West Wood, Little Sampford

Boyton End is a hamlet in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. It is located approximately one mile north-east of Thaxted on the B1051 road.

Royal Air Force Great Sampford or more simply RAF Great Sampford is a former Royal Air Force satellite station located 1.7 miles (2.7 km) west of Great Sampford, Essex, England and 5.3 miles (8.5 km) south east of Saffron Walden, Essex.

Bardfield End Green is a hamlet in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England approximately one mile east of Thaxted. It is the home of Thaxted cricket club.

The Church of Saint John the Baptist with Our Lady and Saint Laurence is the parish church of the town of Thaxted in Essex, England. The present church was built over an extended period between c. 1380 and 1510 in the English Perpendicular style. Sitting on top of a hill with a slender spire reaching 181 feet (55 m) high, the church is one of the largest in the county, overlooking the town and the surrounding countryside. Its size is an indication of the former prosperity of the town, because of the medieval cutlery and wool trades that once flourished here. The church has earned the epithet "the Cathedral of Essex". The church is a Grade I Listed Building on the National Heritage List. Since 13 June 2017, the Benefice of Thaxted has been joined with that of the Sampfords, Radwinter and Hempstead. Since 1914, the church parish has formed part of the Diocese of Chelmsford, but previously it has been in the dioceses of London (foundation to 1846), Rochester (1846–77) and Saint Albans (1877–1914).

Saffron Walden is a constituency in Essex, represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2017 by Kemi Badenoch, a Conservative.Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the seat will be subject to relatively minor boundary changes but will be renamed North West Essex, to be first contested at the next general election.

John Webb’s or Lowe’s Mill is a Grade II* listed tower mill at Thaxted, Essex, England, which had been restored to working order, but is currently out of action following the loss of a sail in April 2010.

Radwinter is a village and a civil parish on the B1053 road, in the Uttlesford district of the county of Essex, England. The population in the 2011 Census was 612 with 306 males and 306 females living in the parish. At re centre of the village is the 14th-century church dedicated to St Mary the Virgin, and a primary school. The village has four outlying hamlets in the district of Uttlesford, between the market town of Saffron Walden (Essex) and Haverhill (Suffolk). In the 1870s Radwinter was described as:The parish comprises 3,802 acres. Post-town, Saffron-Walden. Real property, £5,365. Pop., 946. Houses, 214. The property is much subdivided. Radwinter Hall, Bendish Hall, and the Hill are chief residences.There is much local history of the parish dating back to the 1800s. "The parish was once divided into Great Radwinter and Little Radwinter however this distinction is now lost". There were also four manors in existence: Radwinter Hall, Brockhold's, Bendish Hall and Radwinter Grange. Most of what can be seen today in the centre of Radwinter is the work of the Bullock family; they were Lords of the Manor and rectors or Radwinter.

Cutlers Green is a hamlet in the civil parish of Thaxted, and the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. The hamlet is 1 mile (1.6 km) west from the town of Thaxted. The name of the hamlet is reminiscent of the cutlery industry which developed in Thaxted in the late Middle Ages. According to a Thaxted vicar, the remains of forges were found at Cutlers Green in the nineteenth century.The common land at the centre of the hamlet once belonged to the manor of Horham Hall, which lies one mile to the south. It was gifted by the lord of the manor and owner of the Hall, Mr. Sandy Shand, to Thaxted Parish Council in the 1978, which maintains it as a public common.There was a station on the Elsenham & Thaxted Light Railway named Cutlers Green Halt from 1913 until the line closed to passengers on 15 September 1952.A water tower at Cutlers Green was constructed in 1938 to supply the Thaxted area.Several buildings in Cutlers Green are Grade II listed, including Richmond's in the Wood farmhouse, which dates to the fourteenth century, several other farmhouses and cottages ranging from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries and a seventeenth century timber-framed and weatherboarded barn,There was once a public house - the Oak Beer House - which was tied to a brewery in Stansted Mountfichet and closed in 1925. There are currently no retail premises operating in the hamlet.
