El Carmen complex

San Ángel is a colonia or neighborhood of Mexico City, located in the southwest in Álvaro Obregón borough. Historically, it was a rural community, called Tenanitla in the pre-Hispanic period. Its current name is derived from the El Carmen monastery school called San Ángel Mártir. San Ángel remained a rural community, centered on the monastery until the 19th and 20th centuries, when the monastery was closed and when the area joined urban sprawl of Mexico City. However, the area still contains many of its former historic buildings and El Carmen is one of the most visited museums in the city. It is also home to an annual flower fair called the Feria de las Flores, held since 1856. In 1934, San Ángel was declared as a Pueblo Típico Pintoresco (Picturesque Typical Town); in 1987, due to presidential order, it was declared historical monument zone.

El Parque de la Bombilla is a public park located in the neighborhood of San Ángel, Álvaro Obregón district, south of Mexico City. The park and the monument memorialize revolutionary general and former president of the republic (1920-24) and in 1928 president-elect, Álvaro Obregón, who was assassinated in 1928 while dining at the restaurant "La Bombilla", now the site of the monument. The monument complex opened on July 17, 1935, the seventh anniversary of the assassination by José de León Toral.

The Insurgentes Ice Rink is an indoor arena located in Mexico City that hosted the wrestling competitions for the 1968 Summer Olympics.

The Carso Center for the Study of Mexican History (in Spanish: Centro de Estudios de Historia de México Carso, CEHM-Carso) is a Mexican cultural institution devoted to the research, preservation and dissemination of Mexico's historical prints and documents from the 18th century to the 20th century. It is owned by the Carlos Slim Foundation (Fundación Carlos Slim), located in Chimalistac, south of Mexico City. It was founded in 1965 by Condumex. The center is one of the founding members of UNESCO's World Digital Library. Its archives contain 700 documentary resources – about 2 million pages – and its library has 80,554 books (18 incunabula). The center has approximately 800,000 items.

Miguel Ángel de Quevedo (also spelt M. A. de Quevedo) is a station along Line 3 of the Mexico City Metro. It is located in Mexico City's southern Coyoacán borough, at the junction of Avenida Miguel Ángel de Quevedo and Avenida Universidad.

The “Asociación Mexicana de Cineastas Independientes. AMCI”, Spanish for Mexican Association of Independent Filmmakers is the first private film school in Mexico. The association produces almost 150 short films a year, many showing at international festivals.

The Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (Mexico's Autonomous Institute of Technology), commonly known as ITAM, is a private university. It is one of Mexico's most important institutions of higher learning; highly prestigious in the social sciences. It is also considered one of Mexico's think tanks and has the highest rank of admission to the Mexican Foreign Service.

The Facultad de Filosofía y Letras (School of Philosophy and Literature) or FFyL of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) administers eleven divisions of the humanities offering undergraduate and graduate degrees. The Department is one of the largest, and most renowned, literature faculties in the Spanish-speaking world; the Alma Mater of Nobel Prize laureate Octavio Paz and a number of other important figures in Latin American literature.

Central Library of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) is the main library in the Ciudad Universitaria Campus. It holds one of the largest collections in Mexico. It has a multidisciplinary approach for all the university courses from the adjacent faculties. The building is covered with the mural Historical Representation of Culture, created by the Mexican artist Juan O'Gorman. His unique masterpiece has become the most iconic building from the UNAM and from Mexican culture. In July 2007, the UNESCO proclaimed the Central Library, along with the Central Campus of the University City, as World Heritage. The Central Library hosts some of the administrative offices of the General Libraries Directorate of the UNAM. The library opened to users on April 5, 1956. After 25 years, it underwent its first remodel (1981–1983), changing from a closed to open shelves.

Ciudad Universitaria (University City), Mexico, is the main campus of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), located in Coyoacán borough in the southern part of Mexico City. Designed by architects Mario Pani and Enrique del Moral, it encloses the Olympic Stadium, about 40 faculties and institutes, the Cultural Center, an ecological reserve, the Central Library, and a few museums. It was built during the 1950s on an ancient solidified lava bed in Coyoacán called "El Pedregal" to replace the scattered buildings in downtown Mexico City where classes were given. It was completed in 1954 at a cost of approximately $25 million. At the time of its completion it was the largest single construction project in Mexico since the Aztecs. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007.Although the University has other buildings in Mexico City (mostly for undergraduate studies and cultural purposes), in other Mexican states and in other countries (such as Canada and the United States), Ciudad Universitaria, known simply as "C.U.", is the prime symbol of the University.

The Alfredo Guati Rojo National Watercolor Museum (Museo Nacional de Acuarela Alfredo Guati Rojo) was the first museum in the world dedicated specifically to watercolor painting. It is located in the Coyoacán borough of Mexico City, in a former private house which was donated to the museum by the city government. Due to the public health emergency, as of March 2022 the museum was still closed to casual public visits. The museum was founded and run by artist Alfredo Guati Rojo from its beginnings in 1964 until his death in 2003. It is dedicated to the preservation and continuance of watercolor painting both in Mexico and abroad, with its permanent collection of 300 works donated by Guati Rojo and his wife, classes in watercolor and drawing, its annual Premio Nacional de Acuarela (National Watercolor Prize) and various temporary exhibits both at the museum and abroad.
