility since 1984." In 1986 they expanded and added "a new 20-bed psychiatric unit and a rehabilitation unit." The hospital also formed an AIDS program.The Mount Vernon hospital changed its name to Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital when it was taken over by Montefiore Health Systems.

First United Methodist Church, also known as Chester Hill ME Church, is a historic United Methodist church at 227 E. Lincoln Avenue in Mount Vernon, Westchester County, New York, United States. It was built in 1900-1901 and is a Romanesque Revival style building. It is constructed of granite with limestone details and a red slate roof. It features an 85-foot bell and clock tower and multi-gabled roof. The interior features a semi-circular, amphitheater-like seating plan in the Akron Plan.It was a work of architect George W. Kramer.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

Lawrence Park Historic District is a national historic district located at Bronxville, Westchester County, New York. The district contains 94 contributing buildings, the majority of which are architecturally or historically significant. Developed in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century on twenty acres of land closely associated with the historical evolution of the surrounding community, the area attracted as residents many prominent artists and writers of the period. The Park structures were built on a wooded hillside, along winding roads. While in close proximity to one another, they achieve a feeling of seclusion and privacy. Few of the houses have had major alterations, and today Lawrence Park retains much of its original character. Lawrence Park was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The district is primarily residential and representative of early suburban growth outside New York City. Bordering Lawrence Park to the south and west is the commercial section of the Village of Bronxville, or village center, with Pondfield Road running down the center. Newer residential areas lie north and east of the district, sharply delineated by changes in terrain.

Cedar Knolls is an affluent district of the City of Yonkers, Westchester County, New York. It shares the zip code and postal address of the neighboring village of Bronxville. It was described in a 2001 New York Times article, as “... a snug suburban neighborhood in the northeast corner of Yonkers, is in many ways a community frozen in time. The subdivision of narrow and meandering streets exists today mostly unchanged since it was built in the early 20th century..."Approved as a subdivision in 1913 and granted landmark status by the city of Yonkers in 1996, the 104-acre, 143-home neighborhood has historical and current associations with the arts, sports, and business. Cedar Knolls is a former artist colony, and composer Jerome Kern and actor Charlie Chaplin each called Cedar Knolls their home for a period in their lives. Residents from multiple professions and all areas of business are now part of the community.

US Post Office-Bronxville is a historic post office building located at Bronxville in Westchester County, New York, United States. It was built in 1937 and was designed by consulting architect Eric Kebbon (1891–1964) for the Office of the Supervising Architect. It is a 1+1⁄2-story building faced with brick and trimmed in limestone in the Colonial Revival style. The front facade features six extremely flat limestone pilasters that flank the central entrance. The lobby features a mural by John French Sloan (1871–1951) painted in 1939 and titled The Arrival of the First Mail in Bronxville in 1846.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Plashbourne Estate is a historic estate located in the Lawrence Park West section of Yonkers, Westchester County, New York. It was designed in 1911 by the architectural firm of Carrère and Hastings and built for artist Violet Oakley (1874–1961) in the Tudor Revival style. It is a 2+1⁄2-story stone building with an irregular compound plan and cross-gabled roofline. After 1915, it became the home of Anna Lawrence Bisland (1872–1950), third daughter of William Van Duzer Lawrence, who resided there until her death. Grayson L. Kirk (1903–1997) resided at Plashbourne Estate from 1973 until his death.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Eleazer Hart House is a historic home located at 243 Bronxville Road in the Cedar Knolls section of Southeast Yonkers, Westchester County, New York. It was built in 1788 and is a Federal period residence. The building incorporates an earlier tenant farmhouse dating from the Philipse Manor era (1684–1783) and most likely dates to about 1760. The older house is a 1+1⁄2-story, three-by-two-bay building on a stone foundation. The main house is five bays wide on the first floor and three bays on the second. It has a gable roof and is clad in wide shingles, painted white. Also on the property is a 1+1⁄2-story, gable-roofed barn.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Bronxville station is a commuter rail stop on the Metro-North Railroad's Harlem Line, located in the village of Bronxville, New York, in Westchester County. It is 15.3 miles (24.6 km) from Grand Central Terminal in Midtown Manhattan, and travel time there is approximately 37 minutes. The station is located in the Zone 3 Metro-North fare zone.

The Mount Vernon City School District (MVCSD) is a public school district located in Mount Vernon, New York. Consisting over 11 Pre-K through 8th grade neighborhood schools and two high schools, the district serves over 8,000 students from the City of Mount Vernon. In August 2015 the Mount Vernon Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Kenneth R. Hamilton as the Superintendent of Schools and with him a knew district-level administrative team committed to improving the school system and educational outcomes for the district's students. In March 2016, the District put forward a $108 million bond referendum tied to a 20/20 Vision for Academic Excellence. The bond referendum was approved by an overwhelming majority of district voters. The bond not only focused on facility upgrades and improvements, but was designed around an academic vision to convert the district's K-6 elementary schools to Pre-K through 8th grade neighborhood schools. The bond would also allow students choose between three high schools.It would also create the Mount Vernon STEAM Academy, A 9th-12th grade building, house in the former A.B. Davis Middle School, that would focus on Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering and Math Academy. Additionally, the bond would allow Nellie A. Thornton High School to become the permanent home of the district's popular Performing and Visual Arts Magnet Program for students in 6th through 12th grades. Mount Vernon High School would also undergo a renaissance under the approved bond referendum. The 20/20 Vision called for restoration of Mount Vernon High School's storied Career and Technical Education Program and the implementation of an International Baccalaureate program.
