Massif de l'Esterel

Les Adrets-de-l'Estérel (French pronunciation: [le.z‿adʁɛ də lɛsteʁɛl], literally Les Adrets of The Estérel; Occitan: Leis Adrechs) is a commune in the department of Var in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region of southeastern France. It lies near Fréjus and Cannes, on the Esterel massif in southeastern France.

The chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Jérusalem (Our Lady of Jerusalem) is a Catholic chapel of the Diocese of Fréjus-Toulon. The chapel is the last work of French poet Jean Cocteau.

Estérel Côte d'Azur Agglomération (before May 2021: Var Estérel Méditerranée) is a communauté d'agglomération, an intercommunal structure, centred on the cities of Fréjus and Saint-Raphaël. It is located in the Var department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, southeastern France. It was created in January 2013. Its seat is in Saint-Raphaël. Its population was 112,812 in 2017.

The canton of Saint-Raphaël is an administrative division of the Var department, southeastern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. The Mémorial des guerres en Indochine (Indochina War Memorial) is located in the municipality of Fréjus, Gallieni sector, in the Var department. It was inaugurated on 16 February 1993 by François Mitterrand, President of France. The bodies resting in the national necropolis of Fréjus are those of soldiers Morts pour la France (Died for France) who died either between 1940 and 1945, or, for the most part, between 1946 and 1954 in the First Indochina War.

Saint-Raphaël (French: [sɛ̃ ʁafaɛl]; Occitan: Sant Rafèu Occitan pronunciation: [ˈsan raˈfɛw]) is a commune in the Var department, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, Southeastern France. Immediately to the west of Saint-Raphaël lies a larger and older town, Fréjus; together they form an urban agglomeration known as Var Estérel Méditerranée, which also encompasses the smaller communes of Les Adrets-de-l'Estérel, Puget-sur-Argens and Roquebrune-sur-Argens. In the second half of the 19th century, the township came under the influence of Mayor Felix Martin and writer Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr; owing to their efforts and its beneficial climate the commune developed into a seaside resort popular with artists, sportsmen and politicians. It is the seat of the canton of Saint-Raphaël, also encompassing Fréjus and Les Adrets-de-l'Estérel, which is the economic and cultural centre of Eastern Var, within the arrondissement of Draguignan. Its inhabitants are called Raphaëlois in French generally, or Rafelencs in Provençal Occitan.

Saint-Raphaël-Valescure station is a railway station serving the town Saint-Raphaël, Var department, southeastern France. It is situated on the Marseille–Ventimiglia railway. The station is served by high speed trains to Paris, Nancy and Nice, and regional trains (TER Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) to Nice, Marseille and Toulon. Please notice that this station, even served by TGV cars, is NOT high speed as the specific track, needed for high speed up to 320km/h goes only to Marseilles St Charles station. All trains from Marseille to the Italian border (Menton) run at slow speed.

The île d'Or is a private island located at the east of the city of Saint-Raphaël in France, facing the cape of Le Dramont. This small island is composed of porphyry (russet rocks) and surmounted by a tower reminiscent of the Middle Ages said to have been the inspiration for The Black Island in Hergé's The Adventures of Tintin series. Viewed from the sea from the left side of the tower, a rock, commonly thought to resemble the profile of a gorilla, also recalls the comic books of Hergé. The île d'Or is a "site classé" (a protected geographical formation), since 17 March 1941. The island is included with this status inside the Massif de l'Esterel since 3 January 1996.

The Missiri Mosque is a former French military community center inspired by sub-Saharan Islamic architecture. It was constructed in 1928–1930 for the Senegalese Tirailleurs based in military camps in Fréjus, southern France. Although its appearance evokes that of a mosque, its purpose and uses remained secular. The building was included in the supplementary inventory of French historic monuments on 18 June 1987.

Fréjus (French: [fʁeʒys] ; Occitan: Frejús [fɾeˈdʒys]) is a commune in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southeastern France. It neighbours Saint-Raphaël, effectively forming one urban agglomeration. The north of the commune forms part of the Massif de l'Esterel. On 2 December 1959, the Malpasset Dam, on the Reyran River above the city of Fréjus, ruptured, killing over 400 people.

Fréjus Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Saint-Léonce de Fréjus) is a Roman Catholic church located in the town of Fréjus in the Var department of Provence, southeast France, and dedicated to Saint Leontius of Fréjus. The cathedral was the seat of the Bishop of Fréjus from the 5th century. The diocese was abolished in 1801 but restored in 1822 under bull Paternae charitatis. In 1957, the Diocese of Fréjus was united with that of Toulon to form the present Diocese of Fréjus-Toulon, with its seat at Toulon Cathedral. Since then, Fréjus Cathedral has been a co-cathedral in the new diocese. The church is part of a complex of medieval religious buildings dating from between the 5th and 13th centuries, when Fréjus was an important religious and commercial centre of Provence. It includes a parish church and a cathedral under one roof; a baptistery; the bishop's residence; a canonry, for the community of priests who served under the bishop; and a cloister. The baptistery of the cathedral is a fine example of early Christian or Merovingian architecture. It was built in the 5th century but hidden during later reconstruction, and was rediscovered in 1925 by French architect Jules Formigé. It is considered the oldest Christian structure in Provence and one of the oldest in France.It was declared a French monument historique in 1862.
